by cameo-d inthe knights of malta are the militia of the pope, and are sworn to total obedience by a blood oath which is taken extremely seriously and to the death.
the pope as the head of the vatican is also the head of a foreign national power.. .

Ninja, this is absolutely hilarious! I had to walk to school three the blinding snow three miles in each direction in my bare feet to get to school - and to make matters worse it was uphill in both directions.

You can check it out by going to: azstarnet.com. Go to the search line and type in jehovah's witness convetion and you will get the link to the story and the blog.
I used to live there, so I have followed the paper regularly for years. They don't leave blogs up this long as a rule. I guess they think this one is interesting. Good chance for an anti-witness.

St. Ann congrats on the good news. You are all lucky that you like this girl and are happy to see them planning to get married. That's a huge plus for them and you. John Doe, are you always so negative - or is that something you reserve for this forum?

I hate the CO
by superman inso i was talking to my mother the other day, and she was distressed because she was saying that if my little sister isn't baptized or working toward it by the time she's 18 (which is coming up soon) she may have to move out (more then likely she'll move in with me and my girlfriend, or my older sister if that happens).
my little sister is a great kid (high honor roll, no trouble, hard worker, etc), that many parents would be grateful to have.
i asked my mom, why would they take parenting advice from a guy who doesn't (and hasn't) ever had kids?

I had a similar experience regarding my oldest daughter back in the early 80s. She went through a wild time in her teens and despite our best efforts got into smoking and partying. She was disfellowshipped at age 15. We had a cong. book study at our home and one day two elders (one was my brother-in-law) came to visit to inform us that some in the book study group were offended because we still had a photo of her on display in our home. I regret to say that we put her picture in the back part of the house. Now I wish I had told them to go straight to hell.
Since then the brother-in-law's own son has married, divorced, moved in with his uncle (his father's brother), starting messing with the uncle's wife and ended up marrying her and running off. Meanwhile, my daughter got her life back on track, had two great kids of her own and a great career, nice hubby, nice home. I wonder if he ever thinks back to what a p@#ck he and the other guy were when they came to see us that day.
These guys have no mercy.

Breaking free and closure...
by RaraAvis ini have only been posting on this site for a short time, and haven't completely decided how i feel about it.
i have found it interesting to say the least, and have learned a lot from members such as andersonsinfo and others.
i have felt compassion for many who have posted here, have felt out of the loop by many others who have formed tight "friendships" with each other here, have been shocked by some users, have been inspired by others ... you get the idea... i have had a full spectrum of thoughts more or less.. however.... the one feeling i get the most is it reminds me of divorce, or when you split off from someone who mattered to you and you can't seem to let go.

"I have felt compassion for many who have posted here, have felt out of the loop by many others who have formed tight "friendships" with each other here."
Rara Avis, I understand how you feel, I think. Since I have started posting here I sometimes feel a bit of an outsider because many of the folks on this forum have obviously known each other for quite a while. On ther other hand, I have learned a great deal by just hanging out and reading the comments posted by others.
There are a wide variety of points of view expressed here - some quite religious, some agnostic or atheist. Everyone has had a different history with the jws, and this no doubt colors their view of the wts today. I like your analogy of going through a divorce. For some, even leaving a terrible marriage is extremely traumatic and takes a while to process. Some can move on quickly and others need more time. Since we all have had different experiences with the wts we are processing the leaving part in our own unique way. For me, even after 20 years of being out, I still have healing to accomplish and sharing with this group has helped me to make sense of what I went through with my family. Besides that, who knows, maybe my experience will hep someone else to feel not quite so alone.
Welcome to the forum and I wish you peace, happiness and freedom from fear.

When CO Tony and Mary Disenti (sp?) were serving our congregation they came to our house for lunch. At the time I had two kids, about three and five years old. The eldest has eczema which sometimes got very itchy. We were all standing around in the kitchen talking and she suddenly announced, "These bugs keep biting my head!" and proceded to scratch like crazy. Talk about wanting to crawl in a hole! Tony and Mary were pretty down to earth though and just laughed it off, but I was a very young Mom and wanted to make a good impression, so I was really mortified.
Ahh, the things our kids say...
