  Good talk with mum and dad

  she's 77 and both mum and dad have been witnesses for nearly 30 years.

  they've been pretty hardline in their time but just recently things have changed.

  today, to my joy, mum wanted to celebrate her birthday so i bought her a big bunch of flowers and a box of chocolates (yeah i know, not very imaginative) and intend to take them out to lunch tomorrow when i've got more time.

  the story of a little old lady who loved god

  heard an interesting story today of a little old lady in her nineties.

  the poor old dear had been in hospitial very poorly for a few months but as soon as she was discharged, even though she was still very weak,.

  she told her daughter "i must go to church on sunday".

  some of you guys are wicked, its one thing to laugh at the story, but to tell everyone....

  your going straight to hell....

  i suppose i can see the slap stick in it, poor old sod.

  of course the story in my opinion begs the question is there a god?

  simply put without getting out the bible if god gives a shit about people, why does he let bad things happen to them.

  i never really understood why witnesses said "a house dosent make it self, or a watch"

  how can that possibly be compared to the universe and all that exsists within it

  i would love it if there was a god, but the facts say otherwise in my opinion

  she told her daughter "i must go to church on sunday"

  anyway her daughter drove her there in the car.

  when they arrived her daughter was helping her out of the passenger side and she fell and broke her hip.

  now apart from that being a very upseting story, please tell me how can there be a god?

  the gb can change what a generation means but eventually even the most blind jw will see that describing a 'generation' as something that exceeds the lifetimes of all those alive at the time is just silly..

  Does anyone out there understand how i feel?

  my name is tim, im 23, from the uk, and im currently a jw!.

  ok... to cut a long story short... i love serving jehovah but ive begun now to embrace my sexuality as a gay man.. although im still attending the meetings, praying to jehovah and trying my hardest, i can no longer lie to myself about my sexuality.. i have had enough of feeling depressed and confused now - its killing me!!!.

  does anyone else know what i feel like?

  i always remember the statement that did the rounds in england in the early 90's

  "if someone says your brain washed, tell them i need my brain washing in this world"

  If you could choose one book to suggest to a JW...

  i'm sure this isn't an uncommon question but i'll ask anyway.. suppose you had the chance to suggest one book, essay, article, or other writing with the goal of helping a loved one wake up... which one would it be?.

  bear in mind the goal is to subvert the programmed hair-trigger defenses that cause a complete shutdown of critical thinking.

  this automatically excludes anything that would directly place the wt society or its history in a negative light.

  I need a show of hands: who believes the Bible and to what extent?

  i'll start off.. i don't believe anything is divine about bible writings.

  i believe there may be some marginal history although not much.

  i think alot of folk tales and regional myths are contained in the old testament.

  a friend of mine x jw like myself, works as a window cleaner on a road where a family of active jws live.

  he watched a situation develop over a say a year were they started a bible study with a local neighbour and eventually he became a jw himself.. now this fella was a bit of a odd bod, looked odd, dressed odd, generally made people feel a little uncomfortable, but not a bad person lets use an often used phrase in england "an eccentric".. well of course he showed a little bit of interest, pherhaps he was lonely.

  well of course he was really fussed over by is local jw neighbours, bible study,.

  well of course he showed a little bit of interest, pherhaps he was lonely. well of course he was really fussed over by is local jw neighbours, bible study,. invited round for tea, taken to the meetings.

  even my friend x jw said "you really saw a change in him, he looked really normal" (whatever that is")

  of course once he was baptised the loving witnesses started to back off, they started to talk to him on there door step not inviting him in, then eventually they would talk to him through a closed window.

  then this week my friend turned up on the street to do his window round and the jws are moving out.

  so he approaches the so called "brother" and asks why he's moving out (he fell away not df)

  "oh we can't put up with being bothered all the time by the brother up the road, he's always coming round, he's got to find his own spiritual feet"

  my friend smiled to himself an thought "typical witnesess !!!"
