Witness came to my door this morning....
by lalaa inthis is the first time ever that the they have come to my door.
all i can say is that the man's presentation wasn't good at all.. first he started asking what i thought about the rapture, but didn't really get into the topic, and said that the word rapture wasn't mentioned in the bible.
then he said the watchtower goes over the signs of the end...blah, blah, blah...nothing interesting to add.. then he showed me the awake and said he liked the picture of the hands and said..."did you know that there are over 50 bones in our hands".

There was no we are encouraging bible reading like I would say when I used to go door to door or trying to engage me in any type of conversation. It just seemed like this was routine for him and it was a sad, boring presentation. UGH! I'm sure he won't be back. He probably just wanted to count his 2 magazines as placed.
I could have done better and I haven't been door to door since 2003.
The poor girl that was with him (around 16 or 17) reminded me of myself 15 years ago. So innocent and not knowing that there really is life beyond the witnesses and field service. It made me sad for a bit, but then I realized how far I've come from being in that place in my life.

Going to Las Vegas in 3 weeks!!!!!

i love going to vegas and try to go about every 3-4 years.
the last time we went was 3 years ago and we did not gamble as we were trying to do "what is right".

I'm going to Vegas in 3 weeks as well.....This is the second year in a row that I'm going, but it's actually for work. I still get to have fun after a few hours of work stuff.

My first semester at college was a sucess!!
by noni1974 ini got my grades today.
i ended up with a 3.57 gpa and i'm able to join phi beta kappa, which is the honnors society at my school.
not to bad for an ex jw that never graduated from high school.

Congrats! I'm a Business Admin major too. This coming semester will be my fourth semester at community college.
I'm so happy to know that I'm not the only person who's going to college in their 30's.

DEMONS
by Band on the Run ingrowing up in the fifties and sixties, stories of demonic possession were prevalant in the watchtower and awake.
i was terrified.
we were told they would bother you if you were faithful, but also if you fell away.

7 years ago when I still lived with my family we lived out in the country. From day one when we moved out there my mom and sister (JW's at the time) always heard stuff and saw things. The only time I was bothered was in my sleep. I always had terrible nightmares that I couldn't explain. These were scary demonic nightmares that scared the crap out of me.
When I moved out on my own the nightmares stopped.
Also..when I was still living there I heard a knock (really loud) that was at my window, then the other side of my room that went all around the house. This happened at night and scared the living crap out of me because our home was gated with 3 huge dogs that would bark at anything and anyone. Since they were silent that scared me even more.
I've never been scared of demons....I just don't like it when they showed up in my dreams.

I can spot JW's a mile away....
by lalaa inso earlier today i was having lunch with my sister when 3 ladies walked in to the restaurant.
one in her early 20's..one in her late 30's early 40's and the last one maybe somewhere in her 50's.
when i looked up and glanced at them i said to my sister that i bet those are jw's since they were all dressed in service clothes.

So earlier today I was having lunch with my sister when 3 ladies walked in to the restaurant. One in her early 20's..one in her late 30's early 40's and the last one maybe somewhere in her 50's. When I looked up and glanced at them I said to my sister that I bet those are JW's since they were all dressed in service clothes. They ended up sitting by us and one of them brought their book bag in with the Asleep magazine peeking out. So nosey me was listening in to a little bit of their convo while eating. Then the young girl was talking about how she went to a concert (did'nt hear what type it was) and how she started to hand out magazines since she just felt that she had to share the good new with everyone there.
The rest of their conversation was pretty boring...talking about sister so and so being sooooo encouraging...However, I do have to say that I didn't hear them gossip (maybe they saved the gossip for actual field service). I was kinda hoping that they would so I could say something to them. Anyway.....Listening to them talk made me realize that their standard cult language has not changed a bit. I don't miss it at all.

Should we choose ease of technology over actual face to face communication?
by lalaa ini know that this doesn't have anthing to do with what's usually posted on here but i recently had a discussion with a friend of mine and she said that if she had that choice she would do everything on her computer or blackberry.
the thought of talking to people that she wasn't familiar with scared her at times.
she said that she knows a lot of people that feel the same way as her.....now i will admit i do love the internet, facebook, technology, etc.... (and this site)....but i think good old fashion face to face communication is still #1 in my book.. how do some of you guys feel about face to face interaction?.
