OMG! I believe the governing body's hearts are so wicked, that they try to find wicked in everything. My daughter's bedroom is nothing but hello kitty, and it's nothing but a harmless cute animal figure, that girls think are cute and girlie!!! Wow, this just blows my mind, although it shouldn't, considering i was told by my aunt when i was a small child that smurfs were demonic????

After the Smurfs ... JWs paranoia hits again
by behemot ini read on an ex-jws italian forum that in certain congregations witnesses are getting rid of their hello kitty toys.
the reason?
well, it's because the hello kitty is mouthless ... and that's how the "story" (the metropolitan legend) goes: .

Birthdays and my six year old
by Rocky_Girl ini am divorced from a jw and we have two children.
i have been out for 10 years but we both were raised 'in.
' we share custody so the little ones are a little confused as to why mommy gives them a b-day party, has a christmas tree and takes them to an hour of church mostly spent singing but daddy just drags them to 5 hours of lecture a week and won't let them be friends with the neighbor kids.. sunday night, after a week with his father, my six year old told me that he can't celebrate his b-day because a guy got his head cut off in the bible at a b-day party.

Love the reply, very weird though, becuase I used the same reply over the weekend while discussing how jw's pick to celebrate a wedding anniversary but they can't celebrate the birth of their child, nor the birth of Jesus! If not for the birth of either of those people I wouldn't be who I am!

Watchtower policy on child abuse...link to watchtower.org
by digderidoo inthis is terrible.
i stumbled across it whilst searching watchtower.org for their 'new light' on the faithful and discreet slave.. it seems to be instructions from 1995 as to how to deal with an accusation of child abuse, i have bolded the parts i found sickening.
when the samaritan came along, his heart went out to the wounded man.

I really dont' know enough about represses memories, to offer a good argument. Nonetheless, how dare these elders suggest that you write your offender a letter, or if they don't get a confession from the offender, then they would make the accusser and the offender come in at the same time and get to the bottom of it! You do not put someone whom has been physically, sexually or mentally abused by someone in the same room. Do they not understand, that offenders are controlling minupulators, and that their victim is scared of them! This is outrageous, and how I wish there was something legally we could do to these elders, and the governing body!!!!!!

Is the Kingdom Hall a good place for ugly guys to get pretty girls?
by donny inabout two weeks ago i was having lunch at an establishment that has tables set up on the outside (actually a sidewalk) and as i was waiting for my order, i overheard two guys talking at the next table.
a homely guy who had a pretty girl on his arm brought this response.
"wow man, look at that!

What finally pushed you over the edge?
by keyser soze inwas there one issue or incident, final straw, so-to-speak, that made you leave once and for all?
i know there was for me.. i had been having doubts for years, and had stopped believing it was the truth.
but i labored on as a jw, in part because of my family, and in part because i had invested so much of myself in it.

During a bible study, I told the sister I was studying w/that I planned on putting my daughter in gymnastics to see if she liked it. My daughter has a gift in this area, and I knew she would do well. I"m also a health and fitness oriented type of person, so I do attend the gym at least three to four times a week. The sister made the comment that Satan would always put the gym in front of me to take time away from Jehovah, and that Angelia's gymnastics would take even more time away from Jehovah. When she said that to me, something inside of me wanted to scream and I haven't had a bible study nor been back to the KH since. I don't believe God created me to just work at some job until armagedon arrives, and to sit by and watch my daughter waste a talent, that there is no doubt God gave her this talent! I'm so grateful to have found this site, and to have support from so many others!!!

What I do know is that there is peace to be found and there love to be had, after the organisation
by LIftsong inmy mother became a jw when i was six months old so i was brought up within the confines of the organisation.
i left properly in my early twenties and i am now 43 so a good 22 years of life, post being a witness have i travelled and documented thus far.
mine was a typical experience of a child in the congregation and i was busy doing my best to be a little adult as the child within slowly fell asleep.

Wow Liftsong, that was a very touching story. I was raised in a JW home for the most part, because my mom would go back and forth while raising four children. I never got baptized, because I didn't agree w/their teachings on blood, and among other things. I was baptized in September of 2009 as a christain, and it feels good to have that peace w/God! My family on my mom and dads side are JWs, so they don't have much to do with me. When I see a witness, they are polite and say hello, and look at me like i'm a poor lost soul. My mom informed me, that we could never have a good relationship because I turned away from the truth. God blessed me with a wonderful daughter, and husband whom have supported me from the beginning on my journey, of seeing the truth about this religon. I hope that all of us on this website, can support those whom have left the organization, or whom just need support!

I was referring to the end of the time, that the JWs use in trying to determine when armagedon will come. I thought that was the end you were referring to?

The People Up There vs. The People Down Here
by Confession indo you ever detect a difference in the way people make evaluations of an organization, as compared to an individual?
how about a difference between the way people judge one who holds an office of some sort, compared to one who doesn't?.
it seems to me that many people have a different set of standards for, say, "the people up there" as opposed to "the people down here.".

If abuse is reported to anyone, they should go to the authorities. No organization has the right to investigate and determine what they feel should be done. Detectives, child abuse agencies and prosecutors are trained how to find out the truth. If someone makes up a wild accusation, that's up to authorities to conclude, not a religion that believes they are so righteous, and they are the only ones that God shows favor upon or listens to!

$6,600 Expenses For a One-Day Assembly At a Fully-Paid-Up Hall? WTF!
by Room 215 inthe wife just got back from a one-day special circuit meeting (or whatever they call it) at the regional assembly hall.
it's got a capacity of about 1,200, fully paid for, staffed by volunteers and in use for less than eight hours.
then the guy making the announcement tells the crowd that the one-day expenses for the gig was about $6,600 (?!!!)...

What else does this organization have to do in order for people to see their corruption????
