Science and the supernatural - thoughts and opinions wanted
by freshstart ini definitely support science, i think that the entire field is fascinating.
the things that have been discovered and that will be discovered in the future is mind-boggling.
i do wonder, however, if there is some things that science can't explain.

Does anyone remember the short lived seiries called "Salvage" which ran in 79? I really liked that show as a kid:

RIP Nora Ephron
by Farkel inthank you for your remarkable contributions, awesome humor, wit and sensitivity in the cinema.
you were a ground-breaking female director, and intuitively knew as a writer how to entertain people, make people laugh, make people cry and give people joy.
no one but you could make guys love "chick movies" when they really aren't wired to do that!.

Wow I actually liked about 4 of the movies on that list. It's a bummer that we sometimes don't know what we've got until it's gone...

Interesting Point: The Importance of Current Events is Amplified by our Egos
by darthfader insnippet:.
1. current events and the ego.
people use drama to report events of their own times, always making it appear more important than past events of similar or greater importance.

Snippet:
1. Current Events and the Ego
People use drama to report events of their own times, always making it appear more important than past events of similar or greater importance. The first century Jewish historian Josephus bemoaned this aspect of Human nature two thousand years ago1 and our egos show no sign of letting us be more objective. I believe it is the common ego of the normal person that makes current events in the world around us seem more significant and cataclysmic than times gone before.
Those who lived through the industrial revolution reported that Humanity was going through its most significant and disastrous change. Those who now live through the technological, internet-based revolution think the same: Now is a time of wonderful change! But I think all times are times of change, and that our changes are akin to the changes of history, and will be dwarfed by the changes of the future.

So ... what happens when we die?
by sacolton inwhat do you personally believe happens after we die?
i don't believe we really know everything about god or the afterlife.
i do believe that we do transform to something beyond our physical comprehension.

Anyone Besides Me Have Difficulty Saying The Word "Jehovah"?
by Low-Key Lysmith ineven when i was a devout witless, i always winced a bit when i heard or especially had to utter "jehovah".
it's just one of those uncomfortable words to say like "colostomy", "vagina", or "erectile dysfunction"..

Each time I say it I get a little twinge of irritation and disgust.
Each time I speak the name, I must spend 2112 milliseconds in reverence to the Watchmaker (blessed be he who makes things tick)...

It's nice to see all the homages to the Watchmaker (blessed be he who makes things tick). I don't a actually have a PP, I just worthip them, they way the Watchmaker intended it.
I used to have an older Seiko with a black dial and 3 little yellow dials (I don't remember what they were for - I think one was the alarm).
Funny thing I remember my Dad getting one of the first digital watches. On one fo the first nights he had it, he wore it to bed. With the red glowing display he moved his arm late one night and scared the hell out of my step mother -- who jumped out of bed yelling demons!! (true story)...
cheers!

CONVENTION FALSE INFORMATION - STOP IT BROTHERS!
by The Searcher inwe are always urged to "make sure of all things", namely, that anything we preach or teach is verifiable and true.
especially when we are referring to the bible.. at our convention, two things which came from the platform made me cringe, especially as one of the statements came from a regular and experienced convention speaker.
first; "over a quarter of a million new brothers and sisters were baptized last year - doesn't this show love on jehovah's part that he is allowing time for such ones to get to know him".

Are they implying that "new scrolls" refer to the literature? I've heard those two words before - but it's didn't dawn on me as to their significance.
