I think the Devil might be modeling on the Archbishop of Canterbury, check it:

i thought this would be easier to examine if written down:.
god's kingdom will soon come.
so we know that god's kingdom will soon come.. .
can there be contemporaries of contemporaries?
There can be anything the society wants. It's their game and they can change the rules whenever they want to.

god's kingdom will soon come.
so we know that god's kingdom will soon come.. .
Overlapping generation doctrine is absolutely crazy. It can be briefly summed up as;
'when Jesus said "this generation will be no means pass away", what he actually meant was "do some maths using your own interpretation of Daniel , pick a year using the pyramid of Giza and count backward. Then apply the Daniel maths and count forward. In the year you end up with I'll return invisibly, and rapture the anointed, but only those who are dead already. The lives of the alive anointed in 1914 will overlap with other anointed until Armageddon comes, at which point I may or may not rapture the remaing anointed. I may wait until they die naturally in or just after the great tribulation and Armageddon."'

Donny
Up until around 1943 they were in the belief that Jesus returned in 1874. How could they discern his presence in 1914 when he had already been around for 40 years?
LOL, good point.
this question has been bugging me for a while now .
since the last thread on the biblical flood.. it's like this .
.. immediately prior to the flood, jehovah had deemed the earth full of badness, totally wicked and "ruined" .
I know that the society's idea is enough time had to elapse to prove that mankind was not able to govern on their own without God's input.
I've never seen that idea in the Bible though.
Even if you accept that idea, there's so many contradictions since if you believe the Bible, God never stops intervening.
Adam & Eve disobey & God says "you're on your own, see if you can do better"
God then springs into leaving them alone by kicking them out of the Garden of Eden, giving them a death sentence, cursing the ground and making childbirth more painful.
God further leaves them alone by letting his rebelious angelic sons prey upon them.
Continues leaving them alone by killing 99.9% of them in a global flood.
Ignors them completely by confusing their languages at Babel.
etc etc etc.
Job proved imperfect people could be faithful to God. Jesus proved perfect people could be faithful. What is the point of allowing another 2000 years of death & pain if the 'issue' has already been solved?
There are so many holes in JW theology, as a born in I'm ashamed of not seeing them earlier.
i remember an alternative song released in the 1980's.. .
nothing has changed since then for the better, only for the worse.
will humanity bring the world to a permanent end if divine intervention wasn't a factor to take into consideration?
An example of double-think.
The world is now worse than it ever has been. AND things are getting worse, in fact things are so bad that "it" is proof we're in the last days / end times.
Meanwhile back in reality, people are living longer and the 'issues' of the day are how can we make things better for the majority of people i.e. environmentally, socially - healthcare etc. Murder rates have fallen substantially from the 60s/70s. More people than ever are getting a college education.
As a single woman there is no time in history in which I would prefer to live:
I can vote.
I have recieved a fairly good state funded education.
I'm in the UK so I have access to adequate heathcare - for which I am grateful.
I can work to support myself - I don't have to get married and be dependent on someone else.
Racism, sexism and homophobic bigotry are gradually being eliminated.
Religion is slowly losing its political influence.
Of course there are problems in society - but there always have been and there always will be.
this weekend watchtower study at the kh had included a picture on page 31 (watchtower march 15).. on the picture a sister is speaking / testify at a court.. at the wall of the court chamber, there are 2 pictures of imaginal political leaders.. am i wrong, do i see a joke of the wts graphic department?
because they are very similar to 2 governing body members.. fun ?!
?.
Meh, someone in Bethel has a thing about sisters having to wear heels / dress shoes. Going out preaching wearing even 2 inch heels is a quick way to sore feet & back pain.

new york) -- harold camping is "mystified" and "a little bewildered" that the rapture did not go as he predicted, an associate of the california preacher told abc news.. .
tom evans, a board member of camping's family radio international, said that camping's wife told him her husband is at their home in oakland and has no intention to speak or issue any statement on sunday or monday.. .
Let's come up with some excuses reasons Camping could give his church.
It did happen, but it was invisible. The elect were sealed on May 21st and will be raptured any time now.
God is still using the Julian calendar.
It did happen, but no one was good enough to be taken.
God has given us a forty year tarrying time to convert more people.

prove yourself ready!.
need to be ready.
The Watchtower says:
He plants murderous attitudes in the hearts and minds of people. For example, 1 out of every 142 children born in the United States will become a murder victim.
The actual source says
...from 1965 to 1992, the homicide rate for the U.S. was 9 per 100,000 people. The first-world democracy with the next highest rate is Canada, with only a quarter of the homicides per capita as the United States. Australia ranks third, with only a fifth of the U.S. number. If the murder rate in the United States continues, 1 out of every 142 children born today will be murdered. Even if the lower rate of 6 per 100,000 that the United States experienced during the 1990’s continues, nearly 1 out of every 200 newborns will eventually be murdered.
http://www.earlyamericancrime.com/reviews/american-homicide
The murder rate in the USA has substantially dropped since that cherry picked high range. The murder rate in the USA is now 5 per 100,000 per year. If the current rate continues then one person in 266 will be murdered if you take an average lifespan of 75 years.
This means that if you are born in the USA you have a 99.62% chance of NOT being murdered.
Well it wouldnt be the watchtower if it wasnt time to panic.
