How Did You Find New Friends?
by daringhart13 ini'm painfully curious on this subject.. when you have devoted your entire life, your entire social circle, everything you know......to this religion....when you fade away, how did you make new friends?
how did you replace all those people you thought were your friends?.
on top of fading away....... i lost a 'relationship' with a 'sister' due to not wanting to continue as a jw.

another point that has kinda been mentioned is that you have to loose your JW view of the world EG veiwing homosexuals as bad, considering unmarried couple to be sinning, swearing bad etc etc
loose that and you will fit in better. Also little tip, i found i was the only one talking about religon so DON'T!

hi, i feel your pain as i've been there myself.
I found that taking up group hobbies like yoga or such excerise or joining classes helped. One of my freinds i even got from evesdropping a convasation and joining in! It takes time, but its worth it , you end up with real freinds. In fact it took me quite a while to get over the fact that they weren't juging me or expecting anything of me.

In the UK they are registered as a charity. Its made clear from the platform that this is for tax reasons, they get a nice tax break from the goverment. But what charitable works do they actualy do?
Do they house the homeless? Take care of the eldery? feed the hungry? care for orphens? build play areas for children? Help out people other than their own kind when enviromental distarsters happen? Do they raise money for hospitals?
Could someone please justify why they are registered as a charity? I can think of nothing they do that would fit that description.
The only further their own religous interests, same as any company furthering a business interest...

Does anybody in London know anything about this???
by brizzzy ini'm a californian, but a good friend in london just texted me saying there's a blitz of about 50 jehovah's witnesses in croydon right outside of where she's eating loaded up with watchtowers and setting up a stall and a speaker with a megaphone.
she also says that some of them are women in wheelchairs and that they're rolling in front of passers by and blocking them when they try to ignore them.
she says all of the pedestrians are telling them to fuck off and leave them alone because they're not interested in a cult, haha.. is this something new that the society is encouraging over there (or even more scary, everywhere?

If this is happening it won't be giving the "fine wittness" that they are hoping for. It will just renforce everyones view that they are a mad werid cult. I bet they are doing this because someones told them "the end is nigh! save as many as you can!"
Who was the poet who said about seeing ourselves as others see us??

If the GB told the sisters to wear muslim style shrouds, how many would obey do you think?
by highdose inwhen i was in i wouldn't have obeyed that.
but i'm sure they could find some scripture and twist it enough to back them up.. .
seriously would there be a mass revolt?

Seriously would there be a mass revolt? Or more frightening would we see sisters in head to toe in black shroud on the FS, telling people that the GB told them to wear it out of loving concern or some such nonsense?
Poll please?

panty Hose at Meeting?
by hamsterbait ina friend of mine went to work in ny for a few months.. it was the middle of summer, and baking hot.. after the meeting an elder approached her and asked why wasnt she wearing panty hose at the kingdumb hell.. she said its too hot.. he said it disrespects jehoobie.. she said "so does staring at my legs during the meeting.".
i have also heard complaints that a bra strap might be visible under a blouse, so cardigans should still be worn.. how do these creeps cope when sitting on a beach?.
who was the gibbering buddy who sunbathed on the roof of beth hell showing off his packet in skimpy trunks?.

Did you use your holiday/vacation to have a holiday from the JW's?
by highdose inlooking back, one of the reasons i used to love getting away was because it allowed me to have a gulit free holiday from the meetings.
i loved arriving somewhere, where no one knew me, my own cong didn't know where i was, if i was attending the meetings or not.
i could just go out on a meeting night, do what i wanted have a meal out with a bottle of wine and no one would ever know!.

You would think this sheer sense of relief would have rung alarm bells in my head, but to my enteral shame it didn't:(
There was only one time when i found the local cong where i was on holiday. I was immeadly given the meeting times, expected to be there. Then i was given the FS times and expected to be there. The whole JW routine completly took over my time away. If i missed a meeting i would get a call the next day!
I stayed away from the JW's after that while on hols

Encounter with JW's take two...
by highdose inmy doorbell rang about 30mins ago, standing out side was a 30 somthing man and a very very young boy.
the young boy mumbled and stuttered and limply waved about a awake magazine at me.
i told him i wasn't interested because his religon had a bigger child abuse problem than the cathloic church, the difference is jw's cover it up better.
