by mrsjones5 infacebook plays a big part in what i'm about to tell since all the players involved are either currently on facebook or were on it when all this unfolded.
about 2 weeks ago my cousin starts trashing her mother, calling her names and screaming how her mother is a piss poor mother and now she's an orphan.
come to find out that my aunt (who's an on again off again jw - i think she's currently off) has chosen my cousin's bil over her, has been with said bil for close to a year (yeah there's sex involved - brrr gross, makes me sick just thinking about it) and bil is currently in jail for assault and sexually battery on a minor (said minor may be the daughter of another cousin, the granddaughter of my aunt's oldest sister, who was under my aunt's care).

At a 2 day assembly ...the point that the brother spoke about that drove me mad....."don't hug your husband, wife or child during prayer".
by crazy2try ini attended one day of a two day assembly and did ok until the very last talk.
the brother was from bethal and well jw's pay closer attention to their talks, cause that is when some new info is given,,,right.
well anyways i lost focus and began to daydream, cause it became one of those talks that just talks about wasting time.

Remember that Elder that stopped by my house in December ?
by troubled mind inwell i ran into him at the grocery store the other night ......why is it that my throat still tightens up and i get this anxious laugh when i talk to him ?
i want to be confident and assertive ,but ultimately i end up acting like a blubbering idiot !.
backstory is that he stopped by in december because i had put winter decorations out on my porch and he wanted to know if we were indeed celebrating christmas now .

Hi troubled mind,
I understand how you feel. I have felt this way and have made it worse with some family members for telling them how I feel about certain things. In my opinion they don't want to know unless it's your saying your going back to meetings. In their mind you are dead unless you go back, so it doesn't matter how much you have been stumbled my the bad things and false teachings going on in the Org. They want you to look past it because after all... they are imperfect.
It's a no win situation...sadly.

At the bookstudy the elder called on a brother to say prayer..your should have seen the elders wife as she tried to get his attention to stop him, it was hilarious.
See, the brother he called on was a study and you better believe the whole prayer was filled with Lord this and Lord that... it was so funny seeing that outwardly perfect elderette almost lose her mind trying to stop her husband.

As Witnesses we were Trained to be Obedient - Rather than Show Love
by flipper ini can list many examples of this : probably the most glaring thing i saw proving this in 1982 was when an 83 year old sister died of a heart attack on the stage at an assembly part where she gave her experience then sat down next to me and died right on my shoulder on the stage.
i motioned to a brother sitting near me on the stage to help me carry her off the stage - which we did - and the brother and i behind the curtain tried administering cpr.
a registered nurse ran behind the curtain from the audience also - but the annoying thing is the elder giving the talk just kept right on talking to the 3,000 in the audience with no reference to what had just happened !

I see it as duty over compassion.
When my daughter told us about being molested, we were completely devastated and shocked. We were in desperate need of comfort and compassion, so we called an elder that we just knew would help us and comfort us. Imagine the second shock when they were anything but:(
This brother who I thought I knew as being kind and sweet became interrogator #1 on a mission that I didn't understand. Asking questions that should have never been asked to a child, let alone a child that was already suffering.
From that day, I saw for myself that their is nothing loving or compassionate in the way things are done in the Org... It's all about duty and obedience to the instructions from the top.
It was a very sad, but needed wake up call, telling me these people are not anything like Jesus.
It's really hard dealing with the loss of your child's innocence and the loss of your life as you know it, all within a few years.

Pedophiles in your congregation??
by ziddina ini'm listening to the "six screens of the watchtower" broadcast from october 25, 2008 [yeah, i know, i'm waaay behind...], discussing pedophilia... that broadcast caused me to look up the current status of 'pedophilia notification' in the u.s.a..... rebel8 posted a link sometime back that gave locations of pedophiles in one's (u.s.a.) neighborhood... that portion of the link is, unfortunately, not working right now.... i decided to check out my [old] site, http://www.nsopw.gov/core/offendersearchcriteria.aspx to see if it still functioned the same way.... again, unfortunately, that site is also no longer giving out maps of one's area.... but, as pointed out in rebel8's posted link, pedophiles tend to move around.
this was also mentioned in the six screens broadcast by a lady named "lilly".... the new versions of both sites simply allow one to input the name of someone suspected to be a pedophile... not as effective, imo, but perhaps the cost of updating the maps due to pedophiles' high mobility became prohibitive.. so, here's my suggestion... using the 'name' search function, check out every name in .
your congregation, starting with the elders!!!.
