If the murder rate in the United States continues, 1 out of every 142 children born today will be murdered. Even if the lower rate of 6 per 100,000 that the United States experienced during the 1990’s continues, nearly 1 out of every 200 newborns will eventually be murdered.

  The murder rate in the USA has substantially dropped since that cherry picked high range. The murder rate in the USA is now 5 per 100,000 per year. If the current rate continues then one person in 266 will be murdered if you take an average lifespan of 75 years.

  This means that if you are born in the USA you have a 99.62% chance of NOT being murdered.

  Well it wouldnt be the watchtower if it wasnt time to panic.

  a jw will always rationalize the errors of wt leaders by arguing that they are simply imperfect men, who have never claimed to be spirit-directed.

  let's assume, for argument's sake, that that's true, that they've never made such claims.

  the question then becomes, "why aren't they?"..

  Probably a bit too soon for a new Daniel book, & we had the 144,000 cut and paste corrections to the revelation book already.

  " at the bottom of the image on the back of the invitation raises some eyebrows, but last night in the routine district convention article during the service meeting, i caught that one of the paragraphs mentioned that we would be encouraged to keep a copy of the tract in hand for a discussion during sunday's last talk.

  this is a real puzzler.. for christendom at large there is no problem in thinking of humans as a body (tent) which houses the soul.. for jehovah's witnesses the human is the tent.

  no soul is contained.

  (they make "soul" the same as body.).

  They believe a non personal life force actuates the body. I also love the knots they get in if you ask about how the word of god is so sharp it can divide soul and spirit...

  If I was a bored Watchtower writer I'd try to get happifying in an article every month. I'd also try to get "it is reasonable to assume" and "evidently" in as well - oops look like they already do...

  Jesus spoke on the mount of olives, evidently olives are a healthy snack food endorsed by the Christ for Christians.

  this seems like a literary device by a later author added to the story of jesus.. matthew 27:19: while pilate was sitting in the judgment hall, his wife sent him a message: "have nothing to do with that innocent man, because in a dream last night, i suffered much on account of him.".

  how would any apostle or follower of jesus know the contents of a private letter written to pontius pilate by his wife?.

  how many followers of jesus were in the same room with jesus and pilate?

  PublishingCult you have more patience than I do. Sam Whiskey/Fred Phelps/Aubrey's 'argument' descends to the "I know you are but what am I" type. And that is when he is at his most coherent.

  A few middle eastern tribesmen from 2000 years ago wrote what they thought their God might think about sexual conduct. Why on earth is this relevent today.

  Shesh. The poor guy in the opening post is a victim of entrapment.
