PACIFIC on Tsunami alert after biggest quake ever recorded hits Japan
by hamsterbait injapan was hit by a 30 metre wave after an 8.9 superquake.
10 metres is not 13 feet, as stated on another post, a metre is over three feet.. hawaii, phillipines and west coast of us on alert.. is anybody in the affected areas?.

There's A Ghost At My Place Of Employment
by finallysomepride inok some of you will laugh at this, but it's true, there is a spirit that haunts the premises where i work.. it has spoken to me once when i was locking up, it was 1 single word "hello", i looked around and saw nothing, i ignored it, set the alarm locked the door & went home.
other times i have felt something brush passed me as i have entered the building early in the morning.
the experience that got to me most happened the other nite when i was called back to the store by security, as i pulled into the drive way there was a man standing at the rear of the building, in the split second of looking away he dissapeared, there's no way that he could have run off the property in that split second.. what do you think?.

Wanted to get reinstated... Almost ready to give up
by headisspinning ini'd like to hear from anyone who was disfellowshipped but fully intended to go back as soon as possible and how that worked out or didn't.
i'd like to hear how soon you went back to meetings, how many letters requesting reinstatement you wrote, how you were treated, and how long it took you to get bitter and jaded.... or in the off chance you had a positive experience, what exactly happened.. really struggling here... thanks!.

I have seen your story. Have in mind we are not your Judges ok. We are only expressing how do we feel and give our 5c for the issue that you are dealing with. At the end of the day you are the one who will decide what to do.
I have personal expierience (I'm disfellowshiped for more than 6 years)I know how the system works within the WT. I have pass through all their "ranking possitions".
I know that the "elders" of the WT did a very fast reinstatement of a person that got involved with a wordly person. The wordly person tried to "awake the person up", by showing "apostate websites"and the book by Ray Franz, Crisis of Conscious. Since the person was "born in the truth" started to feel shaken, due to the fact that he only got disfellowshiped of having an affair(without having sexual relations!!!)with a wordly person and never questioned the "truth'. The "wordly"person got the JW in contact with "apostates", and the "elders" of the WT found this out. So with fast moves they reinstate the JW, since they didn't wanted to lose completely the person. The total time, only six months.
The JW went back due to "friends" and relatives, since the bond was stronger from the love of the "wordly person'.
Now regarding your situation, I will tell you few things from my personal expierience: I was born in the WT, son of an "Elder". I have been through major doctrinal changes of the WT, including the 1975 fiasco, the generation that will not pass", the "light of the generation in 1994". I served blindly WT, as a regular pioneer and then elder. At the end of the day WT brought me pain. My family is broken due to the WT and I lost contact with all my friends and relatives. I quit a promising career as a musician due to the fact that the "end was near". It was back in the 80's then and Armageddon was just around the corner. When I was disfellowshiped(having my own crisis of conscious)my marriage was ended up. I could have save it, if I would have gone back to the WT World and pretend...But I said, NO...I will NEVER go back to that horrible cult. I'm FREE, I'm ME.
I will not give my freedom to any one, and specially to a man made organization made in U.S.A. You have kids and so do I. When I see them I speak to them why I left WT, and the reason that we broke up with mum is WT's policy of shunning. I teach them to have their own FREE WILL AND THOUGHT and LOOK FOR ANSWERS.
I had "friends" in the WT. All of them are gone. They will speak to me only if I'm back in the WT. Their love is with TERMS AND CONDITIONS, while on the other hand Jesus is showing UNCONDITIONAL LOVE...You have the opportunity to break free completely from that evil cult. You can find REAL friends, that they truly love you. You can read any book you like, question everything, search everything. Freedom is the ultimate gift and done give that to anyone. IT BELONGS TO YOU...

Jehovah's Witnesses stance on serving in the military...
by garyneal inmy wife and i live in a military area so it is natural that we encounter a great number of people who have benefitted from it and are living fairly good lives.
my wife and i talked about this some last week when it was found out that the unbelieving husband of the jw who babysits our daughter is retired air force.
this would explain why they are living so well.

My personal experience with the WT was the "conscious issue" serving the Army. Back in the mid 80's then in my country they told us that when the time comes to join the Army, we will say that, "due to our trained Christian Conscious, we cannot join the Army". I recall that the "elders"they used to give guide lines for those who had the "neutrality issue". One of their basic guidelines for us was: NEVER SAY TO THE AUTHORITIES THAT THE WATCHTOWER IS TELLING YOU NOT TO JOIN THE ARMY. YOU MUST SAY THAT THIS IS YOUR PERSONAL DECISION BASED UPON YOUR CHRISTIAN CONSCIOUS...
So with this statement WT was saving their ass! The blame it was upon the brothers and the decision was theirs!!! Plus the Goverment couldn't blame legally WT that it is promoting an anti-army policy.
The most shameful part of the WT, was that in some countries they accepted ALTERNATIVE Service, while in my country they just didn't accept it. Many brothers suffered in prison for 3-5 years due to that policy. Then(as usual) WT came after few years and ACCEPTED Alternative Service for the brothers.
I recall when I had a discussion with a former JW on this matter. He said that were lucky because we are living in European Country. Imagine if we were living in an African regime. We would have been killed for sure!!! So just like the story of the Malawi Brothers, not many JW's recall that event. or what was happening in other countries on this issue. The GB those twisted old fools, they just follow the pattern that Booze Jo left as legacy for the WT. They find mechanisms to triger persecutions and blame it to the Devil(as usual)and that they are "God's chosen people"that they are suffering for the sake of the truth..."

