Whahappened. I understand the point you are making. It does depend how compos mentis he is though I suppose. I have a neighbour who is 83 and a professor of medicine. He still co-authors papers and writes reviews. He is articulate and sharp. He is also a complete pain in the arse. If I discovered he was stranded somewhere I'd leave him there and go for a beer.

People over 60 are vulnerable? Where on earth do you get that impression? I know plenty of people over 60 who are no more vulnerable than people 20 years younger. Many of them travel all over the world. Two of them teach martial arts lol.

As an aside, how does someone study for several years? When I was in the Borg I don't recall studies that lasted several years.

Having a lifestyle that isn't compatible with one's religious beliefs doesn't usually result in a person leaving the religion surely? I would have thought that if she believes what she is studying is true then she has a conflict between what she believes about the world and her own sexuality. If that is the case then she is to be pitied as it will either lead to enforced celibacy, marriage of convenience (the elders told me to get married!), occasional sin and repentance until the elders find out and boot her out or leaving the BOrg under her own steam when she realises what a CoS it all is.
i seem to remember articles concerning jws not being allowed to watch or participate in boxing matches because of how violent they are.
i did a search yet can't seem to find anything.

the following are questions raised by coffee_black that deserve a response:.
opening note: often times we here how rome cherry-picked the bible to suit their doctrine, yet many people, mostly non-catholics demand that only the bible sola scriptura be used as the canon of the faith.
there is a serious inconsistency in such a demand that both worships the bible on one hand and then condemns the church which compiled that very same book on the other hand; the very same church, and the only church which formally declared the bible is inspired 800 years after jesus christ!.
Hi Amazing - I am not trying to use the scripture I refer to other than as an interesting measure. I have no interest in the Bible, Christianity, Jesus or any other religion other than as a phenomenon. The reference to fruit is simply a means of saying that one can tell what a group or organisation is like by looking at what it produces over time. Whilst I would accept that there are good catholics, I would be surprised if there were any more as a proportion than atheists or agnostics. Whatever we criticise the WTS (and I hate it with a passion) it has never - burned people at the stake or supported wars.
