Another casualty of the cult. Do any lurkers or trolls see this as a red flag?

jw grandparents miss my child
by looloo inmy mother received a phonecall from my jw motherinlaw (my mum is not a jw ) she said she would like our address , so she can send her son a get well card , she also said she misses our child who is now 6 and so does her non attendind meetings husband , she said she deserves to suffer but he does not as he dosnt go to meetings (not sure why she deserves to suffer , perhaps thats because she is jw and deserves to suffer because she has "the truth"!
) she told my mum that i would not let them see my child which really annoyed me as what i actually said was "that if her daddy wasnt welcome at their home (he is disfellowshipped) then im sure he would not want his daughter to go either , but i did not ban them from my home .
that was around about a year ago , we were just getting used to no contact even though my husband was very hurt , im not sure what to do now as they are apparently heart broken about not seeing her (even though it was because of them banning their son from the house last year that caused that ,and he was disfellowshipped 14 years ago !

Does the JW Cult Rob People of Their Humanity!
by LittleSister inwell for those of you who many not know i gave birth to a beautiful baby boy on the 31st jan, however our joy soon turned to concern when it was discovered our son had breathing problems.
this concern later turned to fear as we learned that he had a congenital diaphragmatic hernia (cdh) and that he would need an operation asap.. basically our baby had a hole in his diaphragm and most of his digestive system now resided in his left chest cavity compressing his heart and lungs into the remain space in the right cavity.
this is a very serious condition and much of the information we were given made very bleak reading.

It also robs them of their natural inclination to care for their children. Where else but a cult can you get mother to turn her back on her own children who are begging for her attention? I've seen it first hand (as you all have to). It's devastating. And the mother will "die a martyr" for this cult, because damned it she'll go back to her children. Just sick.........

The Awakening
by AK - Jeff ina time comes in your life when you finally get...when, in the midst of all your fears and insanity, you stop dead in your tracks and somewhere the voice inside your head cries out...enough1 enough fighting and crying and blaming and struggling to hold on.
then, like a child quieting down after a tantrum, you blink back your tears and begin to look at the world through new eyes.. .
you realize its time to stop hoping and waiting for something to change, or for happiness, safety and security to magically appear over the next horizon.. .

The Wisdom of No Escape and the Path of Loving Kindness- No need for religion in spirituality
by OnTheWayOut inreading tmj4477's thread about religion after jw's and reading perry trying to counter ak-jeff on a thread about god and suffering, both of these made me want to post some eastern thought that doesn't fall into the category of "religious" but might help nonetheless.. .
excerpt from the wisdom of no escape (with subtitle: and the path of loving-kindness).
chapter 8: no such thing as a true storyin taoism there's a famous saying that goes, "the tao that can be spoken is not the ultimate tao.

bythesea, Nice to meet you! My journey started two years ago this month actually when Oprah did her thing with Eckhart Tolle and A New Earth and I remember how every cell in my body just resonated with this stuff and because I was already on my way out of the org, it just helped me so much to see how ludicrous that whole life really was and how far off the mark they are, and not just jw's but "religion" itself. I have Eckhart in the car but not Wayne....yet. I'm getting ready to listen to Stillness Speaks by Tolle on cd. In all actuality, when I read Jesus words through Awareness, I can see what he was saying, that we have it within us, we always have. And to me all those miracles he performed, was his way of showing us what we are really capable of if we only knew it! But people made a religion out of him and missed the point. I could talk for hours on that but the gist is that I think man is waking up in general because it's time and as we do we are going to witness things we didn't think were possible.

Borg court: 1st session
by sd-7 inrecord of committee meeting #1. after prayer, proverbs 28:13 was read: "he who is covering over his transgressions will not succeed, but he who is confessing and leaving them will be shown mercy.
" the need to confess to jehovah was emphasized.
as jehovah's representatives, the elders said we therefore needed to confess to them.

Witches, homosexuals, evolutionists, atheists, liars, thieves, are always trying to force others into their mold to be what they are. That is not free. And those groups have progressively and intentionally altered society to allow their ideas but not Christian’s ideas. Those type of people are bullies and I really don’t like bullies.
I'm sorry my friend but you have to put Christians in that category to. I'm happy that you are happy, I truly am. But you and others could live that same life with out the "Baptist" title. The problem here is all these Titles we put on people. Drop the titles and just live good lives. And I don't know, but come election time, I see the candidates more worried about pleasing the "Christians" than witches, homosexuals, evolutionists atheists liars and thieves. The way I see it so called "Christianity has been running the show for a very long time and "bulling" the rest of the world into seeing it their way.

You make an excellent point about repressed feelings. And your right, it's a fine line.

I think for me the moral issues (like my own) can be particularly troubling. I've seen a lot of the bad results of fornication in people's lives--custody battles, struggling single moms, etc. I think if I was going to give advice to my child about this issue, I'd probably recommend that they, at the very least, wait until they could handle that kind of decision (sex) responsibly, and wait until they find someone that genuinely proves trustworthy over a significant period of time. To...figure out what they themselves want first, and then try to find someone who fits around that, not just try to find someone because you don't want to be alone. Putting the Biblical issues aside, that's my take.
Absolutley agree! That's what I meant about motive. I wouldn't teach my children that it was ok to go out and fornicate (and I don't like that word btw) with whoever, wherever. I would teach them that any sexual encounter should be one based on love. My problem is that "religion" shouldn't be the one to set that guideline. Only as individuals would we know how WE felt or why WE were doing what we are doing. Yes there are so many problems when this kind of thing happens from the wrong motive. And you know what, if we get caught up in something that turns out to hurt us or someone else then let that be your guide that it was "wrong" and not to do it again!
