Can someone please explain to me then, if the number of partackers going up is so damning to the WTS cause, then why don't they fix the count? They did it at KH's all the time to pad the numbers, I'm sure they could easily get away with it. This has me perplexed, because I know how corrupt they are in other areas, so there must be some advantage for them to let the number rise.

A few years ago, I was in a skit at the CA, demonstrating to the audience how to research topics in the WT publications.
I was asked to prepare what I was going to say, and send it to the elder, handling the main talk, so he can look it over prior to the part.
A couple of days later he gives it back to me and says, "I hope you don't mind, I've changed a few things".
Nothing I had written remained in the part, he completely revamped it.

What was your initial reaction to finding out the religion is a cult?
by make yourself inmine was filled with shock and anger but mostly anger.
it made me feel that way because i have never been lied to like that growing up in the religion with it being all you know.

I wanted to pick up the phone and call every JW I know and tell them what I've discovered. That's when it hit me. Not only do I have to keep this info to myself, but I have to continue pretending like I believe the WTS lies.
I also, for the first time, finally understood why my unbelieving father acted the way he did while we were growing up. How frustrating it must have been for him to see his entire family being swallowed up by a cult and not being able to do anything about it.

What to do
by JWinprotest inwe haven't been to a meeting or turned in a field service report for 2 months, so we don't know where our cong's memorial will be held this year.
we have 3 options.
either 1)we attend a meeting before the memorial and get the info, 2) we call one of the elders and get the info or 3) we wait to see if they contact us and if they don't we just miss for the first time ever.

The advise is appreciated Wobble. As I said, I am leaning towards going and trying to avoid contact as best as I can. I do want to achieve a quiet fade and don't want to bring unnecessary attention to myself or my family. I still have many family members in, and I don't want to put them in any difficult position where they have to choose between me and the organization. I have two young daughters and it would tear them apart if they couldn't be a part of their life.

Possible Blood Doctrine Change: A Hypothetical Conversation with all JWs

Why wait for an improved policy to exit?
Oh don't worry, it will happen. the policy change will just speed things up. Although the family will remain steadfast, I know them, they would not blame me for leaving. It may even start one of my brothers own exodus.
I know what my mother would say, "just because it's a conscience matter doesn't mean it's ok to do it". Conscious matter to her, means it's wrong. They are just implemented for the spiritually weak. Drives me crazy!!

Good point leavingwt, "There are even groups out there that find the blood issue to be their only hangup. So, for these folks, they would run back to WT, more encouraged than ever."
Never thought of it that way. The blood issue may have also prevented people from getting baptized in the first place.
I am among those that will use this to get out cold turkey, but I'm not holding my breath. Maybe the WTS is the one starting the rumour just to get a feel of what the reaction would be?

Porn - New study suggests it is good for society
by Elsewhere inhttp://www.physorg.com/news187448961.html.
could porn be good for society?physorg.com) -- the arguments against pornography are many, ranging from insistence that porn degrades women and is morally reprehensible to the assertion that pornography viewing is the cause of sex crimes.
however, over the years, there have been numerous studies done on this subject.

Undercover, Onthewayout, I'm leaning towards your take on it. I'll probably go and try to keep a low profile. I'm just tired of the bullshit. Everytime we would show up, we would get brothers and sisters coming up to us and saying, "oh we missed you so much, or, I was thinking of you the other day, and I wanted to call you, but (insert lie here)".
It's almost over, I can feel it, and I don't want anything setting us back.

Yes Blondie, there are 4 congregations at this KH, and I believe this year it is our turn to go elsewhere.
I don't feel the need to go, I just want to do what will bring the least amount of contact with anyone in the congregation. Did you get the dreaded calls after you missed your first?
Begin strengthening your ties with non-JW friends and family.
I've been doing this for over a year now. I still find it a bit difficult to open up to those on the outside, but I'm getting better.

I'll tell you one thing, if option 3 plays out, and we get no calls, that to me would be a clear indication of how much we really matter to the congregation, and remove any shred of guilt I still feel over my fade.
Like I said we have been MIA from the cong for 2 months, and quite irregular for much longer, and nobody seems to care. We haven't had any of the elders approach us or call us for a visit. They pretend like nothing has changed, they still schedule my wife and I on the TMS, even though we never complete the assignment. It sucks that nobody cares about us, but it's great that my fade is going well and ahead of schedule.
My question is, in your opinion, is 2 months of inactivity to soon to miss the Memorial. Would that spark too much unwanted attention from congregation? In other words, will I start getting calls from elders wanting to come over to "encourage us"? Do you think it's better to go to the Memorial and continue with the fade afterwards and just fall under the radar?
