  i am sort of digging the olympics.

  plus, i used to live in a state that really should be annexed by canada anyway, michigan.

  but i love hockey, autumn, maple syrup, and cold weather.

  How do you cope with a zealous JW wife?

  i've been out for a little while now - fading was my chosen strategy.

  before then, elder for around 20 years - all the usual stuff.. why leave?

  (1) reading other material and thinking for yourself - never too late (2) couldn't stomach any more judicial committees where i had to preside over handing out edicts that were going to wreck peoples' lives (3) final realisation that i'm not going to let my children die because of the false 'blood' interpretation (4) nail in the coffin, which opened my eyes to the 'rotteness at the core' of the organisation, was the deliberate mis-quoting of scientists and others, to make a lie seem like truth.. anyway, my wife (both pioneered together) is as zealous as ever - more so now.

  Out of all this, the most difficult thing for me to cope with is the grief, the sobbing, the 'broken my heart' stuff. I can't see a way through this, unless I return to the meetings and ministry. It's been around 2 years now, and it's not getting better - worse if anything.

  Imo, that would not be a good idea because then she will still be critical of you for not being "the usable brother" and the embarrassment you bring to her and the kids being at the hall. It just wouldn't be the same. No matter what you do, from here on out your always going to be doing something wrong. So the best thing you can do is stay true to YOUR direction. This was mentioned above but I'll second it, it always amazes me that the one who leaves gets all the blame for dividing the family. The jw NEVER considers that them being the jw, is dividing the family also! That's the superiority.

  Try to find things you can agree to do together and tell her that's the best you can do for the situation but going back to this org is not an option.

  imho, there are times when individuals/famlies/communities/states/nations must take up arms to defend themselves.

  Non-practising homosexual JW's

  as i understand it, being gay is not a sin in the organization, only homosexual acts are sins.

  i've never read anywhere that gay jw people are encouraged to "fix" their gayness and marry.. i've certainly known a fair number of confirmed bachelor types who live exemplary lives in the witness sense - one life-long bethelite i knew springs to mind - but are clearly (to me anyway) gay.

  they've all been in the closet though.. i wonder if any jw has ever been out of the closet, but not disfellowshipped since they don't have sex?

  And I've never heard of this org encouraging ANYONE with ANY problem to get ANY type of outside help with ANYTHING. Telling gay guys to just get married would be the extent of their training and advice on the subject. Sounds about right to me!