The pattern of Christianity it is traced in many Ancient Religions: We have Crishna(does it sound familiar with Christ!)He was born from a Virgin Mother, perfomed miracles, had 12 disciples, He was called the Light of The World, he was killed and reserructed after 3 days!!! The same story it is found in the Egyptian Religion with Horus, the Greek Religion with Adonis. We have at least 12-14 old ancient religions repeating the same pattern of Christianity...
Have you ever heard about the Gnostic Gosples? The Gnostic Gospels were circulating the same era with the other Gospels. Then when the Orthodox Apostolic Church came with Bishop Athanasius and arranged the Biblical Cannon with the 76 Books, they rejected all the Gnostic Gospels, like the Gospel of Thomas, The Gospel of Judas, the Gospel of Mary Magdalene.(just to name a few). Specially the Gospel of Mary Magdalene, that clearly shows that in the Early Church, women had been Bishops and perfomed clergy duties among the first Christians. What was the reason not to accept it? Simply the just followed the Judaic system of priesthood and banned all women from having any clergy role at the Church...
Indeed there is a huge difference from the God(YHWH)of the Old Testament and Jesus. It seems like a childish God, that gets angry easyly, He is Jealous(I'm a Jealous God, you will worship no other God but Me). So how can a God be jealous and afraids from other God's that they are not even "true God's"? And what kind of God refuses for the first created Woman and Man the "knowledge of knowing good and bad"?
In the Gnostic Gospels we find a differend explanation than the Old Testament, regarding God. It describes that there are many Gods in different levels, and the God that Created this Universe, was not aware of the other levels that existed, higher than Him, and He became arrogant. That is why the other Gods. sent Jesus on Earth in order to fix the problems that they were created due to the arrogance and pride of the Creator of this World.
So in the start Christianity was so different. It had the Universal teaching of love, to share things with others, and most of all the Love Conquers all things. That is why Jesus was opposed to the Mosaic Law, He was opposed to the Scribes and Pharisees and their man made laws and actually seized that law with only one command: "Love your fellow person like your self". A complete different attitude from the God of the Old Testament that He required an Eye for an Eye...

As I have realize you are living in Cyprus!!! Paphos is a very nice town, specially at Sunsets...Indeed you have to get used to live with them. But this is the typical mediterranean mentality. They say that Cypriots, Greeks, Italians, Spaniards, are una fatsa una ratsa....meaning one face one race!!! They all have the same pattern of attitude, specially if you look British, Sweedish, or German...besides the bad characteristics they have and good ones, and they know to live life in the maximum!!!
Greeks they are the number one smokers in EU, they drink Ouzo and wine, they go outside to Bouzoukia clubs at 12 midnight(when the rest of the Europeans are sleeping!!!), they hardly sleep at all, and they have the longest life spam among the countries of EU... Ok I know they are never on time, or they are not programed, living everything at the last minute, but you take the good parts and ignore the bad ones...I guess one of the reasons you moved to Cyprus(the only country with a communist president in EU!!!)it is the climate, the sun shines 365 days a year, the exellent wine, and the fact that if you wish to do some snowboard in winter, you can take your car and in 1 hour you are in Troodos Mountains enjoying the snow, and then come down and have a swim at the blue sea...

So I finished reading the Origin of Species last night.....
by Mr. Falcon in...oh my.. i am not trying to start a creation vs. evolution debate, but something else really did stand out in my mind upon reading this "infamous" book.
and that is that the theory of evolution is a very complex and at times, logically interesting theory.
it makes valid points as well as asking fair and legitimate questions of the theory of creation.

Couple of years ago in my country there was a Bishop in a major T.V interview. The reporter asked him regarding evolution and how does the Orthodox Church deals about it. The answer was astonishing. The Bishop said that it is science job to say how did we evolved and how did life created on Earth. This is purely science and the Chruch DOES NOT interfear with Science matters. Our aim is not to explain how did life created. We are focusing on healing the soul and the spiritual nature of humans, since we so not have physical only physical nature.
So if God used Evolution to create life what is the problem with that!!!
