Let me introduce myself - slimboyfat
by slimboyfat ini was simultaneously compelled and repelled by narkissoss suggestion that it may be healthy to present a story of how we became witnesses that we can now own as former or disillusioned witnesses.
if we can now own it wouldnt it necessarily be a betrayal?
whose story is it, mine or a former self or just wishful thinking?

If you are self employed in the USA, do you have health insurance?
by Iamallcool inone of my family members is considering to be self employed.
do you have any health insurance recommendations?
how much are you paying them each month?
-
darthfader
I am self employed, about 5 years ago when I started my policy, my monthly insurance premium was about $440. Which this last incease, my current premium is $991. My premium has doubled in less than 5 years. My Wife an I go to the doctor annually, take some minor generic medicines and are relatively good health for mid 40s and lots of work stresses. Each time we get our annual review for Insurance Premiums, the letter says if not our risk factors, but the general cost of health care. I have a hard time beleiving that health care costs have doubled in the mast 5 years...

How would SOPA affect us?
by Aussie Oz ini note a lot of recent news about sopa and both sides of the story.. i hope this will not turn into a debate about it or its legalities or the constitution, it's about the effect of it itself.. mixed in no doubt is a large amount of speculation from both sides as to how it will or will not work and the 'freedoms' under threat.
i beleive the concept of protecting intelectual property etc is fine, as i want the same protection for my artwork etc, but i gather this bill may go to far as it were.... many feel it will adversely effect the internet in as diverse ways as making sites shut down either by force in in self protection such as etsy, flickr, utube, wikipedia and social networking sites.. is it all being blown out of proportion?.
do we as an online community very used to posting, cut n paste, links etc face the risk of simon having to pull the pin?.

this site can have a claim raised by a 'copyright owner' and the government could have your ISP block it.... so no site would be safe from censorship.

Like a hamster ball for cats.. You would think that the cats would "figure it out" that they weren't getting anywhere...

What's your Myers-Briggs?
by Londo111 ini am infp.. some former witnesses in my hometown had a meetup last night...alas, only four of us.
but it turned out we had an infp(me), two infjs, and an enfp.
therefore, it turned out we were all idealists.

"A growing body of evidence..."[12] (Where is the raw data for your review?)
"People say..." (Which people? How do they know?)
"It has been claimed that..." (By whom, where, when?)
"Critics claim..." (Which critics?)
"Clearly..." (As if the premise is undeniably true)
"It stands to reason that..." (Again, as if the premise is undeniably true—see "Clearly" above)
"Questions have been raised..." (Implies a fatal flaw has been discovered)
"I heard that..." (Who told you? Is the source reliable?)
"There is evidence that..." (What evidence? Is the source reliable?)
"Experience shows that..." (Whose experience? What was the experience? How does it demonstrate this?)
"It has been mentioned that..." (Who are these mentioners? Can they be trusted?)
"Popular wisdom has it that..." (Is popular wisdom a test of truth?)
"Commonsense has it/insists that..." (The common sense of whom? Who says so? See "Popular wisdom" above, and "It is known that" below)
"It is known that..." (By whom and by what method is it known?)
"Officially known as..." (By whom, where, when—who says so?)
"It turns out that..." (How does it turn out?)
"It was noted that..." (A commonly used start of a line by Auditors with poor workpapers or little evidence)
"See why more of our trucks are sold in Southern California than in any other part of the country." (Southern California is a big vehicle market.)
"Nobody else's product is better than ours." (What is the evidence of this?)
"Studies show..." (what studies?)
"(The phenomenon) came to be seen as..." (by whom?)
"Some argue..." (who?)
"Up to sixty percent..." (so, 59%? 50%? 10%?)
"More than seventy percent..." (How many more? 70.01%? 80%? 90%?)
"The vast majority..." (All, more than half—how many?)
All of those sound pretty familiar to me...

Am I still an Ex JW?
by darthfader ini was thinking the other day about being an ex jehovahs witness... will i always be an ex jw?
will i know when im no longer an ex jw?
what can i do to become less of an ex jw and more of a normal person (whatever that is)... for me, being a jw was a little like a cross between the firm and hotel california where i feel like, at any point, one of the friends will spot me and either accost me or report me to the elders.

Sab, I am eager to erase the line.
SST, I agree and am in the same boat with ya.
3d1h, Thank you!
Clear, no thanks... I'd like to erase the letters J and W from the list completely :)
