I wasn't raised as a JW but was dumb and believed it was the truth from a JW friend. I fell in love with a boy who was kinda raised in it, he wasn't baptized at the time. I was 18 when I got married to him and 19 when I got baptized, and he was 22. I was persuaded not to marry him because he wasn't spiritual enough from my friend and the elders at the k.hall. I didn't care what they said. We only attended the k.hall for 5 years and now have zero part of it and we are still happily married and more in love then ever. I remember an elder that told us he never sees a couple who gets married before getting baptized succeeding in their marriage. Our marriage over powered the witness cult, haha. My 'friend' still isn't married because she will only marry someone with a dumb title like elder or c.o. She'll be 30 before she knows it and still living with mommy and daddy because of false ideals her parents and witnesses have given to her. We married for love, not for prominence. Love Never Fails.

Baptism Questions??
by lepermessiah inthis forum tends to get me thinking about things from the past and then roll my eyes.. i was recalling a particular pharasee in the congregation who used to love showing everyone how "smart" he was.. when i would go over the questions with someone, we would fly through them because it was usually with kids who were raised as jw's and could answer then in their sleep.
(besides the fact it was an "open book" quiz.).
well, mr pharasee used to always make it into a marathon session and take 2-3 hours to go over one section of the questions with someone.. he could take a simple question like "what is god's name?

Only the 1985 questions have the person say yes to being one of jehovahs witnesses in association with the Organization. What does that mean for all those who were baptized before that year?
Baptismal questions from the August 1, 1966 Watchtower, p. 465:
(1) Have you recognized yourself before Jehovah God as a sinner who needs salvation, and have you acknowledged to him that this salvation proceeds from him, the Father, through his Son Jesus Christ?
(2) On the basis of this faith in God and in his provision for salvation, have you dedicated yourself unreservedly to God to do his will henceforth as he reveals it to you through Jesus Christ and through the Bible under the enlightening power of the holy spirit?Baptismal questions from the May 15, 1970 Watchtower, p. 309:
(1) Have you recognized yourself as a sinner and needing salvation from Jehovah God? And have you acknowledged that this salvation proceeds from him and through his ransomer, Christ Jesus?
(2) On the basis of this faith in God and in his provision for redemption have you dedicated yourself unreservedly to Jehovah God, to do his will henceforth as that will is revealed to you through Christ Jesus and through God's Word as his holy spirit makes it plain?Baptismal questions from the May 1, 1973 Watchtower, p. 280:
(1) Have you repented of your sins and turned around, recognizing yourself before Jehovah God as a condemned sinner who needs salvation, and have you acknowledged to him that this salvation proceeds from him, the Father, through his Son Jesus Christ?
(2) On the basis of this faith in God and in his provision for salvation, have you dedicated yourself unreservedly to God to do his will henceforth as he reveals it to you through Jesus Christ and through the Bible under the enlightening power of the holy spirit? The newest baptismal questions, from the June 1, 1985 Watchtower:
(1) On the basis of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, have you repented of your sins and dedicated yourself to Jehovah to do his will?
(2) Do you understand that your dedication and baptism identify you as one of Jehovah's Witnesses in association with God's spirit-directed organization? -

Hard times for Target employees
by moshe ini had a part time job at the local target store and i noticed in june they started cutting hours-consolidating positions.
many who were formerly fulltime with very good medical benefits found themselves with only 15 hours of work each week and expensive prescriptions that were no longer covered by insurance.
when i moved this summer i was transferred to a store down here in florida and they refused to give me any hours.

My husbands brother works there and he is always having his hours cut back to like 3 days a week. He was working many hours for a while then cut him back. It seems like they have many employees who don't work that often.

I think different congregations respond differently to divorcing. I knew a couple who were married for a couple years and had a child. They didn't get along very well and the exuse was they got married very young so it was okay to get a divorce. They divorced then the man remarried someone else shortly after being divorced. He and his new wife went to a different k.hall so they wouldn't run into his ex wife. No disfellowshipping for either partner and even when he got remarried he didn't get disfellowshipped. I will never understand the watchtower rules. I guess he just couldn't hold a microphone for a while as his punishment.

