As a teenager, I once wore an ankle bracelet to the meeting and was immediately rushed into the back room and told it was a big NO-NO, as only Israelites prostitutes wore them..................

What Things Were YOU Counseled For?
by minimus inelders love to counsel people.
it feeds their ego.
over the years, you must've been counseled on different things.. when i was almost of age to become a ms, an elder counseled me for my "lack of seriousness".

To Angel Eyes & Other WT Apologists
by snowbird init has come to my attention that a much-beloved poster on this forum has been hurt by the insensitivity shown toward her account of how badly she was treated by the wt.. i realize this is a place where are all welcome, and barring any posting guidelines violations, we are free to air our views without fear of any backlash.. however, please keep in mind that most posters here - yours truly being one of them - view the wt in a negative light.
with all the evidence out there pertaining to its deceitfulness, how can anyone view it otherwise?.
i reached out to you, angel eyes, because i sense that you need a friend.

I loved your little anecdote, Brinjen.
Sad that 12 complied and only 3 didn't.

Bloodguilt
by Lady Lee inthe way i understood the teaching of bloodguilt was that if i stumbled someone and they sinned because of it i was bloodguilty.. can anyone elaborate on that or have some wt quotes to explain it?.
-

If you stumble someone and they leave the truth because of you, you are bloodguilty.
If you don't go in the preaching work, you are bloodguilty.
We had an issue one time in our cong with young people "car-surfing" ( one person drives and someone else stands on the roof and "surfs" ). One of the elders explained it to me that just the act of doing that makes the driver bloodguilty and even more so if the person was killed. So I think even the act of "endangering" someone ( for example: speeding or driving recklessly ) is considered to make you blodguilty.

Do you like to gamble?
by JimmyPage innow that you're out of the jws do you gamble?
occasionally or regularly?
what's the most you've won?

Last Friday night was the first time I ever gambled.
I made three $5 bets on harness racing at the pub and I won $87 all together. I admit I was only betting on their colors..... But I think it was probably beginner's luck..........

I just don't know what to say.
I'm awed by your commitment to your children and granchildren, humbled by your example, saddened by your circumstances, hopeful for your future.
You and your dear wife are in my prayers tonight.

Did you have a bad night, Clarinetist?
Yes, I've experienced this. I remember this one performance where I totally bombed. Don't know what happened - probably over-thinking it all. I try not to think about it, and when I do, I tell myself that likely nobody else there knew how bad I bombed.....

I'm Still Torn About the Blood Issue
by palmtree67 inwhen i left the org.
the blood issue wasn't an issue for me.
my best friend was on the blood committee for years and i could see many cases where either blood wouldn't have saved the person anyways (like when a person is in a serious car accident and their liver is in pieces), or blood actually killed the person and/or hindered recovery.. then my little nephew got leukemia.

the futility of 1-ply vs 2-ply toilet paper (debate)
by SnakesInTheTower inover on my literature burning thread, someone jokingly suggested that when the big a comes i am going to regret not saving that paper for toilet paper..... this made me think of recent discussions my fiancee and i have had on this subject.. when we first started dating about 4 months ago, i would come to their apartment for coffee or dinner...after awhile i started spending the night.
one thing i noticed was the toilet paper.
lousy one-ply.

OK, but what was the final decision on the toilet paper???
