To me shows how shallow witnesses are especially the question "are your parents in the "truth" and if so "one or both" and oh "have you ever been to Bethel".....Those things don't mean a thing. So stupid.

Even when I was an active witness I never really understood what was so wrong with Thanksgiving......I used to hate to say "We give thanks everyday and don't need one special day to do that." Duh, so stupid. Mainly what bothers me about Thanksgiving today is what was done to the Native Americans, as for the pagan crap don't see it a bit.

wife took it pretty well i guess...it's over...
by oompa ini guess it only took three years, but they were hell in so many ways for both of us...she was not happy and lived in denial as much as possible...i was not happy and lived in a bottle as much as possible and glad that is over for me....but it was one of the saddest things i have ever experienced in my life....as was the visit to my parents before i told her....but yes...she said she kind of expected it...was thinking something was going to happen soon as she noticed i had more and more trouble saying i love you back to her when she said it on the phone at the end of goodbyes...and when i was leaving the house...i had noticed it for over a year and it was killing me..... i told her how sorry i was for changing so much again....and that she still walks on water...and is a great person and so pretty....and that she will be ok because she was happy single before me for many years and had all she needs for that again...her closeness to jehovah and her freinds in the congregation...she is very close to both and will be ok i hope...it was very surreal....very calm...very sad.
my bitterness and disdain for wt rules came through when talking to my parents and i was very open about how i feel as to their upcoming shunning of me, and how it feels to my son since he was just 17....and how the fear of losing them had kept me trying in my marriage for the past few years...dad was firm in his position of future action....mom said they will still always love me...and will still talk to me until i get dfd.....oh how this hurts.....dad said there is a name for people who only live for themselves and deny god but could not think of what it was....i told him i was not living just for myself...that i am a good person and there are values from him and the bible i hope i always have....i cry so hard as i type this and tell you just so you can know how painful this is....i told him i so loved the rule of treating others how you want to be treated and have always done that...even allowing myself to be wronged on so many occasions to keep peace....... he said that was a good rule....i agreed and said it was a big one too....and that while i could do it...treat him the way i would like to be treated...he would not be able to!.......left as i became emotional...big hug from mom, but i just barely put an arm on dad............oompa.

Man Vs. Woman---The Organization's View
by minimus inwomen in the "truth" are considered lower than men or even male children!
for years, females couldn't give talks in the ministry school.
now, interperters who are female must wear a head covering as if they were teaching, mot merely repeating for fear they might offend the angels!.

Right on minimus. Totally organizational and man made rules on women. They love to keep us down but not me cause I am out!!! I had a thought the other day. You know how you touched on the fact that the society forces women to wear dresses/skirts and would totally freak out if sisters wore nice pant suit to the meetings. Over in Scotland men wear kilts to formal occasions. I know I have seen on t.v. they wear kilts to weddings, etc. So over there since it is common for the men to wear kilts do the women have to wear pants????? You know with the good ole boys up in Brooklyn there is no blurring of the lines with looking like a man and looking line a woman. How would they answer that one?????

According to bookstudy, it's ok to beat wife.....occassionally
by JWinprotest ini apologize if this has been mentioned, but i don't have the time to come on here as often.
yesterday's bookstudy on divorce got my shorts in a bit of a knot.
apparently, according to the god's love book, a wife could consider legal separation from her husband if she is physically abused, but (get this) only in the case of extreme physical abuse, and if the wife's life is in danger.

If you think about experiences they always give, it is never of the wife who was getting abused and decided she had enough and left her spouse. Then she lived happily ever after. No it is always, Sister Meek was abused by her husband for 55 years and do to her conduct the jerk was "won over without a word".......He is getting baptized today. Round of applause please.....Just like they always give experiences of high school graduates who turned a million dollar scholarship to pioneer and they are so happy cleaning toilets and Jah is providing. Yipppeee. It is not ever of a high school graduate who went to college and is now so happy to be making a decent living and cause the pressure of eaning a living is not hanging over their head they can concentrate on "spirtual matters." They make their points loud and clear. It is called peer pressure/ mind control.

"origins" of things like holidays...what jw started this crap?
by oompa ini do not believe there is any bible precedent for the wt teaching that the origin of some celebration is important...as in it is pagan...and back in 1914 holidays and b-days were ok...i know that changed, but why?...why did all of a sudden it matter the origin of it?...i tried to get wife to see the folly of the wt position of saying pinatas dont matter now despite an evil disgusting satanic wicked origin...to no avail.
on a side note of similar interest...who came up with the teaching inanimate objects could be possessed by demons when it never happened in the bible and how often do they do that anymore?.........thanks....see i can still be serious!.......oompa.

I think they wanted so much to be "different" that they started looking for things that would make them stand out. Now of course they have shot themselves in the foot because pretty much everything in our society that we live in today has pagan origins. Also since they came out saying pinatas were a conscious matter "since they are not used for the same thing they originally were".......Got news for them that pretty much applies to everything. So stupid.

Ladies, would you have preferred to talk to a female elder in the past?
by asilentone inladies, would you rather to confess your sins to a female elder rather than a male elder?
i am sure a good number of you has already confessed to the elders.
well, i did confess to the elders 20 years ago because i felt so guilty and i did not want to die at armageddon, thanks a lot to the watchtower for the guilt trips in their literature!

Good question. I think on some matters women would be more comfortable talking to another woman. In order to understand certain situations I think you would need to go through them. There are some things men will never understand such as postpartum depression for example. I am not saying men cannot be compassionate about certain subjects but like the saying "you never understand a person until you walk in their shoes" certainly would apply.
