by Harvard Illiterate 411 inthere was/is a sister in my old hall who was a pharmaceutical sales rep and she was a huge proponent of anything in the drug industry.
when someone had a headache, she was the first to say "take an asprin.

Why the Deficit at the Circuit Assembly?
by JT-LadyC inhave you ever wondered why there is always a deficit at the circuit assembly?
did you realize that before the program begins, the circuit is already in the red?
many of the friends thought they were paying for the use of the building and covering the costs of the utilities, etc.

I had asked that very question about the eternal defecit from an elder at those meetings. He tried to say it wasnt my concern and I told him yes it is I want to make sure the money donated (actually by my wife) was going to care of the hall and why are they donating money to the society without covering expenses first? Then I said anyone donating money prior to paying the bills is an idiot himself included. Of course later, several weeks later, was invited to the back room told them I have nothing to say to any of them. He or they didnt like it but they never followed up. -

Good idea or bad idea?
by stephanie61092 infirst and foremost, thank you so much to so many of you who have reached out to me over the past few days since my post on sunday.
i'm not totally in the best mental state, however, i do have a very small amount of people that i can lean on for support.
i relayed my feelings to a friend (my only friend, really), who took the initiative to inform my family.

If your filled with so much anxiety being at the hall, then why go there is it really worth it? How is you anxiety level when your not at the hall, does it dramatically go down then that in an of itself shows you being there is unhealthy. -

Do You Remember The First Time You Looked At "Apostate" Material?
by minimus ini was always fascinated by it.
as a kid, i used to go to the local library and secretly read books by so called apostates.
later, i would sneak into christian book stores and quickly buy a book or two.

It was reading through encyclopedias that started the awakening process. -

Stepping out of the shadows
by contramundum ini have been lurking on the site for a few months and thought it about time i plucked up the courage to step out of the shadows and say hello.. i am in the process of fading after realizing all is not right with the organization i had trusted implicitly for over 40 years.
there have always been 'truths' i have struggled to accept entirely, even as a child, but was confident that trusting in jehovah, building my faith and remaining patient would be enough to settle any nagging doubts that remained, so i pushed any inconsistencies to the back of my mind and concentrated on being the best witness that i could be.. over the last few years, however, i have been preoccupied with a number of crises in my family and stepping back slightly from 'theocratic' activity has allowed me to re evaluate a number of concerns and research sources other than the sanitized wt publications.. my eyes are now wide open - i found things which have appalled me and left me feeling extremely let down and disappointed by people i had really trusted.. i tried gently raising a few subjects with my mum (who was baptized early '70s and still remains a staunch wt supporter) but she will hear no criticism of the organization.
i understand this because the best part of her life has been invested in the religion and to acknowledge it may have got things wrong would be to recognize the last 40 years have been a vain waste.

SW my thought is just who your husband is local to, you and family or the crazies at the hall? He says he would have to turn you in, that shows whom he would be more loyal and it seemingly is the apostate governing dictators. Those supposed friends at the hall would not be your friends if you aren't attending, may take awhile but eventually it will happen, then you will find out true friend in the Borg as they won't abandon you.
Is your husband so enamored with being an elder that it's more important to him than family?
