Babygirl, Similar happened in my area recently. A couple got married, and she had her sister as matron of honour. She is unbaptised, definitely not a witness, hadn't been to any meetings in years...yet she was in the wedding AT the hall! Yet, another couple couldn't have their friend in their wedding because she was inactive. At least you still get to go....that's a plus. Lots of weddings here, if you're inactive, aren't allowed to use the KH. So if you marry somewhere else, say in a garden somewhere, brothers and sisters are discouraged from attending because you are inactive. So very sad.

"not a good example"
by LoriJis ini have a concern i guess or just want to vent.
my husband and i - as most of you know - we're married just a little under 2 months and you all know at that point i was still "active" in the org.
we had a few issues with our bridal party - namely the groom - cuz according to them he wasnt a good example and not in good status because they hadn't seen him at the meetings or in service for like 2 months.

The acceptable way to beat your wife
by Elsewhere insure does remind me of the recent book study about beating one's wife.. at least the women are speaking up and demanding that beatings stop!.

Is hanky spanky the same as hanky panky? I think Madonna had a song called that.

Sounds great! As yet I don't have an xmas tree or anything remotely xmasey, but I'm working on my conscience to allow me it...lol. How long have we got before we let you know whether we are willing to accept anything xmasey? Just so I have time to think about it :) I'll still definitely be in on the gift giving though :)

Well, when I was an active JW, I worked as a teacher in both a Montessori and Catholic school. With the Montessori, there was nothing remotely religious about it. In fact, lots of witness children attend Montessori schools over here. Obviously the catholic one was well, catholic. When the class went to do their prayers, I took them...but left the room. Simple. I taught them nothing religious because they had a specific teacher who did this, once a day. The classroom teacher just taught them general studies. I never was spoken to about it by the elders, but I'm not certain they knew. If they did, it might have been a different story. I would have argued however that I taught nothing religious, just general studies.

I'm about to do my Masters too :) I have my Bachelors, but need to stimulate my brain...lol. It will take 2yrs but will be worth it :) I'll be on campus as a full time student. My children are under school age, and like you will only have time to study at home once they're in bed. That's why being on campus during the day is invaluable. You will have access to lecturers and the library, without interruptions at home. Go for it!

My sister escapes, and is moving in with me...
by creativhoney inwell, i'm really happy to say that my sister has seen sense and exited.
she has decided not to go to the elders and have a judical because as she sees it, they have nothing over her and she does not need to answer them.. my family are very good at the ignoring.
- they have completely and utterly cut me off.

Oracle, please tell us the rest of the story!! I'm wondering why they didn't burn the photo, seeing as it was intent on finding them.
I've heard so many stories of demons doing this and that, and 'being right outside the house, but they won't come inside as the angels are here'. I've known people who burn books because they think they're possessed, or people who wake during the night with a creepy feeling and then put outside the last thing that came into the house.
I remember a girl I knew swore blind that she saw a tissue float out of a box beside her. She thought she'd imagined it, so waited and again it happened. It was inside the house, no wind about. She quickly threw the box outside!
