ATJ's are worth a read.

for any brother who is a jehovah's witness, the goal is put before them to reach out for the privilege of being an elder.
i can only speak for myself, but being born into the religion, i wanted to be an elder since i was 5. i would have much rather wanted to be a doctor or engineer, but those are the breaks..... i'll skip the part about what it takes to reach out, all the crap you have to put up with as a ministerial servant to get appointed, and go straight to the reality.. i know many elders who sincerely just wanted to be shepherds.
i did want the spotlight.

in life, i usually trust new people, at least on face value, until i discover otherwise.
yet, my normal belief system is now in doubt.
i've just replied to a thread started by 'goldensky' - an alleged spanish lady with lots of history as an extremely devout jw in spain.
When I was a JW and being stalked and harrassed by a group of "sisters", people in the Org. either 1) didn't believe me or 2) didn't want to hear that such a thing could be going on in "the truth".
When I told my story here, no one called me a troll or doubted my story. ( Not to my face, anyways.....lol )
It was the first real time I felt HEARD.
My personal experience is that, it is hard to be a newbie here. Everyone seems to know everyone else already and it takes a while to figure out the technicalities and posting etiquettes.
Let's give the newbies the benefit of the doubt until at least.........post #250 before we start calling them trolls.
did you notice any young jw sisters in the past that did rush to get married too young and to have a baby right away before the end comes?
did you hear any stories of regret?
i was wondering if the watchtower is to blame for?.
ATJ:
"If you are a single brother in your mid 20's and are single, well, gay or not, thats the whispers."
This is so true!! It was one of the things that made my boyfriend leave the Org. When he was in his mid-20's to 30 years old, people speculated that maybe he wasn't getting married cus he was gay........OMG. What other reason could there be????
He is sooooo NOT gay.
a couple of weeks ago, an ex-bethelite(10 years) by the name of mel smith was disfellowshipped.
i understand that he still lives in ny are and has a mortgage company.
evidently, he was hurt while serving at the farm and watchtower did some horrible things to him.
Just for the record, I DO NOT resemble a palm tree in any way......

Some of the older ones are in a hurry, too.
One couple I knew of in their 50's. He was a recent widower, she was a divorcee.
He was marrying for sex, she was marrying for money.
Neither one got what they wanted.
They divorced less than 2 years later and now niether one can get married again.
from the watchtower november 15 study edition.. 19 when we are being represented in public prayer, we need to display reverential "fear of god.
" (1 pet 2:17) there may be a proper time and place for some actions that would be inappropriate at a christian meeting.
(eccl 3:1) for instance, suppose someone sought to have all in a group link arms or hold hands during prayer.
Makes me appreciate Simon even more.
I can sit in front of my computer buck naked and Simon doesn't care.

Seriously, what is the matter with these people?

I've never seen a group of people so intent on destroying each other, bringing each other down, and making every other person feel like crap!!
i decided to join the group though im reading this forum since years now.
i almost know you all....by nickname i mean..... my husband joined you a few years ago already.
but i do not feel so free of speech because english is not my mother tongue, but i read a lot english books, have some relations with english speaking people, have a nice friend who is active on this forum and very known (because of her discoveries), so i will try to do my best.
Boujour et bienvenue!
when i left the org.
the blood issue wasn't an issue for me.
my best friend was on the blood committee for years and i could see many cases where either blood wouldn't have saved the person anyways (like when a person is in a serious car accident and their liver is in pieces), or blood actually killed the person and/or hindered recovery.. then my little nephew got leukemia.
Thank you, TD.
That puts the original decision to ban blood transfusions into a better historical perspective for me.
Much appreciated,
