  A daugther's purity

  a young lady i know is touting on facebook about her 12 year old daughter's purity.

  the daughter just took a purity promise at her church yesterday and i find that i'm slightly uncomfortable with the idea.

  i know the child just started her period because her mother announced it to me and the child announced it to a whole park a couple of weeks ago .

  I know that there has been mention previously about the possibility that there are some "awakened" ones in the Writing department.

  I think that para 14 could be one...all it really needs to have added is and aware of the consequences if you leave.

  On the other hand, para 15 kind of quashes that theory but there's more to this paragraph than meets the eye imho.

  Have your JW Relatives Explained about Generation/Overlap Change to You ?

  after reading on the way out's thread about his mom explaining the generation overlap to him it kicked this idea into my head to make this thread .

  i thought it would be helpful to see if anybody here has had jw relatives or friends try to explain this " generation overlap " theory to you as a faded or inactive witness and what happened in the conversations.

  so please feel free to post your experiences.

  Yes, time was running out! They knew that once all the people who were born in 1914 were dead their source of income, control etc was going to dry up. Thats the real reason why the Noo Light came out.

  Blondie - what happened after you told her? Did she call it off or be an ostrich and ignore it?

  Never heard of this going on but I do know of a sister in a neighbouring circuit who was known as the matchmaker and would introduce brothers and sisters. She called me (I had never met her) and asked if she could introduce me to some brothers. I told her thanks but no thanks. I was 24 years old and wanted to live a little before marrying.

  I am now doing Secretarial duties, due to Elder shortage in my cong.

  i am receiving all the letters/e-mails from bethel, i receive time reports(s4) from publishers and i also have access to all cong.

  files, including jc information.. i am to a certain extend running our cong., so i am essentially the ceo of the cong.. what a feeling ex-bro's and sis's!

  i never actually thought i'll be the ceo of any organisation in my life, thanks to jw's i now have the opportunity to "call the shots".. funny thing is they don't know that i am on a mission to "liquidate" this "company"(wbts)..

  Why didn't we ever study "Mankind's Search For God"?

  was there an official or unofficial reason that anyone knows of?.

  it seems to me that pretty much every publication was studied at the book study, but we never did that one..

  I don't recall studying it. I remember it was queried why not as it had questions in it.

  I do vaguely recall studying a brochure that had bits about various other religions beliefs about what happens after death.

  I heard from my parents that in the past the book to be studied was announced by Head Office but no schedule was supplied so every group was at a different chapter etc depending on how fast the conductor was. I think that this stopped some time in the 70s.
