CO's putting the screws on elder bodies, and ministerial servants to auxilliary pioneer this April.

i have such a love/hate, 50/50 relationship with this organization any more, but a letter was read to the elders and ministerial servants that has pushed me to the 30/70 range in favor of hate, if even momentarily.

most of you if not all are aware of the auxilliary pioneering initiative for this upcoming april.

it's no secret that i'm not real fond of pioneering as its unscriptural for one thing.

Here's how to do it. If you can be bothered. It gives "visibility" - it costs a day so the pio-sneers see you - and you can stay an elder and be a hypocrite like I was before I finally had the balls to resign. I'm still a hypocrite because I still go to keep family happy but not as big a one as I used to be because I bother no-one anymore.

Go out as normal - 3 times a month on a Sat or a Sun. But there are five weekends so count 5 times (if I remember correctly) you normally scrape an hour but as you "go on calls before and after" you count 3hrs a time. So that = 15

Take one day off and work with the pioneers. One group am and another pm do 3 hours total and count 8 (those coffee stops all mount up don't they?)

Witness during your lunchbreak - you work 20 days a month and count 30 minutes a day (put a barely visible tract on your desk or on your dashboard while you sleep in your car) = 10

33 hours - simples!

JW paid 13-year-old girl to keep quiet about sex abuse

a man who sexually abused a 13-year-old girl and took obscene photographs of her has been jailed for three years four months.. liverpool crown court heard that 54-year-old geoffrey massey would pay the teenager after molesting her at his home in an attempt to keep her quiet.. but his crimes eventually came to light after he confessed to his daughter, who told other relatives.. in april, following the revelations, his young victim took an overdose and had to be treated at hospital.. jailing 54-year-old massey, who is a jehovah's witness, judge adrian lyon said i have regard for the totality of the offences and in particular the last count, which dealt with a number of photographs you took of the child, aged 13, on your behalf.. there seems to have been a number of occasions on which you engaged in sexual activity with this child.. when the girl was interviewed by police she initially denied massey had done anything wrong.

she told officers he had given her the money for cleaning work.. but after officers re-interviewed her after getting more information, she revealed what had been happening, saying she had felt too foolish to admit it.. massey, of twickenham drive, leasowe, admitted sexual activity with a child, two counts of causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and one further offence of making indecent photographs.. the pictures were never discovered because he had deleted them from his computer.. lee bonner, defending, said once his client had begun the abuse he was too scared to stop for fear his victim would expose his crimes.. essentially, once he had begun he found it very difficult to stop, not because of any particular sexual satisfaction, but because once it had begun and he had begun to give her money he feared the complainant might tell people when the flow of money stopped.. mr bonner told how massey, who had no previous convictions, had left his family, but had been the subject of a hate campaign in his community.. source: http://www.wirralglobe.co.uk/news/8718393.jehovah_s_witness_paid_13_year_old_girl_to_keep_quiet_about_sex_abuse/.

The Liverpool Echo describes his defence counsel as calling him a devout Jehovah's Witness and says that he got 3 years and three months. With "good behaviour" he'll be out in about 20 months. Scumbag.

in chapter 7 of the new elder book, page 98, a subpoint of paragraph 20, dealing with the matter of reproof, it is written "the judicial committee may have specific reasons to believe that the congregation needs to be on guard concerning the repentant wrongdoer.

perhaps he ignored previous counsel several times concerning steps leading to the same wrongdoing.

for example, in a case involving wrongdoing that could be viewed as child sexual abuse, announcing the reproof of a repentant wrongdoer will serve as a protection for the congregation.".

Snoozy - that bit about "male scoutleader" is too extreme a stance for me. As mythbuster says we've had nursery school cases in the UK where women assistants have been involved in molestation or in letting partners molest without intervening.

Each case should be looked at thoroughly on its own merit and your child should be "armed beforehand" with what to do if they feel uncomfortable and how to loudly resist and report any inappropriate behaviour by anyone - schoolteacher, classmate, scoutleader, elder, stepsibling, parent etc etc.

Just because there are 1 in 100 or 1 in 1000 pedo's out there I don't want my kids being initially suspicious of everyone they meet.

Streetwise is what we want - not streetshy.

Anyone got the December KM yet for UK

as it is the end of the jw service year, it would be nice to see how they finished up in august 2010 as regards total publishers.. quite often there seems to be a big push to get as many as possable to put in a service report to finish the year off.. so a scan would be good or just a report on how many publishers they ended up with.

Here in the UK it is the immigrants from poorer countries where the increase is.

I reckon Europe could go stagnant this year - Germany and Scandinavia are often the "zero" heroes!

I wish all you happyclappy USA types would go minus for once! That would really give the boys in Brooklyn a scare!

"That Letter" about sisters not allowed to spiral-bind the new elders manual

you know, the one from the usa branch/brooklyn.. well i ventured a question to a relative who is an elder here in the uk to see if a similar letter had been sent to elders here.

he knows i was an elder and he lets me joke with him to a certain level about how controlling the society is lately.. he confirmed that one has been received and he laughed because it says you can use a d-ring binder (which i guess is the equal uk term for the us "spiral bound" as long as you don't let worldly people do it and that you have to watch the brother do it.).

i asked whether sisters were allowed to do it and he said even the society wouldn't go that far and smiled.. sooooooo .... i am wondering if this uk letter has had the "sister" stuff pulled because it is such an embarrassment?.

Sorry I can see my post can be read both ways. The elder I spoke to in the UK said yes there was a letter saying don't let unbelievers bind the new elders book and that if a brother did it you had to stand over him. I asked whether there was anything about sisters not being allowed to do it. (because I have seen the USA christian cong of jw's letter on this site) and he said there was nothing about sisters in the (UK) letter and he laughed meaning even the society wouldn't go as far as to put that in print!

Any UK takers?
