100% doesn't matter. He sounds like he's a believer that is going through somewhat normal youth "rebellion" - if you want to call it that. Until he is sure that wts is a fraud he will have his ups and downs regarding this religion. You do not know if he will ever get over this cult or will he one day wake up and blame you for him being lead astray from the flock. Maybe you get married and he decides he needs to be "more spiritual" and will try to pull you in and tell you what a wonderful place kingdom hall is. Most will advise you not to date witnesses as they are for most part not good marriage material for outsiders. As for oral sex, not all witnesses follow the so called rules on this, but as long as elders don't know, no one asks. It's none of their business and I would bet many elders practice this without others knowing. For dating "worldly" girl he would most likely loose his privilages in his congregation, possibly elders would have a talk with him and ask him certain questions and depending on how he would answer he may have a judicial hearing where he would loose these privilages and even be disfellowshipped if some topics were brought up that the elders felt he didn't have a repentant attitude. No point of taking a risk with a ticking time bomb. Don't date wts believers.

i was shocked at the following underlined statement.. the second thing they are emphasizing is that those who claim to be of the "anointed" (now that they have admitted the number may not be limited to 144,000) not only have no say into what goes into the watchtower magazine, and have no special knowledge or place in jehovah's organization, so don't look to them for answers.
the governing body is the faithful and discreet slave as far as the jws are to be concerned.

There is no change as of yet and I would be surprised to see it change anytime soon. Genuine and not genuine covers the number problem and can be successfully used for a long time. I can see them changing the idea that all the first century Christians were of the anointed class as it's already becoming a problem with newer younger partakers. Removing that explaination would allow many more future partkers to continue while claiming that many first century christians must have been of the other sheep while keeping 144k number intact. They already claim that apostasy started sometime near the end of the 1st century thus they need to change the original christians from being all anointed to some having the calling while others haven't and that's why we may be seeing the increase of the anointed in our day as the end draws nearer these positions need to be filled and that's why the anointing is increasing because God needs them seales before the end.

his mother knows, but not his father (who is the one who got them into the jw's and is more strict about it).

If your boyfriend still thinks that watchtower is the truth tell him to examine the history and do research because what you want to know is if he is a believer or not. If he is a believer he will return to the watchtower sooner or later with or without you. If he is a believer but is willing to do research you have a chance. If he says he doesn't believe it without knowing why ask him why he thinks it's not the truth since he may just be just telling you what you want to hear. It's important what he believes because wts isn't like any religion but it's a high control group and if he is a believer you may have hard time being with him down the road. I'm not going to say you will have hell of a life since not all witnesses are the same as people go but generally speaking it's better not to be with a believer.

586/7 vs. 607 (another one) Critique my letter please....
by bigmouth insince moving back to another town i've met up with an elder i knew from way back.
(i met him coming out of a salvation army shop.).
he visited me at home a few weeks ago, and as i seem to be getting more comfortable at fading i invited him in and told him i was very concerned over the 607 bce.

Bigmouth: You should get Carl Johnsson' book Gentile Time Reconsidered it will answer many things and will show where the 1914 came from. The original 1914 wasn't Barbour's nor Millers idea if I remember correctly. I would have to check the book for the actual names as it's been awhile since I've read it. John Aquila Brown had original ideas that play part of 1914 calculation. By reading the book you may decide to add info to your letter that you otherwise may not have on hand.
There is no debate. Jerusalem wasn't destroyed in 607 as mountain of artifacts show it could not have happened. Lunar eclipses as described by the finds show beyond doubt that the events described could not have been off by 20years as wts and it's braindead scholars claim. One cannot accept 2500 years of archeaological finds and agree with everything upto 539BC while ignoring the next 100 years of evidence only to accept the older history as acceptable. The 100 years that wts doesn't agree with is only because they cannot accept it as fact because their BS theolagy would fall apart and they would be shown to be a fraud to everyone and would loose the control over their members. Josephus' writings also don't support 70 years as initially he claimed 70 years but in his writtings he chaged that to be closer to 50 years. 1914 followers can continue believing in nonsense as their last days are almost 100 years old, in fact if the end came any time now, the pagan Mayans would have been closer to the divine date than any so called Jehovah's witnesses - and how could that be?

