What would Christianity look like without Paul's writings?
by AK - Jeff ina thowoff from ren's thread obviously.. i am firmly convinced that what is called christianity today - is actually just pauline theology.. if you removed all the portions of the nt that are attributed to paul, and actually accepted as primary the words of jesus and his direct followers - the worldwide movement would look far different doctrinally.
and as far as the fundy's go - they would be lost without the deep judgmentalism and rules oriented thinking of this writer [whomever he really was].. if ren's thread could go 15 pages and counting - why not this one?.

what was the worst advice you were ever given
by rockmehardplace ini was that one way to increase my field service time for me and my wife was by standing at a truck stop and hand out tapes to truckers in the early mornings.
this is the same lot that is frequented by drug dealers and hookers.
another time, while studying, i said i did not understand the blood issue.

Hey boyzone, I forgot about that one! I to was in a divided household and was told it was my responsibility to do it all, the parenting, the dicipling, the planning, the arrangements, meetings, fs, etc.........I did that for 13 years and got burnt out and had a melt down. It ruined my marriage and sent me to the dr. The brothers didn't care....
How bout this one to: if there's nothing bad going on in your life you must be doing something wrong because Satan only persecutes those who are doing Jehovah's will! What?!!...........wf

I would like to thank my children......
by awildflower in......for being so obedient and cooperative during our lives as jw's.
for getting ready for all of those meetings and doing their best to study before hand and comment.

......for being so obedient and cooperative during our lives as JW's. For getting ready for all of those meetings and doing their best to study before hand and comment. For volunteering to help the elderly and others with yard work and cooking and babysitting. For never getting into trouble and making the best of not having a lot of friends, never getting involved with sports, for skipping classroom parties and all those cupcakes that went around. For trying to stand up for what they were taught was the 'truth' when all the other kids teased you and didn't understand. Thank you for giving those who hurt us the benefit of the doubt even though they were wrong. For hugging me and telling me you loved me no matter what. For caring about my feelings enough to not upset me with talk against the org even though your own little hearts and minds and intutition were telling you different.
Thank you for starting the research that started our fade. Thank you for not being afraid to speak up when you felt like enough was enough. Thank you for once again making a life change with me, following me into freedom and once again being careful of my feelings. Thank you even now for your patience in waiting for me to catch up to you because you are free and running away with life now. Thank you for still having strong morals and values, when they said you wouldn't, and being able to look back at our experience and being kind and loving enough, as children are, to take the good out of it and not focus on the bad. Thank you for still wanting to care for people and animals and the planet. Thank you for still praying and loving your God.
Most of all thank you for being mine and helping me through this time. I truly know what Jesus words meant when he said "we must become like the little children." Thank you!.........mom

I was confiding in a sister about the state of my marriage and eventually I talked to the elders about it and in both cases they said to just go have sex with my husband. I kid you not! I opted for the meds instead!..........wf

by rockmehardplace inwent to the movies with some jw friends over the weekend.
a preview for this movie was shown.
when we left the movie, everyone talked about this preview and how we would see this all happen in our time - minus the govt ships taking people to safety.

The Mayans did not have distruction in mind with that date 2012. To them it was the end of time as we know it, not the end of the world. That's all hollywood. But the Mayans and 2012 is a very interesting topic!.......wf

This has been on my mind all week! I can't believe how great this thread is and how it's answering a lot of questions for me. The more I get to know God/Universe/Source and how it is all incompasing and all loving, unconditional love, and the peace and love Jesus stood for, I go back and read the Bible and some of those books just don't fit with that kind of God. Paul's work has been bothering me. When he said Jesus stopped him on the road, the donkey talked, Jesus gave him an assignment to fulfill, it hit me how much that sounds like many religious leaders today, "I saw a vision, and God told me what I must do, follow me etc...." I'm not sure I even believe that account anymore. Jesus did not organize anything! He was so enlightened and aware and organized religion, especially JW's, don't even come close to his awareness. Great thread and I hope to learn more!............wf

Too bad our daughter was born....
by Albert Einstein in"too bad our daughter was born...., otherwise we could jehovah more fully.... ".
thats what on many occasions our long time family friend (an elder) told us.
believe it or not, they were saying this in her presence (she was 16 at the time)!!!.

I remember at the last circuit assembly when they were doing the interviews on pioneering one brother said he was a great artist but came to the conclusion that that wasn't important, pioneering was and so he gave it up. Then the other brother described all the arrangements he had recently been making to make room for pioneering and he said the only thing that really stood in his way now "was caring for his family"! I couldn't believe it! Why do people serve a God who would want you to give up a wonderful talent or look at you family as 'in the way' to pioneering? That is not the God I know. It was really sad. So of course the message to the audience is that nothing, not art, jobs, recreation, or apparently even your family, should be first, or even a part of your life, over pioneering. Then the guilt trip sets in on us and you all know the rest of the story. I'm so glad my God is not Reniaa's God...............wf

You know, if this org is the best Holy Spirit can do, then we're all in trouble! I for one think the JW org underestimates the Holy Spirit of the universe and that's a shame.........wf
