The December 15, 2008 Watchtower on page 28 states:
“Our coming to know “the truth” – the entire body of Christian teachings that has become part of the Bible – and adhering to it are essential for salvation.”
Before you jump to the Watchtower's defense and claim that's not what they meant, consider the following.
“The truth” when stated by a JW refers to all the teachings and doctrines of the Watchtower Society. Of course, the Watchtower Society instructions to Jehovah’s Witnesses include the notion that their teachings encompass “the entire body of Christian teachings”.
In the OP the "WT 1986 4/1 Questions from Readers" is quoted:
▪ Why have Jehovah’s Witnesses disfellowshipped (excommunicated) for apostasy some who still profess belief in God, the Bible, and Jesus Christ?

How can you claim that the so called FDS don't place their unique teachings from the Watchtower publications, on par with the bible? Or that they don't infer it at the very least? Yet the FDS as "God's only channel of communication" claim to be uninspired..... Hmmm. Which brings up another question. How can "God's only channel of communication" be uninspired? How can you trust what they publish in that case? Communication implies a dialogue, between at least 2 parties right? How do they communicate with Jehovah? Why do they keep getting it wrong, are they not listening?

You are on an ex-jw website so I think it's safe to say that most here don't hold to that view. But yes jw's do hold to that belief. Here's a thread that go's into that subject pretty in depth.
i don't know what to make of this.
i assume this is a real lecture given in cyprus, apparently recently (original jw email dated dec. 1st).

I don't post here a lot (mostly lurk) but have been a member since 2009. I saw this title and it made me think of a thread from a few years prior where outlaw was responding to the resident JW apologist. I was in the process of making my exit from JW land and it had me cracking up.

My mother might be, she sends me a text on my b-day (coincidentally, not to wish me a happy b-day but to say something spiritual dub-wise) with the token "I wish you would come back to Jehovah". Probably counts the time it took to send the text on her time card
I don't think anyone else would care either way. Who knows, maybe I'd get some love bombing for a bit and the encouraging "aren't you glad you came back to Jehovah" comments. Honestly I didn't think an "apostate" could come back having been baptized and then later self DA'd to follow Christ. They would think I'm full of the Debil. They know I've been to other churches. I don't think I could stomach 5 minutes in a KH anyway.
As a side point: I've kinda thought it would be fun to go to a kingdom hall for the express purpose of doing some worshipping (church style...hands in the air and all) during the songs and shouting hallelujah during the talk just to see the reaction I get. Haha....I'd for sure be shown to the door.
Anyway, as it stands right now when I've seen my mother on the 2 or 3 occasions I've been tolerated to be in her presence in the last 4 years, she will barely give me a hug.....I get the hesitation and stand offishness and the bug eyes, like she's afraid a demon is going to jump off of me and onto her. I'm sure most would react in similar fasion. I remember the scary feelings I got whenever I heard of anyone being labelled "apostate" while I was still indoctrinated so I get it.
