I Made the Literature Trolley Run Away Today - Twice
by cofty ini popped into town this morning to buy an anniversary card for mrs cofty.
it is market day on a saturday and it's tourist season so the town was very busy.
here is a picture of the scene from a year ago... two cult carts were in their favourite place being guarded by none other than one of the elders who was on my judicial committee, his wife and another jw woman in her electric disability buggy.

How are Pro-JW sites handling the RC situation ???
by RubaDub insorry as this topic may have been covered many times but any thoughts or links to other topics on how the pro-jw websites are commenting on this.. rub a dub.

Many will be reading but afraid to comment for fear of being ostracised by the herd. They are like the iceberg under the surface.
Think about it. Those that frequent these sites and who are hardcore jw's will post all "good things" and yap on in their cult mindset. Those that aren't hardcore will be fearful of posting. But their cogs will be turning. They will grind slowly but they will grind fine.
And then they will be reminded about contributions to build new KH's... and the cogs will turn. And then their kingdom hall will close ... and the cogs will turn. Eventually some of them will wake up.

Geoff Jackson, a man on the run
Was such a dutiful son
What a bad sport
He lied to the court
Now he's gonna get done!

How big a deal is the royal commission..? It seems to be not much...
by _Morpheus inmy understanding (very limited and maybe flawed) is that this commission has no teeth.
if thats true why would the org care?
send a few lawyers, go through the motions but in the end.... its a dog parking on a porch.

Can disassociated ones get reinstated without proving repentance?
by maksutov inone of the jw high-ups questioned by the australian royal commission (i think it was o'brien) stated that those who had disassociated (as opposed to being disfellowshipped) do not have to undergo a lengthy reinstatement procedure of proving repentance over many months, but can simply ask to be reinstated immediately.
is this true?
has anyone heard of this ever happening?.

I winced at his testimony about that. Theocratic warfare at its finest. -

Won't get fooled again ...Moon Landing.
by The Rebel inso i was fooled by the witnesses.
what can i learn from that?
not to accept things at face value but to seek out opinion and different view points.. hence my question " do you believe man landed on the moon?.
-
freddo
I saw the landings on British TV as a kid - allowed to stay up very late because it was early hours of the morning here.
It wasn't until the excellent "Capricorn 1" in the late 70's about faked Mars landings that anyone started on about faked moon landings.

I'm not sure........I listened carefully to Justice McClellan, he said until Friday......
by umbertoecho inhowever, it may be that they are trying to find jackson and see if he will come in to assist.
it has been said on a wt friendly news site, that jackson has declined.
i don't know what this means in terms of what the rc will decide to do.

No it's over for the time being. (Save for the possible appearance of GJ)
You probably were thinking of when Justice McClellan on Wednesday July 29th adjourned until Friday July 31st.
I'll miss it. But then again I need to wash the car and do some chores.

Hello Again
by spoils_useful_habits inhi everyone, i joined this site 9 years ago, posted a few times but decided i just didn't want anything to do with the jw's anymore including perusing exjw sites.
i felt that i just had to completely "detox" myself from this religion, not even talking about how much disgust i had for it.
it did a wonder of good.......but, i recently came across an article about the australian child abuse cases and started to see what was happening with that, which got me here again.

Excuse me butting in but to you who have left and got on with your lives - it would be most helpful to post your experiences since leaving as it will reassure the thousands trying to muster up courage to jump ship. -
