Yeah, thanks Rebel, very good points. My husband also said "you have to respond to their questions with a question. If you answer negatively, the conversation is over"....also a good point.

Birthday Celebrations & other shenanigans
by homeschool inwell, here's my latest "thing"...i plan on speaking with my siblings & their mates in the near future.
i have told them that i have questions regarding some doctrines, mainly stuff like birthdays, mother's day, father's day, etc.
my hubby has some questions for them regarding their wacky blood doctrine (but i wont cover that in this thread).

I tried having a run-through/practice conversation with my husband last night. He played Devil's Advocate. WheW! I need to keep practicing. For every good point I made, he made a comeback point that was kinda dumb (the way the witnesses would respond) & then I had nothing to say back without starting an argument.

does jack barr still give talks?

This thread is about Ninja calling me a liar. http://www.jehovahs-witness.net/jw/friends/177160/1/Losing-the-ego-easier-said-than-done .Not sure why he's decided to pick on me, as I have been only encouraging to those who are on here. I haven't said a bad word about anyone, have had a couple rants about my personal life regarding those in my family who are still very much in the jw's, and am documenting my current study with my sister in order to get her out.
So I guess, unless its for an apology from Ninja, I won't respond to his cold words about me.

Attending another church is grounds for disfellowshipping
by passwordprotected ini'm listening to part two of hobo ken's first judicial committee meeting.
the part of the proceedings i'm at is where the 3 elders on the committee are interrogating hobo about his fellowship with my wife and me (we had started attending a church, this had become known to our respective families, so to save them having to testify against us we dad).
one elder in particular has a thorn up his backside (and he knows who he his) because hobo, iknowall and their kids went on holiday with us pre-hobo's disfellowshipping.

I'm sorry that you go through so much, when it's obvious you're doing the right thing for the right reasons. That's it...I don't know the laws and scriptures like I should . Just wanted to send thoughts your way

BTW...thank you to everybody who is actually supportive on here. Hopefully I am to you as well
Not tryin to fool da ninja, da ninja has a handle on that all on his own

Losing the Ego, easier said than done
by homeschool ini've read steven hassan's combatting cult mind control, and i can see that it's impossible to say anything negative about their religion/cult.
thats just really stinkin' tough when you have proof and evidence of things and they are in lala land about their cult!
about ten years ago, i was a lot more outspoken about how i felt about the jw's, but have since grown up a bit.

Ummmmm . Nope. I do not remember what convention meeting place they were at. Not sure why I'm being questioned. I feel like I'm being hazed. Go ahead and point me out...still not sure what the heck I did to you.
What does rockmehardplace have anything to do with anything?

Pretty sure, meaning I am not positive because I was not at the convention. The only assemblies I remember going to were in Salisbury, Knoxville, and Johnson City. I'm PRETTY sure it was Johnson City. Am I about to be called Trevor?
After I asked what BTTT meant, it dawned on me . Got it!!!

How many here actually still believe that there is a God??
by annalice inafter being gone from the jw's for many years now , and having done extensive research on the history of god and the belief in him , i can't seem to find any logical way to have a belief in an invisble being up there ruling over us.
how many here still believe?
how many don't?.

I think this way: If Jehovah's witnessess are wrong, it does not mean that the Bible or God is wrong.
If the Bible are wrong, it does not mean that God is wrong.
I do believe there is a God. I do believe in doing merciful things for my neighbour.I agree with this. Always believed in something & have always prayed my thanks. I know they love me even if I don't know who they are...I've been saved from quite a few life threatening situations. And I always try to say 'thank you'. Now I've decided to read the Bible in full. I don't wanna knock it anymore till I've read it!
