The part of elders spying has been common practice for a while. My online activities were watched before I was disfellowshipped. The elders even were adding print outs to my congregation record. I worked with an elder once who spent time looking through dating websites to catch JW's on the prowl.
However the idea of the JW getting Facebook and YouTube (Google) to change their policy is ridiculous JW fantasy. It's as laughable as the other rumor that a Pixar animator praised the Caleb & Sophia cartoons. Facebook is not going to change policy and their website to serve the whims of a fringe religion looking to crack down on discontent.

2014 AGM announcement rumour
by yadda yadda 2 infrom barbara anderson, former watchtower headquarters researcher and writer, on another recent thread:.
it is expected that at the 2014 annual meeting, usually held the first saturday in october, will serve watchtower leaders well to cover-up all the 100-years of prophetic nonsense.
rumor has it they are going to celebrate their 100-years of announcing the kingdom in an adroit way by featuring a move of "great" significance to do with the expansion of the governing body to an "apostolic" 12 or some other fantasy idea.. .

My speculation is that future Governing Body members will be appointed/annointed by a figurative "laying on of hands" by the Faithful & Discreet Slave. They will no longer rely on brothers deciding that they are anointed. The GB will insert themselves into the picture and directly anoint brothers for this position of service. This will give them a broader pool of sychophants to draw from.

Fudging the Numbers: Is the WTBTS in decline?
by Coded Logic init's no secret that the wtbts has a cash flow problem.
over the past three years they have closed 20 of their 116 branches.
they have sold off most of their properties in and around ny (including some kingdom halls), drastically reduced the # of printed pages for the watchtower and awake magazines, reduced the printing of books and other materials, increased the number of single page tract campagnes, installed cc machines at their assembly halls, and are now seizing of controll of property assets from local kingdom halls using renovation projects.

Baptism numbers are largely irrevelant. Watchtower growth is tracked according to active PUBLISHERS, baptized or not. Why does this matter? Practically every child born in a JW household will at some point become a publisher, contributing to the overall growth rate. That doesn't mean however that they'll in to be baptized, or won't be disfellowshipped in the later teens/early adulthood.

The Books That Redefined C.T. Russell's Beliefs
by Maat13 inaccording to wt history, as a youth/young man, ct russell was unsatisfied with a number of explanations he was taught about the bible.
as a result he went on a quest to 'study' the bible himself.
ultimately this led to an organization that now requires its members to read bible aids to help them understand the bible.

Storrs is key because if was through his publication the Bible Examiner that Russell got some key beliefs. Grew was published by Storrs. This may be how Russell adopted his views on hellfire and atonement. The Examiner also published articles by Piazzi Smyth on the Pyramids, which probably contributed to Russell's interest in them.

What Happened to the Religion I Left in 1995?
by JoshJeffries injosh here, new to the board.
glad to know this site is here.. i would not be writing this if it were not 2014. i was a ministerial servant and regular pioneer who left the jehovahs witnesses back in 1995/96, around that time.
i left suddenly, didnt fade away, just left when something clicked one day in my head during the morning shower and made me realize this religion wasnt true.

Why The Watchtower Must Abolish Judicial Committees
by metatron insome years ago, i upset some crypto-watchtower apologists by stating that the organization must eventually either abolish the co arrangement or radically change it because it creates a direct chain of liability by chain of command and makes them a hierarchy (without catholic level assets or influence to support such a structure).. i would make a similar argument with regard to judicial committees.
i do not contend that the watchtower would get rid of these repellent anachronisms simply because they are unethical in form and use but rather that they represent an increasing liability/obstacle to the organization's survival.. why?.
1) such committees tend to open up all sorts of legal challenges and dangers.

In Europe there this push to abolish religious courts such as the Islamic Sharia system. I can't remember which nation it was recently (Iceland?) where a politician was looking at the JW's judicial committees. If this continues it may lead to changes similiar to how problems in Bulgaria lead to the introduction the new "disassociated by actions" rule.

" Among Circuit Overseers, there are 68 full faith sons, 16 of which became new partakers this year. 17 have stepped down from their positions of oversight, but also remain in association with a congregation. Among Elders, we do not have the number of full faith sons, but it is in the hundreds. However, we do know that 133 Elders have stepped down. Also 181 Pioneers have stepped down and become full faith sons, of which 21 have also stepped away from the organization. Among Regional and Branch Overseers, 17 are full faith partakers, 14 have stepped down. Among Missionaries, we are aware of 4 full faith partakers who have stepped down and returned home. "
My issue with this is how anyone can simply "step down" over doubts and not get DF'd for it, especially if they are publicly partaking.IF this is true, then it speaks to some kind of underground community of closet apostates, not unlike the 1980's.
When I got DF'd the CO was on a witch hunt for some fringe group called the "new anointed". Because I started partaking they suspected that I was involved in it.
The GB appears to have an ongoing war against the anointed. Recent changes to the doctrine of the FDS exemplify this. I saw it more as a consolidation of their own power rather then a response to any real threat.
A big issues I have with these reformers is they tend to cling to this erroneus notion that JW.ORG are special in God's plan or Bible prophecy. I get the attractiveness of the concept. It makes all the time spent in JW.ORG not such a waste of time. It can give the reformers a sense of purpose if they feel they are the only true members of the true religion. -

I believe the short-game is a smaller, but more loyal, religion. I don't know what the end-game is but I've got a real bad feeling.
I shared some thoughts about this a few weeks back.
