shifting the burden is a pass time of my spouse also, can't ask a question w/o it being implied that if only I would study more, WT Pubs, and attend meetings that i would be enlightened. told the spouse that doing those things is what awokened me to the nonsense perpetuated by te WTBTS. Amd if real reasoning and critical thinking were employed that many many more would leave the mentally enclosed corrall of the WTBTS.

Appears to be another case of "shifting the burden."
by garyneal inmy wife and i was talking about one of the talks that they had concerning marriage and how each spouse is suppose to put the other spouse first and that as long as both spouses did this, it would work out for the greater good of the marriage.. i agreed but added a point in that sometimes, either because of human frailties on the part of your spouse or some other reason, you spouse may not be fulfilling all your needs and sometimes you will just need to take care of your own needs.
i tried to emphasize that this did not mean placing your needs ahead of the marriage or family or even your spouses, but simply sometimes we need to take care of our own needs and not always expect the spouse to do it for us.. she did not like the 'tone' and 'attitude' of my remark and when i brought up an example, it really set her off.. the example had to do with birthdays.
since my wife is a witness, obviously she will not be throwing me a party, at least don't expect her too.

Advice on introducing doubts to friend
by gutted ini am asking you for your opinion/advice on questions or ideas to introduce to my friend to make him start doubting the wbts.
no doubt when he sees my new goatee it will be a bit unnerving for him, maybe i could use this as a starting point.
perhaps you have things that have worked others?

How about suggesting to them that you all do research on just what the society was teaching prior to and duringt the 1914-1919 era, I'm sure that if the have half a brain they will be somewhat stunned over what they find.

Experience with housing convention delegates?
by teel ini'm not sure how much was this the custom in other countries, but here during the conventions local jws could offer their homes to those with special needs / who can't afford a hotel, etc.. many years ago as newly wedded couple we decided to offer our house.
we got assigned a middle-aged (around 45) italian guy, who was a bible-study.
fortunately he spoke some of our language, so we understood each other.

We offered ours at one time, and we had an older lady, she was very very nice and even stayed on with us for a month after the convention going out in service and was such a help around the house, cooked, ironed constantly cleaned, she was a pleasure to have, we had her back the following year and she had another sister with her from Oregon who happened to be in the area when the Dc was on, She too was a pleasure to have around, they wanted to do all the household chores but we said no, the children have their assigned jobs and we want them to still do it. They were excellent cooks and again both stayed for about 6 weeks after the Dc. We kept in touch with them, and still see the lady from oregon once in awhile.
Sou our experience was good with that arrangement.

Has anyone ever ask a householder to keep their Bible study secret from their spouse?
by wasblind ini was told of one incident, where a pioneer said that she had trouble with one householders husband, because he was hiding the literature and did not want his wife to study with the jw's so she incouraged the householder to study in secrecy.. .

I have never done that, but i have left notes (typed) in Watchtowers left at not at homes, telling them that after reading it to please go on line and check out "ALL" the informatin on Jdubs there before considering having any Bible discussions or studies with them. I only did this when working alone, which when was going out in service and not having a partner. Now i get the national average of most apostates, zero, zip, nada, the big nothing.

Non-profit law changes in New Zealand - anyone know what happened?
by 10p ini'm in aussie now - but i remember a little while ago the gov in nz changed the rules for non-profits.
i saw a programme on tv the other night that said the scientologists reported income dropped from multi-millions to about 300k after the change.. i wondered if anyone knew what happened to the watch tower society's reported income after the law change?.

We here in the U.S. definitely need our non-profit laws redone, cults like the WTBTS should be paying their fair share of taxes just like the rest of us. They have been nothing but parasites on the American Tax Payer. In fact, I believe all relgions should unless, there is verifiable proof of exceptional charity work for all in the community. And the WTBTS doesn't do charity work for the community in general and very selective charity work for dubs effected by Katrina like devastations.
I say tax em all, property, income and any other tax that can be foisted off on them. It's about time they quit being parasites and pay up like everyone else.

Did you really pay attention at conventions or assemblies?
by donny ina co-worker of mine whose family (2 daughters, wife) are jw's related a funny story yesterday.
his wife and daughters missed the friday portion of the convention last week in order to attend a wedding of a worldly relative.
at dinner she mentioned to him that she would go to the convention this friday to make up for the one she missed.. he then asked why and she said so she could get the information she missed.

I would take notes only for the reason to remember stuff to ask the elders about. like just where in the scriptures did it show that Timothy's dad wanted him to attend a higher learning school (or whatever they call it) instead of grabbing his scrolls and going door to door. That got to them real good, and the two I asked himmmed and hawwwed and couldn't answer. Well what about his friend who did go to school and then supposedly regretted it?
I then asked them why are they the society promoting falsehood and trying to pass it off as bible truth in the Dramas. They said i wasn't spiritual enough to understand, and i just laughed at them and told them they were being ridclous. You can't answer it because it is all made up, no truth in it which is really surprising because aren't Jehovah Witnesses supposed to be the religion of truth?

Are their d2d presentations good enough to convert?
by highdose ini remember asking a uber dub i was on the fs with " if you were the hh would you want to know more after listening to your presentation?
" she addmitted that no, she wouldn't have wanted to listen further.. so basicly the fs is really quite useless?
the jws doing it mostly have neither the skills nor interest to make a hh want to listen.

My brother has been married over 30 years, is drawing ssn disability, va disability and military retirement, he is wondering what his spouse my SIL would be entitled to if they were to get a divorce. Guess things aren't all that rosy for him and he has been very unhappy for a number of years. His wife doesn't want anything to do with us, doesn't like us and never has. When they visited (2 times) she was pushing him to leave before they had been here with us for even a day. So i want to find out for him. he lives in southeastern Texas. Anyone with any knowlledge on this issue please to let me know so that I can pass it own. He can't ask anyone, he has to email me, he is almost totally deaf and real handicappedand unable to ask for himself.
