the reason i asked this is because i'm going to the funeral of a man who wasn't a jw.
my mother-in-law has lived in the same neighborhood as him for years and knows his wife.
i asked her if she was going attend the funeral service.
I was when I was one. I never got over it, not really. Because I never really believed a lot of it. Pretty tough to spend 36 years that way just to keep your family.

Some of this is merely personality differences too. I'm quite extroverted and also tactile. So, I'm friendly and like to touch, hug and pat people.
I even got reprimanded at a job once for being too "touchy-feely" which was interesting since physically assisting disabled people was part of my job. I apparently didn't make them dislike it enough when I had to hold their hand or support their arms while walking. *eye roll*
But, yes, I get accused of flirting occasionally when it's unintentional even though I also do it intentionally. I'm 51, not beautiful and do it because I enjoy making other people feel desirable, simple as that.
I even have a t-shirt that says "We can be friends, but with sexual tension." LOL
I view that as the normal situation between heterosexual men and women. They need to be mature enough to handle it because eventually someone will flirt with you and it won't mean a damn thing except they find you attractive or they're in a mood to flirt.
If flirting makes your spouse or significant other insecure, I'd say reassure them that they're the only one you really are in love with by seducing them at every opportunity.

she is fanatically religious, often keeps me on the phone for hours while she talks endlessly about the bible.
"Guidance and support" can be their words for it, but it's just being controlling, really. How can Witnesses not be controlling parents in some ways when they are they themselves controlled by an organization that thrives on it?
In extreme forms, definitely crippling. My mother did a lot of things to try to impose her phobias on me, including all the usual JW ones of anything "worldly" to the point of making it hard for me to get jobs, undermining my self confidence so I wouldn't move out (so she could keep me "in the truth") and she also wanted someone there to faciliate her OCD and agoraphobia.
That's no different than what alcoholic parents do in many ways, they do what they have to do facilitate their addictions, their kids must go along with it or else.

How can you stop flirting entirely when sexual tension between the sexes is normal? I'm married and I flirt with certain people. So does my husband. And we've always been faithful to each other, because it goes no further, and everyone knows we're happily married right up front.
People who don't get that when I'm direct about it, well, I don't know what to say to them except that they're clueless. I'm not going to leave my husband just because I say something funny to them or tell them they're handsome.
I think the burka takes care of that whole flirting thing more completely than anything else I know of.

He lost me when he called the families of victims of 9/11 "whiners".What compassion! He cries a lot, but he lacks empathy to my mind. He does nothing to offer reasonable solutions to the worlds problems, he merely screams, waves the flag and points, and offers conspiracy theories. If there is any truth to any of them, the way he offers them isn't particularly credible.
I don't read or watch pundits of any ilk much anymore. Most of what they say is for ratings, sensationalism. Where the profit motive is concerned, people are prone to veer from total integrity, in my experience.
The other day my 14 year old daughter heard Dr. Phil say something about "warning your kids about the dangers of drugs and alcohol because it can derail them from their goal in life." and she laughed.
Why? Not because she thinks drugs and alcohol abuse is fine, but because Dr. Phil is so unenlightened he thinks life is about a goal rather than a journey. She said, "The only goal post at the end of life is death, it's the journey that matters. "
My 14 year old daughter is wiser than Dr. Phil...how'd he get a show again? How do any of these idiots? I guess knowing Oprah helps. I don't like making people rich for blowing ass in public.

My husband always used to blast Ozzie Osbourne/Black Sabbath and a live recording of a Guns and Roses or Ted Nugent concert with plenty of F-bombs when he was fading and had to work around Witnesses.
If you're not into heavy metal or hard rock, try hymns or classical religious music. The Hallelujah chorus and Ave Maria seems to make JWs kinda of nervous, or Gregorian Chants.