...Weird Ass Lights in the Sky...

as most of you know i live in a forest,in the mountains..at night there is very little light pollution... so the sky is one big theatre screen... i see shooting stars,northern lights,satellites,planes on a destination..it`s all very beautiful... tonight was different... .
tonight there was something in the sky that defied anything i`ve ever seen... it had multiple aircraft lights but not like regular airplane lights..it wasn`t a helicopter... it could go straight up or down... move in one direction then head in another..it could do all kinds of weird stuff... sometimes it just hovered..then start doing all these weird maneuvers... regular aircraft is going somewhere,it`s headed in a direction..not this thing... i watched a regular airplane pass it... .

Vampire where in BC? I'm in Kelowna.
I doubt aliens visit us (if they exist) but I wouldn't doubt that the army has secret aircrafts that many people mistake for UFOs. The only time I ever seen something I couldn't explain in the sky was a small red light during the day that stood still in the sky far away that almost looked like a flame - never seen anything like it before nor after but surely there was an explaination for it.

If you felt/feel that you had/have good, close "friends" in the org, how did/does it feel to just give them up?
by Crisis of Conscience inthis is my biggest dilema.
although mentally i really feel i could walk away from the org right now, i still have genuine love for the people i have come to know over the years.

True friends stick together even if they have different views. Loosing friends and family who choose to take the word of strangers rather than believe the ones they knew for years isn't loosing much. I had a so called best friend but really it was just an illusion of a friend, it was sad to hear he chose the stranger thus I told him he was never a true friend and I never looked back.

You finding this place is a blessing. By them df you, they gave you a chance to examine the wts from a point that would be hard for you to do if you were still in. It's sad that wts does this to it's members and it's sad that few uneducated men can wreck families and lives just because they have the power to do so. I hope you take this time to examine the history of the wts and its teachings. Talk to you husband and examine things with an open mind, both of you can strenghten each other as you heal the pain you experienced. WTS has hurt many innocent people by it's cunning and it's practices and lucky few have found the truth about wts and set themselves free while others (DF) feel guilt and struggle to come back to the organization that only masters over them. There are many here that were dealt unjustly and can give you better encouragement than I can as they've gone through it but I can only encourage you to research the evolution of wts with it's teachings. Start with 607BC as I find this to be the cornerstone of the WTS and when you discover that there is absolutely no evidence for that and that 1914 has nothing to do with anything biblical all other crazy wts teachings will fall into place as this will be an emotional journey for you and your husband if you chose to research it. All the best.

My experience from 5 years ago. Italy is insanely expensive and over rated. Venice is nice. Greece is awsome. Athens is clean, from my understanding they cleaned it up for the olympics. Athen's beaches are not so clean as people throw cigarette butts anywhere but you can go to private beaches if you don't mind paying. Metro is fast and clean and cheap! You can get around anywhere with English. Depending it you're on a budget or not will determine your place of stay. If you're on a budget you can go to the ferry arrival area and find people with signs that rent their places to the visitors. Life in Greece starts after 6pm and it's great. Hotel rates are cheaper after Aug 15 from my understanding. We loved Naxos and Santorini islands. You can book ferry tickets online or when you arrive there. Places of stay are easy to find as many people wait for ferry arrivals with their signs at each port and many locals make their living this way. We found clean apartments for 35-45euros a night.
Driving isn't bad unless you're a bad driver to begin with. Italy has toll highways and they are expensive but nice to drive on, remember that left lane is a passing lane not for going the speed limit or slower - that's what the right lane is for which so many north american drivers don't seem to get. Austria is awsome too if you're in the area, we liked Austria much more than Italy.
