I have to help out at my daughter's preschool. Then I have to drive one of her classmates home. Then, after my son comes home from school, I told my friend I would go to her house and watch her daughter for her while she takes her grandma in for a cancer scan. And after dinner, I have to go work in the snack shack for my kids' t-ball league. So I guess just the usual hedonistic debauchery.

Well, we went for our walk. Didn't talk about anything heavy or important, just caught up what's been going on over the years we haven't seen each other. No JW preaching talk at all. When our walk was done, I invited her to stay, but she said she needed to get home to her husband. (Maybe I was reading into it, but she didn't sound thrilled about it, just resigned.) We made plans to meet up in a few weeks, again.
The interesting thing I got from our conversation, was it sounds like the local congregation had an elder shortage. She had mentioned a mutual family friend in passing, and I asked about if they had moved by us, and she said that the friend and husband were still living where I last knew them to be (not anywhere in my friend's territory) and she said that the mutual friend and her husband were going out of territory to go to friend's hall because there weren't enough elders that lived in the territory.

Most humiliating...
by Igot2bme ini was at home this morning typing up a couple legal documents for some general contractors to sign that were going to be doing some tree removal on my property, when i get a visit from a sister in the hall i used to attend.
she usually stops by at least once a week.
i haven't been to meetings for over a year now and didn't attend memorial this year, but she was quick to remind me how i missed out.

Yes, why do you let her keep coming?
I really resent that JW's think once you've left that you automatically forget everything that you were taught. I've told them more than once that just because I left it doesn't mean I forgot everything, it just means I don't believe it anymore.

How could Jesus be ruling the world since 1914 yet Satan is the ruler of the world?
by yadda yadda 2 injuly 2011 awake (p.5) says: the ruler of this world.
the bible states: the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one.
(john 12:31; 1 john 5:19) that wicked one is satan the devil, a powerful spirit creature who is described as the ruler of the authority of the air.

You know, I never questioned pretty much anything at all when I was in, but I always asked myself this exact question.

Contact! She called me today and said she's been having a hard time at work and said she wanted to do something outside and wanted to know if I wanted to bring my kids and meet her at a park or something. I actually am getting some kid-free time and my husband has to work, so we have plans to meet up and go for a walk tomorrow.

Are You Surprised That Certain Witnesses Are Still Associated?
by minimus ini am.
i know some pretty sharp, critically minded people, and i am surprised they still are active witnesses.

No, I'm not. My husband says time and again he can't believe that my mom is a JW, because she is just far too smart to ever be one. I keep telling him he'll never understand why, and not to waste time thinking about it.

How active are you?
by free2beme inthey say that as a society, we are all getting fatter and fatter.
so i ask, how active are you?
if you took a snap shot of the last five days, can you find moments of exercise or doing something besides sitting in front of the computer, lifting a remote or fork, or perhaps walking to get the mail?

Sadly, not very at all. I'm actually tackling the "growing waistline" problem on the other end, and I make sure my family and I eat very healthily, and we're all at a very good weight. I think, no, I KNOW, that I'm very lazy when it comes to excersize, and I won't make an effort unless I start getting bigger. My husband is an exercise nut, and he keeps trying to prod me into activity, but I'm sad to say I really haven't made an effort for more than a few weeks.
Shout out to a fellow Oregonian!!!

Why I Love the NFL and Why You Should Too Part I: Place Kickers
by sabastious ini get a lot of flack for loving american football and the nfl.
i have noticed that most people either love it or they hate it.
this blog is dedicated to the player, coaching and managing positions within nfl teams and why they make for a strong and effective entertainment cocktail.. .

I want my son to grow up to be a place kicker. They have a reputation for being the, um "oddballs" (or should I say the ones with a highly developed sense of humor) of the team. That would fit his personality. I also like the fact that it is a penalty to tackle them, so they can go through their football career mostly untouched. He wants to be a veterinarian, though.

by undercover inleavingwt mentioned on another thread the age of his wife when she was baptized.
she was a child.

13. I didn't do it because I wanted to, I did it because I felt like everyone was thinking I should.
