I think one of the attractions for field service had to do with the car group yacking and talking about different things, the break at micky d's and then go home or back out for some more wasted time.

Just came back from the two-day Assembly at the Yuba Assembly Hall.
by Chemical Emotions insurprisingly, i have little to say about.
nothing really stood out to me, unlike the convention.
it was all the same.. did anyone else get that feeling?

Gossip was one thing that got my wife in a depressed mode, she couldn't believe how some were talked about when they weren't part of the car group. She told me the gossip would flow, that is one of the reasons she was so depressed.
In one congregation I had attended it surely was the elder's wives that were paramount in spreading gossip and information about others that should have only been between the elder and whom ever he was talking with. It wouldn't be in no time that all the dirty little details would be spread around the congregation. Love among themselves had to only mean love for gossip and dirty little secrets to talk about others.

seem the delusional talk by this person goes to show just how out of touch with reality they really are. And Yes it seems that there is always a lot of talk about love in the congregation and me wonders just how many in congregations have secret hopes that others they don't like will be killed in the great trib?
They are all just a bunch of whack jobs.

Marry Only in the Lord
by compound complex inmisgivings, to be sure, .
another pursued her .
with real intent, a burning zeal.

Paul had just possibly tried to get widows to marry in the Lord, so as to not marry people of "pagan" religions, there were Jewish women who may have still be Jews in their belief structure for worshiping God, and of course there were Christian women. So to me it has always been just advice to marry in the Lord, afterall Paul didn't really specify just which Lord he was talking about. Yahweh or Jesus.

suppression of women islam and the wtbts
by ssn587 ini can't help but equating the suppression of women in middle east countries with how the watch tower suppress them.
no right to teach at the meetings, women told to hold husbands in high regard, but not women.
it pisses me off because their are many women more qualified than men that are put in positions of power.

That is one reason I have told my daughter that i don't want her to be anypart of the cult of JWs.

Beards and Overstepping the Commandment of God
by Darth Rutherford inwhy is it you also overstep the commandment of god because of your tradition?
like the pharisees, the watchtower is overstepping the commandment of god because of tradition.
(psalm 118:9; 146:3) yet, where does jehovah, through his word, command a christian not to grow a beard at all?

I have been wearing a goatee for about 1 1/2 years now. Only got stramge looks at first, I ignored all of them, had several comments about it and said my grooming is my business and not yours so butt out. that seemed to take care of the comments, except at assemblies and district whooplahs, told them to to butt out, and did ask several what is your problem? I don't and didn't take shit off of anyone on the goatee, it is my business and not theirs.

Things that made you cringe at "the meetings"
by i_drank_the_wine ini always cringed so hard when a "brother" or "sister" would make some overly heartfelt comment about jehovah-something, usually related to a personal experience of theirs, and get all teared up and/or start crying.. once this fringe dude that's been df'd twice now was giving a talk and kept having these long awkward pauses where he looked like he was real stressed out, then he would start up again, stutter, slip up, and repeat the process until he looked down and went "i, i just can't do this" and walked off the stage and left the hall.. it also made my spchincter pucker when a young person would give some super devotional comment on how much they love big j and whatnot, which would make the congregation all smile in their hearts and wag their heads in approval..

There was one sister in the congregation that i used to attend, that always answered then mentioned something else to follow later in the study. like who gave a crap. she always did that and i found it to be very annoying.

Cleaning Day
by N.drew ineach kingdom hall of jehovah's witnesses have cleaning days, where families gather to clean the hall.
three cleaning days a year, spirng, fall and before the memorial offers a pediophile time alone with the children.
it takes only one assault against a child to make it a crime.

Cleaning the hall was something presented as a privilege for the rank and file, I quite participating in it sometime ago, at least a couple of years ago, I saw no privilege in it, was something that they were bringing up in announcements and added to sometalks as if i were a commandment frm God. What a bunch of BS.

The WTBTS policy there will be no gatherings and get togethers for fun, soicialization etc. until moral improves, and then only if an elder is present when the morale improves.
