Feeling disloyal
by stirred but not shaken ini've been visiting here for about a year or so, but didn't really feel compelled to participate other than reading the various posts that interested me.. there's been that uncomfortable feeling of being disloyal to god, the organization, many friends and relatives.. i've been associated since birth.
after 65 + years of service within this organization and actually enjoying that time, it troubled me to find myself wanting to express feelings that were contrary to all that time of "faithfulness".
those years were filled with progressive "privileges and responsibilities" even at a high level, and there was considerable success in our evangelizing activity.

So Spill the Beans, Brothers: Were There More or Fewer At this Year's Bore-Fest
by steve2 inthe jw date-worshipped memorial has just completed its bleak worldwide commemoration.
that wasn't a dust cloud you saw; it was a millionfold hearts limply beating themselves into another round of great tribulation expectations.
i was knocked into a deep, deep sleep by the imagined experience of being at several thousand consecutive kingdom halls as the platformed drones spat forth the predictable sludge that, once released, hits and stains white clothing and bleach is useless.. we know that memorial attendance worldwide has dipped for two consecutive years since 2011 when it reached a high of 19,374,737 and for the promised land, obama's usa, the all time memorial attendance high was also 2011 when it hit over 2.5million (2,563,518) but shrunk in shame back to 2,502,055 in 2012 and spluttered upwards a handful or two to 2,504,114 last year.. so, what was attendance at the date-obsessed bore-fest this year in your neck of the woods?

Maybe my local congregation bucked the increase trend. Last year they had 218, this year they had 183. I think the fact it was monday night might have had something to do with it.

If this is true, surely it makes the possibility of a rogue CO more likely?
You remove a layer of management, it makes micro managing that much harder!

ALL JW's to be at the meeting this week...
by Newly Enlightened in.
we asked this person if it could be aqbout the terminology change and they said that was already read last week...... we remember the last time they did this.
got everyone all excited thinking the big "a" was coming and all it was about, was the literature would now be donated instead of charging for it.. .

It will probably be the super secret special campaign for memorial season.

I love the bablefish translation "The Y ahwist Executive..."
But ok, tight pants are a no-no and ostracising family is a yes yes.
I guess Tony Morris's priorities are clear.

Inaccurate hours recorded
by snare&racket inignoring the fact that all but the super jw's had a random stab at hours done in the ministry, with all the different activities the society said counted as ministry hours, just how accurate is there annual report?.
what activities do you know of that were allowed to be counted as ministry time?
here are some i knew of.... .

Don't forget you could get a 'concession' if you were a pioneer learning a foreign language for a time.
If you're an elder you can count time giving public talks
I'm sure 'family worship night' is counted whether or not it happens.

2013 Report - difference in av. pubs compared to % of baptisms
by likeabird ini just took the first page of the 2013 report and added two new columns to look at alternative ways of calculating the 'increase'.
first column: 2013 av.
pubs minus 2012 av.

I'd love to see the number of total baptisms in the past 100 years minus death rate, and compare it to the figure of current active publishers.
I wonder how many 'missing' there would be? Over a million?

Looks like a standard politician claiming to be 'a man of the people' during campaign time.
China isn't a democracy so their leaders don't need to publically campaign. Do you think they may make a small step towards democracy?

"congregations are interested in caring for the needs of exemplary older brothers and sisters"
Just like Jesus said "by this they will know you are my disciples if you only look after people if they meet some arbitrary standard set by a publishing company"
