I wonder if they'll have an announcement at this summer convention reminding everyone to contribute to the "Radio Witnessing" fund

WT advertising on Radio in our area!!!
by confusedjw inmy wife just told me she heard on the radio an advertisment which started out with a child complaining of being scared.
the announcer went on to say that adults too sometimes get scared.

WTBS attitude towards vegetarians ...
by El blanko in.
having flirted with meat off and on through my life, but mostly conforming to the vegetarian standard (due to the obscenity for the most part that is the meat industry) - i noticed when serving with the society, that i came under fire from the brothers.. my moral arguments about cutting down on meat consumption based around the factory farming methods were cast aside and often sneered at.. "well god gave us the right to eat meat" was the usual line i had to swallow down.. have any of you guys faced the same situation?

I heard that vegetarians generally smell nicer than meat eaters. Though I'm not sure what the WTBS thinks about that :)

What's your basic attitude?
by seattleniceguy ini think that if i had to describe my basic attitude toward life, the universe, and everything in one sentence, it would be this:.
generally, and on reflection, life is better today than it was yesterday.. very anti-thetical to the wt view of things, i know.

I try to take a positive outlook as much as possible. I view life as a gift, and it's far too short to waste walowing around in self pity. I do some times tend to take a passive-agressive attitude toward things. I think somtimes there are just things you cant control, change, or fix, so why waste the time trying. But in general I just try to make the best outta every situation and keep my stress level as low as possible.

any suggestions for my "family problems"
by 1m2y3j init is very hard to condense 30 yrs of "in-law abuse" into a sentence or two, but hopefully some of you can relate and if you have found a way to cope/deal with it i'm all ears.
basically, my spouse and i have stayed together for 30-plus yrs because of being witnesses, despite extreme differences of values and goals.
half-way thru the lives of our children we both discovered the fallacies of wts and thankfully left this simultaneously.

Perhaps because I was raised as a witness, I have been "conditioned" to accept derision and it seems easier to just silently ignore it.
You are right on the money with this. Being a witness for so long makes it seem just so difficult to change your situation in life in any form.We are taught that it is just part of our JW lives, created by Satan. (blah) I cant offer any advice, I've not been in your situation, but there are plenty on this board who have. Just wanted to tell you WELCOME, and I hope you can make whatever decisions you need to make with great ease.

Young girls DF or DA for sex w/ older dubs.
by avishai inhow many instances have you seen where a younger girl, say 13-16 is df'd or da'd for "fornication w/ much older "brother" in the hall?
especially when the bro.
only gets reproof?

Well I dont know about the sex and DFing part. But it was a big trend where I was from for the young, barely legal sisters, dating and marrying the much older creepy brothers. My cousin who was 28 dating a 16 year old girl, having sex, and then getting married when she turned 18 and he was 30. Hell I was 18 and engaged to a 31 year old. I found the whole trend too creepy.

Favorite Female Vocalist
by Nosferatu inwho is your favorite female vocalist?
for me, it's gotta be darby mills from the headpins.
that woman's got one hell of a voice!

That's why I was so impressed. I went to the show a bit biased, but was completely blown away. I love when a vocalist is so talented they can put on such a good show without all that hooplah. It was simple and raw and amazing. And so despite all the gimeck, I'm impressed with her voice very much

Not vocally, but I love Cher.
I saw PINK in a small concert about 2 years ago, and the girl was incredible. No dancing, no big show, just a live band and her voice. The girl can whail liek nobody's business. I love that raspy, soulful sound in a female

Some girls are high maintenance, some arn't.
Here's the problem with those that arent high maintenance, sometimes you guys can take that for granted. I cant tell you how many times I've heard a man say about me "Oh she's not your avaerage girl, she doesnt like flowers and perfume, and jewelery, and candles, and all that typical romantic stuff." Hello! News Flash, I think EVERY woman at least once, would like that generic typical romanitic stuff.
If she hasnt been high-maintence PLEASE dont take that for granted. I think Nos does make a good point. Make her feel special, how about YOU cooking a special meal for her. Or do something, that gives her advance notice and tell her you want to take her out on a "date". I think that's exciting when you've been in a relationship for a while. It's not just getting dressed to go out, it's planing for it. Then go out on a "date" and do everything you would have done on a first date. Show her alot of attention, hold her hand, dont look at other women, make her feel so special for the evening.
Listen to what she has to say too. Maybe she has mentioned a new book she really wants to pick up, or a CD or new movie coming to DVD. Maybe her slippers are wearing out and she's mentioned needing new ones. Pay attention to that stuff. Sure women dont always come right out and say what they want, but we sure do drop an awful lot of hints. Then one day before you come home, just pick it up for her. That kind of stuff makes a woman feel special.
p.s. I like Nos pillow fight idea as well.......... nothing says luvin for me like being smacked in the head with a giant pillow.... no seriously :)
