last nights paper had an article about the 9th circuit court upholding the lower court's dismissal of a claim brought by a disgrundled jw who quit the police acadamy because he was sure he wouldn't get through it due to his refusal to pledge allegience to the flag and uphold the us constitution.
essentially the lower court threw it out because of lack of merit and the circuit court agreed.
poor boy can't get that cushy job with a uniform and thumb his nose at america at the same time.. i'm sooo sad!.
well, why would he want to be a cop anyway? he'd have to use deadly force eventually, and they pride themselves on not going to wars because they don't believe in killing anyone. not to mention mingling with the most undesirable "riff-raff" like prostitutes, gangstas, etc. on a regular basis.

how true that is. when the wtc was going down, i called my jw sister (she was speaking to me then) to tell her what was happening. i was in shock, tears etc. and she said, and i quote" good! maybe they'll all kill each other." i said i would talk to her later and hung up the phone. in the meantime, she kept emailing me as she did every day, interspersing her messages with witnessing to me. she forwarded some emails to me from her FRIENDS AT BETHEL, in which they were forwarding "chain" mail to each other about "jehovah's time is at hand" and how "they deserved it", etc. but what was most damning was how her chatty bethel friend was saying that they did indeed lock the doors and one man somehow managed to wander in from the street "seeking sanctuary" and they quickly ushered him outside into that carnage and her comments in the email were "can you imagine one of them in here?" as if he were a leper or something. i kid you not.
anyway so i avoided her for three days and wouldn't answer her calls. finally she asked me what was wrong so i told her i thought her attitude was callous and inhumane, and two thousand people lost their lives. she back-pedaled and said how much the witnesses DO care, and how a few of them had been in the building (at the top and somehow they were magically spared) and wouldn't i like to enjoy jehovah's protection this way? if she had been in front of me i would hav smacked her a good one...

well folks: i had my first follow-up visit, and things are not as good as i was hoping.
essentially, using diet and exercise to try and reverse my clogged arteries is okay for 15 areas which are 50% or less clogged, by 2 of the points are 80% occluded ... and must be treated in a matter of months, or i face death inside a year ... so, i have some time, but not as i hoped.
the two bad occlusions art each at the intersections of main branches ... and either of them would likely kill me if they close up.. the doctor was impressed with my diet changes, lifestyle adjustments, and weight loss and level of recovery ... but the recovery is limited, in that i still have some strong angina with mild exercise, strongly suggesting my heart does not get enough blood when i exercise, and then when i eat a large meal, the stomach uses enough blood flow, that the heart gets starved and i go into serious angina ... soooo ... i am ordered to limit exercise and eat 6 to 8 tiny meals a day ... and i am even getting a handicap sign for my car ... yikes!

i ask this because many religious people i speak to seem traumatised by there x religious beliefs,there minds seem unbalanced not being able to deal with reality.they also tell me they have nightmares about things like end of the world,being at their old church,etc etc,are any of you on here going through things like this.they also seem confused in what do with there lives and in what directions to take.

sometimes when i think back about when i was a dub, i get a little embarrassed.
i remember telling my kids not to draw on watchtower mags (i also had to tell their mother) i was a grown man and would let nerd elders counsel me for dumb things, like saying the word luck, or bulletin board.
i remember getting to the end of the month and not having the cong average field service time and start to worry what the other elders and co would say.
whoa... that's one episode i hadn't seen. but it sounds perfect for them. they spend their whole lives doing two things: trying not to offend anyone, or not be offended by everyone and everything. how can they live that way? no wonder they're all mad... but you couldn't use the word "frack" though. they would probably think it sounds too dirty.
