I know one where he wanted to call it off but would not tell anyone why. Her elder dad and his elder buddies called him out and told him he would be removed as MS and never see elder in his lifetime or Jehovah's lifetime unless he had valid reason to call it off. He chose to not say anything and went through with it and they are still married. There was always rumors why but no one ever confirmed.

Calling off Your Wedding Engagement
by shamus100 inin judgerutherfords thread (welcome, btw), he made mention on how he called off his engagement with his girlfriend.
i was always told that calling off your engagement was a big deal, and highly frowned upon in the org.
was this true in your part of the world, or was this just a local thing?.

Is there a part of you eating away from the inside wishing you could show the world who you are and what you found out?
by StoneWall inand does it seem like it is getting harder to keep in with each and every day?.

It is killing me holding stuff in. However, just like a big overblown balloon, I simply let a little air out now and then by dropping bits of information in a non-critical way so that I don't pop.

Did You Get Sick Of "Waiting On Jehovah"?
by minimus ini hated it when i heard elders and other witnesses tell a suffering person, "just wait on jehovah".
if a person continued waiting (and suffering) they were told that jehovah was "allowing" them to be tested.
too many people waited for nothing!.

and for her, that was years ago. Last I heard, she did split with the guy {Jehovah punisher her}. However, the part of the story that the JWs never mention is she ended up marrying another guy {not a JW} and they are doing great. Couple kids and a good job, nice house.

my favorite "wait on Jehovah" moment was when a young sister in my first congregation was DF'd for moving in with her "up to that moment in time" secret boyfriend. One of the brothers asked her why she did not "wait on Jehovah" for a spiritual brother to marry. She replied that she did wait and Jehovah kept sending losers, so she went out on her own to find a guy.

I would send my resume with my education and other background information as to why I am a good candidate for running a corporation. Wait a minute, I have the wrong company.

1. Sorry about your Grandmother. Loss of family is very tough and I am glad you had time privately.
2. As for how the request for a bible study works. You submit online and it takes a few weeks to go from HQ to the local congregation for where you live. Someone will show up I am sure of that.
3. As you have probably read, some of us are out by decision. Some of us are in and want out by our own decision. Some of us are stuck by our own decision. Some of us are just not sure what is going on, again by our own decision. You are 32 and a grown adult. What ever decision you make, let it be an informed decision not based solely on emotion. It is tough to lose someone and like all of us that have lost someone, we want more time with them. Read, compare, talk to others. Remember, studying from one book about the bible is not going to give you all the information you need to make a decision.
4. Sorry that you like Insane Clown Posse. Not because they are "bad" as in "bad", but "bad" as in horrible to the ears.

Did You Personally Believe "The End" Was Going To Come In Your Lifetime?
by minimus inhonestly, i never believed in the chronology.
"no man knows the day or the hour" was pretty clear to me..

i always thought that the end would come, i just always believed that i would not see it and i am fairly young still. i just thought even when i was first in that it was just a way to keep people in line. "Well Brother rockMEhardplace...if you don't follow all instructions and do all your field service, you might not make it through into the new system, and that is just around the corner."

JW PARROT
by iknowall558 ina man went to a pet shop and purchased a parrot.
it belonged to a jehovah's witness because it kept repeating, "read the watchtower and awake", "avoid worldly association", "the end of the system is near".
squawk!.

I hate that joke. Every JW function I have ever been to, someone tells that joke. I always ask myself if I want to spend eternity hearing that joke. I guess the real joke is spending eternity anywhere at this point.

Actually, the couple can enter a marriage arrangement from a biblical perspective without a formalized ceremony. However, in obeying Ceasar's law, a marriage is not validated until the law obligation is met. Since they must register and be married by a state ordained minister to recognize the marriage and fulfill the law requirement, only then is it considered a marriage. Therefore, the couple is not viewed married until this is done. So I guess my point is, there needs not be any ceremony to recognize the marriage before God, but to continue obeying Ceasar, you must comply before sharing a mattress.
