  yeah ill go with the trend.. i was hot and sweaty and ripped off my shirt in record-setting 85 degree chicago weather in april, and walked around in some shorts and i got no attention from chicks man.

  Meet up in the UK this summer ?

  summer is nearly upon us and it would be great to arrange a 'get together' (wt speak) sometime so that some of us could meet up.

  i thought i'd give plenty warning so that we can arrange something and get suggestions for venue etc .... i was thinking of a nice hotel (with a pool if pos) and nearby to somewhere suitable for a family day out.. people could just go for the day or stop for a weekend as they preferred and we could do things as families during the day and then have a meal in the evening, have a few beers etc .... we're near manchester but don't mind travelling for a couple of hours or so (we have 2 small kids) - in fact, it would be nice to go somewhere like wales, the lake district, the peak district ... you get the idea (just away from the cobbled streets and slums).. if anyone has any ideas or suggestions then let us have them!.

  Women keep looking at me.

  it started about 2 years ago, but its picking up.

  i keep catching women looking at me with that look, that look i'm used to only getting from other guys.. this is making me tense, yet in some ways jolly.. i'm not sure what the proper facial expression is to give in return.. i cannot figure out why its happening to me now.

  is it the greying beard, the balding head, the bulging ---, oh, right, it can't be that.. please explain this extraordinary phenomenon.. joel

  Save Me!

  i've heard alot of jehovah's witnesses say that the won't say that a catholic person isn't going to be saved.

  their resoning is that a catholic person could be in the paradise.

  ok if a catholic person can inherit the earth and a jw can inherit the earth, what the hell does it matter?

  JWs don’t believe that they are automatically saved just because they‘re JW. They don’t believe in the 'once saved always saved doctrine of the Born Again’s.' God will judge the individual and we have no right to judge whether an individual will be saved by God. Some the less mature Jws may believe other wise.

  Anyone paying attention wouldn’t think they will be saved...lol I know I didn’t. I could never live up the their human expectations and I haven’t even committed any gross sins. If you aren’t a pioneer than your wicked etc...

  How about an Overseer for the Elderly??

  i was telling my daughter in law about this ongoing saga, with the elders and my mother.

  she isn't a jw, and attends a christian church.. when i told her about calling the local elder, who is the presiding overseer, she asked me why i called that elder.

  "is he the one in charge of helping the elderly?

  I bet every elder would jump at the chance for that assignment. Overseeing the elderly... hahah Yeah right! Don't you think it would be considered by many of them to be a lesser assigment.

  More on my Mom and the elders

  mom and i have both talked to the elders at her kh, to tell them what the guy at patterson told us........that there is no problem with her living here, and that people should be visiting her.

  mom misunderstood, and thought she was supposed to call all the elders.

  i am sure the fellow meant to tell an elder, so he could tell the others.

  I would call the CO and tell him what this elder said to your frail ninety year old devout JW mother. How can they call themselves ministers, this really makes me sick. They are worse than some priests. They criticize how priests aren’t compassionate. At least the Catholic priests visit the elderly in nursing homes. Of course donations are expected by the priests. But, as JW they aren’t supposed to care about receiving anything back. All they care about is pushing those mags and making new disciples. The old ones that can’t go out in service are forgotten.

  EEK! They came to my house!

  was expecting a girlfriend over this morning - rushed to the door when bell rang.

  to my surprise/horror, there were 2 jws ... apparently when my mother was visiting last summer, she had mentioned to these "sisters" to come stop by every once in a while, to encourage me to go to meetings.

  they were inviting me to the special talk this sunday ... i politely told them, thanks for the invitation but i already had plans for sunday (sleeping in) ... i don't want to be rude, b/c these 2 particular women are pleasant (it could very well be a farce) but how do i get across to them that i do not wish to be visited in the future?

  If they come back. Ask them for their email. Talk about how your always on the internet. Tell them how you would love to send them interesting articles about JWs. Think they would get the hint.
