Really, There Is A Lot To Learn About Your Faith
by AllTimeJeff inin ak - jeffs thread "did jesus ever claim to be the messiah", narkissos said the following that i think, and have learned, is rather profound:.
a better approach to this discussion might start with questioning the presupposition that there was one concept of "messiahship" common to all or even most 1st-century ad jews.. the idea is, we assume that the faith and religion we have now, is as it was way back then... clearly, it isn't.. i haven't devoted a great deal of my time to this subject, but i have read enough to realize that there is a lot more to the history of our churches and religions then we think.
jw history is pretty easy, as they started in the late 19th century.

When bad spelling trolls leave, new bad spellers (studies, JW's, JW lovers) arrive
by OnTheWayOut ini will totally leave names out, as many get all huffy about that.
it's also possible that i am wrong, though i doubt it.. it's just that some trolls seem to deliberately be terrible spellers to make themselves look more naive and when they leave here for whatever reason, some new bad speller comes along in less than a week with an impossible problem or a complicated love situation with a jw or they are a firm believer with questions.
just watch out.

" Bottom line: there are children dying of hunger in the world. There are seniors wasting away from neglect. There are folks of all walks of life, races, and ages… who are ill, many terminally so. There are folks that are homeless, abused, abandoned, enslaved, and perhaps worse. My point? As “christians” there is so much more for us to be “worried” about (if indeed we need to worry), rather than whether someone unrelated, let alone related, to us is masturbating. Really. "
I agree, Amen.

What do you think - are most ex-JWs atheist, agnostic, or still involved in some form of religion?
by lifelong humanist ini dad 6 years ago because, after a rational search came to the conclusion that there probably is no god.
shortly afterwards, i concluded that (for me) there is no god, which made me feel that i really was a natural-born humanist - a position that i'm entirely comfortable with.
i know that many former jws hold a similar, atheistic viewpoint.
