  Name Things JWs Believe That Are Not Actually Biblically Provable

  here's one example: being a congregation publisher.

  nowhere in the bible does it say you should be a "publisher" and turn in your time if you preach.

  they try to twist the scriptures by saying that numbers are constantly being recorded in the bible so then conforming to the rules of being a publisher is from the scriptures.. yeah, right..

  Apostate question

  i have been df'd now for almost 4 years.

  of his congregation (or whatever it is that they are called now).

  today at work, he surprised me with is presence and asked if i have been going to any church services or attending a church regularly because if i had then i would be considered apostate.

  He also made it a point to say that "this is all he can say on the subject".

  This is either because he doesn't know anything else, they are being lied to about something, or they are being told to do this. Either way, I figured if these people keep saying Armageddon is coming, then it won't. I highly doubt God is going to allow anyone on the face of this earth to say "See? We told you so!"

  What I do know is that when their membership numbers start declining, they whip up 'the end is near' fervor. It has happened many times in the past 135 years. I suspect it will continue happening.

  The Purpose Of The Preaching Work

  jehovah is apparently allowing the preaching work to continue to save as many people as possible.

  (that's what i was always told and read anyway.).

  last time i checked population growth far outsrips the growth of jehovah's witnesses.

  If the end ain't gonna come until the entire world has been given a thorough witness, then we're gonna be waiting here a loooong time.

  So if a person has never been preached to and they pass away, or the Big A comes before they can be preached to (like babies), how does that fit with "the entire world being given a thorough witness"? It's impossible to accomplish witnessing to everyone. I always wondered about people like this. Does this mean these people don't get a resurrection? Even some of the people I work with have no idea who the Jehovah's Witnesses are.

  This says to me that JWs aren't doing what they say they are doing. And even further, they aren't capable of doing it. I was never able to swallow that they could accomplish this goal of preaching to every living person year after year on the face of the earth. The math doesn't support it either.

  From my understanding of the Bible, not everyone is to be a preacher, evangelist, or teacher. Once again, the WTS is not following scripture.

  This can only lead one to conclude that the purpose for the preaching work is to hand out publications in the hopes of signing up new recruits while expecting current members to pay (donate) for the publications and ask them to collect donations when they hand out publications. To me, it's a business tactic to grow the organization in membership and in monies donated/collected.

  Why's everybody getting divorced????!

  this is insanity!

  literally four couples that i know closely & personally have told me in the last two weeks that they are divorcing their spouses.

  and there are a couple on here whom i've discovered are separating as well (these two i do not know personally, but i'm a little surprised & saddened regardless).

  homeschool... I think it depends on the people involved. For me, it was because my spouse no longer wanted the marriage and was being abusive towards me. He's never been able to answer why. I believe I know why from my observations. One of the issues is that he never figured out what he wanted out of life. So he went along with me, but ultimately, it angered him immensely. He suffers from rage and took it out on me. He was unwilling to get help. Everyone got to interact with Dr. Jekyll and I lived with Mr. Hyde. You cannot force someone to love you and when they decide they want something else, there's not much you can do.

  I was dying in my marriage and I had to end it. I found I was the only one in it. My hubby admitted to me after we split that he had left the entire responsibility of the relationship up to me, that he is lazy, that he didn't know why he married me, and that he treated me poorly. He has yet to seek the specialized help that was recommended to him.

  What I know is the following:

  1) You need to have a principled foundation on which you base yourself.

  2) You need to know what you want in life.

  If you do not have these 2 things, a marriage is not going to work. Your other relationships will have difficulty as well.

  Yes, I have read "The Five Love Languages" by Gary Chapman. It is an excellent book. Bottom line is that even if the two of you have different love languages, it is up to the both of you to make the marriage work. When you find you are the only one in the relationship, it's over unless your partner wants to truly work at fixing it.

  I don't agree with the statement about marriage taking the romance out of the relationship. I believe the people involved in the marriage do. I know couples who have been married for years and they still have lots of romance. It is up to the two of you. You both have to make the effort.

  Good question! I think someone was being a bad boy at one time. I believe they were reprimanded. Funny how 'Quality Assurance' seems to be lacking there in Bethel as they didn't catch these before they were printed and distributed.

  But check out the latest pictures of Christ on the torture stake. The recent one I have is from the November 2008 Watchtower (the one about Hell with the orangey-red cover).

  Riddle me this... how does this picture accurately portray Christ on the stake when the scriptures at John 20:25 and Matthew 27:37 are not represented in this painting?

  I believe the WTS has some serious issues knowing and understanding the Bible as well as their lack of Quality Assurance.

  while i have come to distain religious organizations, i do believe that the practical wisdom recorded in holy writings is of value in determining how things really are.

  take, for instance, proverbs 12:15: "the way of the foolish one is right in his own eyes, but the one listening to counsel is wise.

  I posted this on another thread earlier... this is what I have observed about life...

  I believe that life is the journey of all of us learning about and moving from an expectation of perfection into the realization and truth of love, tolerance, and understanding.

  The WTS expects perfection which is impossible to achieve. Another reason I never joined.

  My guess is as follows.... All of them except the second one (hand with green ring) are demons or parts of demons of some sort. The one with the hand and green ring is similar to a pentagram.

  once again, not a verbatim transcript, but the points i thought seemed pertinent from this talk...once agian, all it seems to be talking about is the end, but did manage a swipe at the internet as well....... .

  can you feel it, it seems to be everywhere, what many people are feeling today is the desire for change, many are simply overwhelmed with the pressures of everyday life....... .
