Just got a response to my flyer:WOO HOO!
by CaptainSchmideo injust as the year was coming to a close, i decided to start a business using my computer for something more than playing video games.. i just got a response from one of my flyers!
yes, i am excited now!
and scared too!

If he's got a bunch, do a few and get paid for a few, to be sure you both are satisifed with the quality and the price (make sure he can pay).
or have samples for him to see. those really spark interest. i always ask for 50% at project initiation and 50% upon delivery. i only accept funds in western union or paypal, so they are secure...

congratulations! last year i decided i wanted to freelance instead of write for a corporation, so i took the plunge. now i have three steady clients who each left in their ratings about me, and more new contacts on the way. i had doubts at first too, but i persisted and things have taken off
I hope this call pans out, he has a lot of tapes he wants done!
it will. and even if it doesn't, another one will. all it takes is one happy client, and you can build on that first success. brick by brick...

well, i never go by things like that. i luv a lot of this stuff but i wasn't around then... but if you were, that doesn't mean you're a fossil or something. i've seen people who were real fogeys at 20 and others who were really cool at 50, so it's all relative...
no, i haven't seen "anchorman". the last film i saw in a theatre was "the incredibles" which was pretty cute.

we'd go up to the high country every winter and play in the snow, carloads of people... in the summer we'd go to the mountains and make a campfire and have singalongs...one of the sisters was a really good guitar player, and we'd all accompany her, singing kingdom songs and even some folk songs. some of the kids would have house parties, where they would stand in line and play "pass the grapefruit". i was never allowed to go to those. but one night i spent the night at my girlfriend's house and we went to one of the parties where those kids were and we played it. i got a little thrill out of it, but prayed hard that night to Jehovah, full of repentance and guilt. sheesh.

How does one say *no*, politely, and still retain a relationship with a person? I don't want them to HATE me... I just want them to stop calling me and telling me their dramas.. because I have dramas of my own to work out..
just say no politely. i used to be a tremendous giver, to the point where, rather than showing appreciation and gratitude for my financial and moarl support, friends and relatives took advatnage of that and asked me for more. one day i finally decided enough was enough. i mean, if they are going to be mad at you and "hate" you the first time you say no to them, do you really want someone like that around? i'm much more selective now as to who i allow into my life, and heart. i deserve to be with people who treat me with the same love and respect that i give them. that's why i don't get too close to people either. when you do, you can be hurt, and well, that's a whole 'nother story. anyway, good luck...
