I want to post some information about the arresting of the elder who humiliated me by man handleing me that may require years of therapy to over come.
For you or for him ..?
arrested for going kingdumb hall!.
last night (3/21) the mountain view (ca) police arrested me.. this happened as i was attending the sunnyvale congregation service meeting.. i was dfd last july and was told by the elders the conditions for reinstatement were meeting attendance, repentance along with not speaking to anyone or anyone speaking to me (shunning at its finest).
(btw, i was dfd for apostasy).

Taken from Insight Meditation - The Practice of Freedom by Joseph Goldstein:
In his book Love's Executioner, the well-known Stanford psychiatrist Irwin Yalom writes: "I do not like to work with patients who are in love. Perhaps it is because of envy. I, too, crave enchantment. Perhaps it is because love and psychotherapy are fundamentally incompatible. The good therapist fights darkness and seeks illumination, while romantic love is sustained by mystery and crumbles upon inspection. I hate to be love's executioner."Is there a kind of love that does not crumble on inspection, that is compatible with and enhances illumination? Is there a difference between the enchantment of falling in love and that quality of being when we are standing in love? This special quality in Pali is called metta, lovingkindness.
Metta is generosity of the heart that wishes happiness to all beings, both oneself and others. Lovingkindness softens the mind and heart with feelings of benevolence. The mind becomes pliable and the heart gentle as metta seeks the welfare and benefit of all. The feeling of lovingkindness expresses the simple wish "May you be happy."
Because we react less and remain more open when we cultivate metta, the softness and pliability of love become the ground for wisdom. We see with greater clarity what is wholesome and skillful in our life and what is not. As this discriminating wisdom grows, we make wiser choices that lead us again to greater happiness and more love.
-------
The feeling of metta makes no distinction among beings. When love is mixed with desire, there is some energy of wanting, and therefore the love always remains limited. We may desire one, or two, or perhaps three people, but I think there has never been desire for all beings in the world. Unlike desire, metta has the capacity to embrace all; no one lies outside its sphere. People with this feeling of love are always blessing: "Be happy, be healthy, live in safety, be free."

if you could start a religion what would it be?
how would you go about setting it up?
what agenda would you have?
The Church of Mentos.
One day I will finish my essay comparing Zen Buddhism and what I call the Doctrine of Freshness which is the theme behind the commercials for these sacramints. But it would be a simple faith, as vs. 2 of the jingle says: "It doesn't matter what comes, fresh goes better in life."
i guess i've been inspired by stephen's quote threads, so i'm going to start one myself.. not one particular author here, just whatever i can find:.
q: why do you think that people are so protective of their egos?
why is it so hard to let go of one's ego?.
Bethany: Sex is a joke in heaven?
Metatron: The way I understand it, it's mostly a joke down here, too.

being in the [b]borg[b] for the past 10 years, i feel that i have lost a lot of my brain/critical thinking powers.
does anyone have a book recommendation to help me whip my grey matter back into shape?
Take a critical thinking class.
Other than that, when I first left I also started using psychoacoustic CDs and "mind machines" like light and sound stimulation devices. There are books on all kinds of subjects if you want to learn about it, but if critical thinking is what you're looking for then be educated in that.
i don't want to put to much pressure on her because i know that she might .
consider me as an apostate if i do this but, i would like to help her because i had a chat with her today and she told me that she is always tired and she never have time to relax.
how can i get its mind to wake up and discover the real thuth?.
Nic, my only advice would be to not view it so much as overcoming these arguments and reasoning on certain points, (even though those will be things you do) but rather as a matter of helping your sister. I'm sure if you keep that intent the fact that you care will come through. Just don't lose sight and get caught up in an argument. The rest of it is just details.
does anyone really care what active witnesses think of them?
i ask, because on many of the ex-witness boards i see a lot of mention of what people think others say behind their back.
personally, i hope the witnesses think i am the devil himself and fear me upon sight of me.
Kist! Your kids go to a Plum Blossom school? I go to grandmaster Doc Fai Wong's school! My brother makes those newer videos. Email me if you like.

Hi Kist, I don't mean to butt in but I have been both a witness and currently take martial arts myself. The heart of the problem is that the witnesses have their own perception of what martial arts is. Now to any reasonable person self defense is skillfully dealing with violence, but I think witnesses will tend to think of it as violence itself. Granted there are some individuals who have a violent tendancy, but at the very least martial arts teach them a measure of discipline. The fact is, people who are excited to learn martial arts so they can kick ass were already like that, and others who are not were like that before they learn, it doesn't make anyone into a violent person. If you think about it, when someone is violent they lose control, whereas martial arts teach you to use your mind in such a confrontation.
this is for those who are familiar with eastern thought.
now no doubt we are familiar with the idea of no-self, or that the ego is not real and what have you.
but there is the idea that in order to give up the ego, you have to develop one first.
