  Met a JW elder for the first time since leaving JW

  i left about 14 months back and stopped attending meetings cold turkey.

  so i haven't seen any jws for ages and for some reason i've never bumped into them at the mall or in town - and i guess that means they haven't seen me either or know what i'm up to.. i was at a cafe with a male friend today, we look like a typical couple that is we're the same age, shop together etc but its purely platonic.

  but you know how it is with jw .

  can my dad see what internet sites I have been to?

  im aware that all pages are saved in this special folder, but i just delete it every time i have been on this site.

  my question is, can my dad get a list from the internet company, that contains all the internet sites that have been visited for example the last month?

  some parental controls have the capability to send instant messages to the parents' email when the child enters an objectionable site. i would never use such tactics, because i think parents who spy on their children don't trust them or respect them. until you obtain your own computer and own account, you can't be 100% sure he can't monitor your internet useage. nothing is foolproof.

  "Replacement doctrines" - things which JWs lie about to the interested ones

  depending on the denomination of their interlocutor the witnesses often claim that their religion is free of a whole bunch of non-sensical doctrines which are so common in other religions.

  oftentimes, however, it proves that they have something that i'll call "replacement doctines" - beliefs which which are difficult to figure out for the 'interested ones', but which in the long run prove to be just as bad as the stuff they disclaimed or worse.

  example: in a catholic country like poland, jws often boast about the fact that they don't have the confession routine, where a person has his/her sins forgiven by a priest who acts as a representative of god.

  I'm sorry I encountered this room. I was looking for info on Google - on the tsunami - and found you all. Im a psychology major and couldn't help being awed by the atmosphere - couldn't help being appalled at the rage factor.

  how did Google lead you to JEHOVAH when you searched on TSUNAMI?

  You know - i bet jehovahs aren't wasting a fraction of their time obsessing about what you think of them. So why should you?

  are you kidding me? 'tis they who construct elaborate labyrinths of lies and cover-ups because they DO CARE, VERY MUCH, what the rest of the world thinks of them! you've got it backward - we could care less what they think of "us".

  I'll leave you all to your subject matter from now on - I can't stomach it - If I had known what this was all about I would have saved myself the heart-rending experience of witnessing this enormous stagnation of scorned self-pity.

  p.s. why do you assume we are bitter and rage-filled. you're the one sounding all upset...

  Guilty Fast Food Pleasures

  okay, what is the one fast food that you just love, but are a little ashamed to admit to?.

  a detective character (sue grafton's kinsey milhone) in some mysteries i read has these guilty fast food pleasures.

  just about every day she runs for miles on the beach, but then she is invariably ends up ducking into the mcdonald's drive thru with her little vw and scarfing a big mac or quarter pounder.

  The guy is a terrible actor. And he reminds me of a JW. After 5 years without ever taking acting lessons, Subway should fire him. They could get a new spokesperson that has some personality, like a cute oven mitt, sock puppet, or talking Chihuahua!

  you guys i need help...please bear with as this is a rather long post...i had to give you guys the history of this....there still might be things i'm leaving out, but i'll explain in the future..... my sister wants me to help her plan my parent's wedding anniversary party.

  they never celebrated it in the past because my dad is an idiot.

  my wife and i declined to assist because of the way they have treated us in the past and because of the preferential treatment given to my sister and my fathers 7 other children.

  do you want to buy a gift? if you do, do - if you don't, don't.

  do you want to go to the party? if you do...(see where i'm going with this?)

  the only way to be free from guilt, anger and hurt feelings is to confront the people who have wronged you and tell them so. if you can't do that, cut your losses and move on. at least you won't be agonizing over things you can't change.

  looking at the smurf thread i was wondering, in my congregation in the 80's there were also storys of demonic cabbage patch dolls attacking jw kids.

  i wasn't allowed to have one because they might be demonized.

  was it just my cong.

  this week in uk, there starts a new 6 week series to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the liberation of auschwitz.

  personally, i do not like cinema films about the holocaust and, therefore, have never watched things like shindler's list or the pianist.

  re: movies like Schindler's List and The Pianist: Schindler's List showed the people's personal effects being systematically taken from them, then neatly categorized and labeled, then the people were systematically categorized and tatooed, which drove home the point that they weren't even viewed as humans, but something to be processed and ulitmately, destroyed. then at the end, they had real survivors talking over the credits, and you can't avoid weeping. The Pianist portrayed how the Nazis used fear to take over whole towns and turn people against each other, and illustrated how the SS viewed them as something lower than insects. there was one scene where this young girl dared to ask a question and the guard just shot her in the face, with no warning or feeling, like she was just a fly to be swatted off a picnic table. she was that insignificant. whenever i see the planning of this massive extermination on something like the History Channel, it gives me the chills. i guess because they portray the engineers, commanders and every other facilitator discussing and planning just how to go about pulling off the mass slaughter of millions of people in such a clinical and impersonal way. yes, we need to know. and never forget.
