Were you 'alive in '75' and how was that year for you?
by punkofnice ini was a junior borgite in 1975. i remeber looking at the calendar at work in october and thinking: 'armageddon isn't here yet.....and it doesn't feel like it will be here anytime soon either!'.
i was surprised that jehovah hadn't obeyed the superior command to bring the big 'a' as instructed to him by fred franz.
how dare god disobey the jw leader!!!!!.

I was 2 and it would be 11 years before the watchtower hell effected my life. So sorry for all the crap you all had to undergo who were teenagers/young adults during that time. Flipper your story was sad but so funny all at the same time.

What is it with all the men waking up but the wives stay in? Why is it the opposite for me?
by Cadellin inthis is something i've thought about for a while now.
it seems like the same story on this board over and over--the husband, who also might be an elder, ms, etc.--starts having doubts and researching, aka miseryloveselders and franklin massey and others.
he starts to smell the coffee and realizes that this organization isn't what it claims to be.

Wow to think one reason I left the org was the hurtful stereotyping of women and wow look what I see here...the same thing. So men think and women feel huh? Well I a mere female and I was the first one to leave. I am very analytical and that is why I had to get the hell out. Here's a shocker women are capable of thinking ability.... Leave the crap stereotyping where it belongs in the crap religion. I thought this was supposed to be an "enlightened" board.....guess not.

May 15 WT sisters support your husband.....or else!
by hoser inthe new study watchtower page 9 explains how sisters should be happy to be servants to their elder husbands.. "co-operate in financial matters".
"joyful to see her husband active in the congregation".
if he makes a decision you disagree with "she displays a quiet and mild spirit and cooperates with him to make his decision work".

I love how the idiots writing this crap are so out of touch with reality. Reality is a two income family now. They still assume the husband works and the wife does not. That is the majority of marriages now. So what about the husband pressuring the wife to work overtime or how about if he squanders HER hard earned money....assholes. You know sometimes I think I can go back and "pretend" but with crap like that I know I could not sit through that.....It would be a disservice to my daughter to raise her with views like that on women.

The WT Headship Principle (tm): Did you ever REALLY buy it?
by Open mind ini believed that god was the big boss and his first-line supervisor was jesus.. .
everything beyond that got a bit shaky for me throughout my jw life.. .
but this bit, i never bought into for even an instant: the husband is the head of the wife.. .

Nope thought it was crap. THe headship arrangement never played a part in our marriage at all and we were pioneers and he was a ministerial servant.

Why Women Love Jerks
by compound complex indo nice guys lose to bad boys?.
[see advert.
i'm afraid to look ...].

I think it is because we as a society do not hold men accountable. We almost expect men to be jerks. It is almost as if men get extra credit for any act of kindness. If men were held accountable for their actions then they would have to change their behavior. Also most people do not stop and think for themselves and just follow what is considered "normal". Normal in our society is the alpha male. It is acceptable for a man to be domineering, rude, loud, aggressive but these same qualities are still not acceptable for a woman. I despise these kinds of men and believe that a "real" man does not need to put on some kind of facade.

Did having a Bethelite travel to your congregation and deliver a talk motivate, encourage, or excite you?
by miseryloveselders ini ask this, because i just got wind that at my hall, we're paying the travel expenses for a bethelite to come and do our memorial talk.
i don't know how much this is going to run us, but i fail to see the practicality of it.
he's not delivering a special memorial outline or anything.

No never inspired or motivated me. They mostly annoyed me. I hated how everyone fawned over them....I was like they are just a freaking person. They were usually geeky ones at that.

So sorry to hear about that. Your mom sounds like she was crazy and that is why she was attracted to the JW's. They tend to draw the crazies. There must be some sort of physocolgical condition where moms treat their daughters like crap and put their sons on pedastols. I don't understand it at all. It is almost as if they expected us to be nurturing towards our brothers.....I myself was molested by my oldest brother at the age of 4 and so I can relate to your pain. I also know the pain of when you finally have the nerve to come out and tell your parents who are supposed to protect you and they just dismiss you as if you don't count. There are no answers. The only thing I can say is time heals all wounds. I tell myself I am an adult. I am in control of my life now and the best thing I can do is to get on with MY life. I call the shots now. ME. That is what keeps me sane. Hang in there.
