So when you think about the change in the bookstudy, and this has been talked about alot, it is all about money. The idea is that you go from one hour to half hour for the congregation book study. this in turn pushes twice as long to finish the book. although, the way the reading breaks down now i think it is getting stretched out longer. this aids in to places, number one, you save on printing. not as many books need printed. number two, you save in costs of having to actually put the work in to produce new books since it would be hard to have to sit through the revelation book for a fourth or fifth time.

oh great and lofty governing body
by booby init's a good thing we changed our meeting schedule when we did.
restriction of this sort could have been used against us.
good that the governing body decided to make this change.

Any Experience with Two Judicial Committees?
by dig692 inhi everyone, just wondering if anyone that is or was df'd before has any experience with moving to a new congregation and having to meet with their old jc and a new jc at their new hall?.
a friend of mine who is df has been trying to get back in to reconnect with her family and is having a really hard time with the reinstatement process.
she has been attending meetings at the new congregation for about a year now and has asked the new jc to meet to discuss her reinstatement.

the holy spirit with the old jc may know something about the holy spirit of the new jc that is holding the new holy spirit back from directing the new jc with a correct decision. or the old jc holy spirit is doing something wrong that is making it give a bad decision to the old jc when in fact the new holy spirit has the correct info and is directing the new jc the correct way but it will be hard to overcome the ....wait, now i am confused, what was the question?
seriously, can anyone else see the issue as plain as day?

the other big issue for me is this. how can you belong to an organization that preaches that they have love like no one else, yet many of the people are treated so poorly in the congregation. if you have questions or doubts, why can you not ask? you are treated harshly for even considering such things. consider the july awake, is it ok to change your religion article. this article is to be presented to people to convince them that it is ok to look into another religion and examine it. yet, if a jw does that, you can bet that you will be severly disciplined. very hypocritical. and before someone argues that once you found the "truth", you should not need look. how do you know it is the 'truth" if you dont compare it

oompa, i told you before, you are one of my favs here. hope it gets better real soon with everything. remember, the WT world messed with alot of our heads and some of the people in it didn't help. dont let them mess everything else up as well. i dont always give advice, especially when i am as screwed up as the next person, but stay off the gin. make it work.
just as a side note, you kill me everytime with you wit and humor.

Calling Young Brothers to Bethel while Kicking Out the Loyal Ones
by Ultimate Reality inthis week marks the news of two "young" brothers i know being accepted to brooklyn bethel.. this pattern continues to demonstrate the current "human resources" policy of the current gb.
while telling those that have spent the best years of their life, "we need you in the field", they continue to bring in the healthy, unsuspecting young brothers so they can be used up with nothing to show for it late in life.. at last year's d.c. there was an interview with a brother that had been "sent back to the field" some 4 months prior to the convention.
what was so sad, is that the brother was clearly alone, and perhaps scared, in his new assignment in a remote rural area with a congregation of 40. he had been accepted to bethel after high school, never pioneered, and had been at bethel for 30 years!

hearing that just really burns me. any organization that someone can give their best years to and they are thrown out on the street with no marketable skills is horrible. oh, yeah, they gave him the preaching work to do. like that is going to put food on the table and shelter over his head.

Creative ways to pad your field service hours
by keyser soze ini was usually honest about my hours for the most part.
but there was this one time..... i was auxiliary pioneering back in april of 2000. that was also the month we had planned to go down to south carolina to visit my brother, was living there at the time.
the trip was the last week of the month.

Once a month, my favorite is the one where we have a return visit in a far off territory (our territory covers an extensive area) and it takes a good half hour to just get there. but we know before we even leave, this woman will not be home. she never is on the weekends. so we drive out, knock on the door, leave a note to count the return visit, then stop for a bite to eat at this restaurant that has a wonderful brunch, and head back to town. by that time, we killed almost 2 hours of our 3 hour morning and we fill the rest with other "return visits"