Have you Overcome Guilt & Fear Since Exiting Jehovah's Witnesses ?
by flipper inminimus had a great thread recently asking if any who were witnesses felt guilt as a jehovah's witness.
thought i would build on that a little dealing with how you have moved on after being a jehovah's witness ?.
one definition of guilt in the american heritage dictionary is : " self-reproach for supposed inadequacy or wrongdoing ".

Luckily,I was only a JW for 5 yrs. At first I felt very guilty for not attending meetings or field service. I was never terrified about armaggeddon so that didn't bother me. I just felt guilty because of the idea that meetings and field service saves you and when a person stops doing those things then you are disappointing Jehovah. It only took a few months to get over the guilt and fear for me. I stopped going at the end of last december and I kept thinking that I would attend the memorial, out of fear and guilt, but when that time rolled around my husband and I did not attend because we no longer felt that it was important and that the watchtower followers do not have the truth. I finally feel FREE to be me!! No one has came to see how we are doing. its like we are being shunned, even though we aren't disfellowshipped.
I had a good JW friend, or so I thought, send us an email saying we are serving satan because we don't go to meetings.she is very convinced we are going to die. she grew up in the religion so you know her mind is a mess, she could never leave because thats where all her family and friends are. she is controlled without even knowing it. I feel bad for her, but she won't even communicate with me at this point. I am happy I seen 'the light' after 5 years and am free to move on. I do not have family that are jw so it was easier to leave. many events led husband and I to doubt the watchtower it just took time for us to tell one another what was bothering us and then we left. we held what we felt from one another thinking we would stumble eachother. another control tactic of the watchtower was telling you if you think you may stumble someone then refrain from doing it or else you could commit a death sin. so naturally we didnt tell eachother what we felt. So, freedom is what we now have and sweet it is.

harry potter. I wanted to watch it so bad but felt guilty of even thinking of watching it. they would say at the platform that it was demonic because of the magic in it and everyone from our cong. felt that way. Now my husband and I watch it whenever we want...guilt-free!!

PRIVATE PROPERTY! KEEP OUT!
by highdose inhow many times have we all seen that sign in the minstry?
also " no salesman" , " no harkers" etc.
in my congo it was the policy to ignore these completly, the poor people who just wanted to be left alone never had a chance.. i on the otherhand used to use it as an exhuse to fast forward on to the next house and finish up the ministry quicker.... what was your experiance?.

If a no trespassing sign was faded and not new looking, the people I was often in the car with would say the homeowner needs to replace that sign and probably doesn't care anymore if someone comes to their house!!! luckily the homeowner was often not home when that happened.

A question for the faders on here
by JWinprotest inthe other day our meeting was cancelled and we didn't even get a call from the elders to advise us.
i take that as a sign that our fade is working.
the next step i would like to implement is not turning in a field service report.

we didn't really fade away. haha. we just never went back after a meeting with the elders and 9 months later and they still haven't tried to find out why we stopped going. so loving! they'll just forget about you especially if you aren't attending meetings regularly.

Everytime a JW is losing an arguement, they start bashing Catholics......What do Catholics have to do with JW problems?..............OUTLAW
Catholics and Jws are similar, so I thought it always strange that they make fun of catholics. The witnesses have many titles and positions, so do the catholics. the witnesses disfellowship, the catholics ex-communicate, the witnesses believe they have the truth and follow the watchtowers every word, the catholics believe they have the truth and follow the pope. The catholic church may not have as much of a strong hold on its members in this country, U.S., but they have a strong hold on its members in lets say Ireland. The people there are afraid to question their church, afraid of not being allowed to communicate with their families, similar to how the witnesses have a fear of losing their families if questioning the watchtower. The only difference with the watchtower is I think its much stricter and it doesn't really matter where you live, the watchtower has control over your life.
