with all the bad things happening now where would be the safest place to be, for myself and and famiy i would expect that would be somewhere in the far east high above the food plain, people there also have much more repect for human life and do not leave their elders to die alone without any respect and have a much nicer famiy society and seem to be much more organised as to their affairs.. .

You can't predict nature so there is no point of worrying about that type of event.
As for economic event, urban cities would be the worse hit as not only would you have harder time with food but more likely you would have larger riots/violence.
Seeing how they managed '08, I will guess the governments will continue to bail out friends in high places and you can be concerned about high to hyper inflation down the road but that could be another 5 10 or 20 years from now. 1930s deflation is unlikely especially since Bernanke is at the helm, and by seeing how EU and UK and other bankers are dealing with the problems, I wouldn't worry too much about general deflation event, but hyper inflation one some time in the future. You still want to live in a developed country, and one that offers most freedoms. You do want to have a valid passport and have a backup country of your choice - personally South America(Chile), or Australian regions. Ideally you want not too cold of a climate and an area to grow food if need be, with access to clean water.
IMO countries that will get hit hard will be EU, UK, US, Japan. We'll see what happens with EU, if they will be the first to fall and pull others or will it be Japan or US. Japan's debt to GDP over 200%, US with debt to GDP over 100% and large importer which is greatly influenced by inflation risks from those countries, EU with a central bank has a internal problem where EU states can't print away their problems like US/Japan but create a different set of problems. Today's financial world is really intertwined so once one large economy falls, it will drag the others in. If Greece were to default, credit event would have to be called, ISDA couldn't ignore it like it's ignoring the 70% haircut on the loans, and many US banks would be paying out on "insurance policies" which would probably create another '08 financial crisis within US banking system.
There are many whens and ifs, so it's good to think about the possibilities, have some hedges in place but don't worry too much, because if the financial debt bubble bursts, the globe will be involved and you will feel it no matter where you are.

My favorite is the amount of metals used for the Salomon's temple which if melted into a cube would be larger than the temple itself! Runningman sure did a good job on it, very well presented and funny.

Welcome,
Good to see thinking witnesses take baby steps in search of truth. As you keep on researching, your views will most likely continue to adjust to the things you learn with regards to the watchtower and maybe even the bible itself. If there is any materials you might be interested in, as in wts books, documets and such let us know as much is in pdf format and can be easily downloaded.
You might give jwfacts.com a try, and see if there is any information that might interest you. Take your time, as there is a lot out there that general witness population has very little knowledge about.

Had I understood all the past changes and how they came about, I doubt very much I would have ever continued studies with JWs. While I was young when I began the studies, I was told that first Russell thought Jesus returned in 1874 but then corrected their understanding, and that was about all I've heard of the date. This is typical deception that watchtower uses on people, had I known that 1874 was preached and taught for over 50 years the outcome for my life may have been very different. Another jw urban legend is that wts proclaimed 1914 as understood today some 40 years prior to 1914 itself which is proof that God had directed Russell. When you look at the watchtower publications, many times they will talk about Jesus and 1914 and will put this idea that WTS preached the end of Gentile Times some 40 years prior - which is deceptively true, as there are 4 items that fall under today's understanding of 1914 and only end of Gentile Times has been pointed to 1914 by Russell while the other items as mentioned earlier had nothing to do with the date, but because of today's teaching, JWs don't grasp the meaning of what they read in their own publications.
This is how JWs go about their changed teaching, one time wts "thought"........ while they don't mention that at one time wts taught and preached the old idea as FACT and teaching from God.

I think it was The Truth Shall Make You Free in 1943 that was the official change in the teaching. Rutherford did imply Jesus returned in 1914 on couple occasions as far back as 1932 or '33. But I can't remember the details without searching for them.
"This was influenced by the belief that the seventh millennium of human history had begun
in 1873 and that a period of divine disfavor (of equal length to a former period considered to be
one of favor) upon natural Israel would end in 1878. The chronology was flawed because of relying
on an inaccurate rendering of Acts 13:20 in the King James Vinion, belief that there was a
transcription error at 1 Kings 6: 1, and failure to take into account Biblical synchronisms in the
dating of reigns of the kings of Judah and of Israel. A clearer understanding of Biblical chronology
was published in 1943, in the book "The Truth Shall Make You Free,"and it was then refined
the following year in the book "The Kingdom Is at Hand," as well as in later publications." - Proclaimers, p.133I always found it odd that if there was an error in the the KJ bible, and they needed to add the 100 years to correct the calculations why didn't they move Jesus' return to 1975 as would have been the case if Russell's logic was used but instead they moved it to 1914!

1914 was the end of gentile times for Russell which was supposed to bring destruction to the worldly governments by Christ.
1874 was taught to be the date of Jesus' return based on belief that 6000 years of human history. This date was officially changed in 1942 or 1943 to 1914 as believed by present JWs.
1878 was taught by Russell to be Christ's enthronement in heaven which was also changed to 1914 in the late 1920s.
1799 was taught to be beganning of the last days which was again changed to 1914 in the late 1920s.
Russell used the pyramid of Giza to support these dates, after his death in the late 1920s Pyramid was done away with, which also earased most of Russell's dates and allowed 1914 to take center stage.

by cedars inohiocowboy has just posted this information on the two other threads dealing with the sudden collapse of the unthank cases.. i don't know steven unthank, but i just want to thank him from the bottom of my heart for having the courage against overwhelming odds to try and bring the watch tower society to justice over their deplorable neglect when it comes to protecting children from abuse and molestation.. steven is a man of justice and integrity who i deeply admire.
his actions will never be forgotten, and i only hope he can find it within himself to continue his work in whatever avenue may become available in the future.. they have won this battle, but they can never win the war.. .

I haven't read all there was said regarding Steven. Personally I find few things odd, and the latest I've noticed is the sun picture which I don't know of a 4 year old being able to draw that, I don't even know if many 10 year olds could draw that complex of a pic. Also, a question that maybe someone can answer is, the child that was supposedly raped couple years back, has the police been informed about this perpetrator if not why not?
Also, is there anyone that has actually gone to any of these hearings and heard what was being said regarding the cases and who all was present there? Just wondering if there were any physical eye witnesses to any of this.
I might have missed a lot of information throughout the many pages written on this subject so many someone can enlighten me on this while I'll cautiously stand back and see where this whole thing leads to.

Ahhh the memories. I remember when I was still a new dub, I think there was an article or something that said we only use 1/10 or only 1% of the brain, an a "friend" commented on it and I vividly remember saying that I thought GB used selective quotes(must have been around 1991-92). Man oh man, and I lasted some 17 years longer in that shit hole before finally realizing it was all a con!
LOL imagine we use 1% of the brain and in the new system we'll use 99% more of our brain, we'll all be geniuses!

We will all be young, well built, have an acre of land, house and vineyard, we will do enjoyable work (meaning there won't be anyone cleaning streets or working in a sewage treatment plant, and the like) and you will get your pet unicorn. Since cars pollute and really use up a lot of resources we will have our own pegasus to get around on, just watch out for the falling shit. ;)
