Just imagine having to play the WTS songbook for 1000 years. Doomed, I tell you...completely doomed. You know that's all they'd let you play, Kingdom Songs.
I'd rather jab a knitting needle in my ear.

Having lived in Mormon Central for the last 20 years, I can only compare this to the "convenient" revelations the council of twelve that runs the LDS church has whenever they find that some of their 1830s religious writings (That were given to them straight from God himself via the angel Moroni and a white salamander in a cave or whatever that fairy tale is all about) that are full of racism and misogyny outright offend members enough that they start mumbling and leaving the church. They had one after civil rights said that if they didn't allow blacks equal status in their church, they could be sued for discrimination, so suddenly, it became okay for them to be in the priesthood when formerly it was forbidden.
They had a convenient one about dropping the insistence on polygamy to please God after the United States Army came in and held them siege too. Handy, that. They called them "revelations given at the appointed time" and such...sounds a little familiar. I've always found these subtle similarities between Mormons and JWs, although they hate each other pretty much.
But, the Mormons just have a "revelation' and change something and everyone settles down for a while. No different than "the light gets brighter and brighter" BS the WTS throws out there occasionally when they get caught in an oopsy and have to make a quick shuffle, ball step change foot tap dance.
A skunk by any other name smells just as putrid.

It does kind of point out that all the little technological goodies JWs now have and are used to won't be there...but I don't know how all those pretty mansions are going to be built either without sewer systems and sewage treatment, electrical plants and lumber mills, and as someone pointed out...even glass windows wouldn't be too likely.
Maybe some crude log cabins and sod houses for the NS, right? Gee, that last message sounds like the NS is going to be run by a bunch of middle management douche bags, so what's the diff between that and the crummy job I have now?
That's what's hilarious, they think the whole world is going to get run like Bethel and Patterson is run now. Do they really believe that you can do that without being part of the modern world?

WOW!!! Just found out from someone who went to the one day assembly....
by Lady Liberty inhello friends... just found out that at the recent one day assembly they are now really discouraging people from getting married!!!!!
they will lose young ones like crazy if they start telling them that they cannot get married...what are these sexually frusterated young people to do??
you cannot masterbate, you cannot have sex outside of marriage (not that i would encourage it either, but...), now you cannot even get married?????

Yeah, but that goes along with no sex of any kind. Priests get more action than a JW single pioneer.

Putting the 'probability argument' against abiogenesis in the grave once and for all
by bohm inamongst the many arguments for and against creation the probability arguments stands out.
the improbability of generating the necessary proteins by chanceor the genetic information to produce themto balloon beyond comprehension.
... the odds of getting even one functional protein of modest length (150 amino acids) by chance from a prebioitc soup is no better than 1 chance in 10164. meyer continues, another way to say that is the probability of finding a functional protein by chance alone is a trillion, trillion, trillion, trillion, trillion, trillion, trillion, trillion times smaller than the odds of finding a single specific particle among all the particles in the universe.. the evidence for the probability of origin of life arising from darwins warm little pond seems to have vanished beyond the realm of any possibilityregardless of any early earth scenario.. i really, really want to put it in the grave because i think its an embaressment to the theists and thinking humans in general; its right up there with 'noahs ark has been found' and 'humans have less chromosomes than monkeys', but for some reason people dont see through it.

Paradox...believing that the whole universe hinges on whether you're your own grandpa or not. LOL
When you get right down to it, Yourself is the only universe any of us have ever experienced personally and it means NOTHING much. Captain Kirk used to kill alien computers with this kind of stuff..."Everything I say is true, but everything I'm telling you is a lie."
If you use yourself as a point of reference about yourself, it's meaningless as far as objectivity. This is why even psychologists go to psychologists, you can't analyze your own problems any more than you can do brain surgery on yourself, because no one is capable of complete objectivity about themselves and their beliefs, which are part of the ego structure.
We're very tied to our opinions and beliefs, they sustain us. They can be total CRAP as far as factually accurate, but they can still sustain us until they're so unsupportable that it all collapses at once like an empty balloon.
I hate to see that happen to people it's not pretty, but if you find out things you believe in are harmful to you and others, it's worth the blow to the ego.
I don't think belief in God is harmful in and of itself, just that a lot of harmful things have been done in the name of God. I doubt you can get rid of the belief that there's superhuman entities just because some abuse the notion, unless you can find someway that people can easily understand that TOTALLY disproves it, though.

Habakkuk would have thought football was a folk dance compared to the violence he was used to. LOL
Yes the WTS is pretty much the NO FUN ZONE.
The Puritans could have taken lessons from how to be a tight ass from them.

Getting into Arguments with JW's...
by ForbiddenFruit ini'm trying to fade away, but i sometimes find myself in discussions or arguments with jw family/friends/white haired virgin elders.
now, i usually have them beat on things but i'm not very experienced, so i was thinking if you guys could help me put together a list of completely unanswerable questions to pose to my jw friends/family/elders so they can stop bugging me.
if i keep asking them questions they simply cannot answer, then they might leave them alone.

I have a few Jewish friends, yes. I'm sure the Witnesses know that most early Christians were Jewish, so how is that Christ abandoning and condemning them individually?
Christ condemned Jewish teachers who taught their people that God was more about scrupulously observing rules than mercy, and that traditions which led them to practices unloving things were more important than love. They had missed the point of the law, where it was to lead them. He didn't condemn individual Jews, or else he'd have been condemning his own disciples!
You know, kind of how Witnesses teach that actual blood is more important than the life it represents and miss the point that life itself is sacred. The blood is merely a symbol of life, not life itself...unless you think your blood can exist without you?
