After what has occurred in Japan and the totally devastating impact it has had in that country and after all the other disasters that have been occurring lately the world over - - in nature, politics, etc, I can't help wondering if maybe we are truly in the end times. It is like an accelerating domino effect has been going on, everything just tumbling after and over each other that makes me think if possibly that we could really be in the end times now. Not that this makes me believe the Jehovah's Witnesses are right and have the ultimate truth, because I don't believe that. I don't believe that any one specific religion has a monopoly on 'truth' or God, or that there is only one right and true religion that actually is following a certain, particular path that God has set for 'His people' meaning a particular religious group. I mean for all of humankind regardless of anyone's choice of religion or faith. It's just that very, very extreme things have been happening lately, and maybe we shouldn't be 'pooh-poohing' the end of times talk right now. It's just something I've been thinking about. No way do I consider myself as someone who has any answers about this or any great knowledge. I know that I most certainly don't! It just seems to be something worth considering as a valid possibility at this time.

Issuing a challenge to Jehvoah's Witnesses everywhere
by Terry innow is the time (to quote an old kingdom song)..... to challenge jw's everywhere who are pointing to the "difficult times hard to deal with" in the news around the world.
and declaring armageddon is absolutely, positively nigh.. for one thing, they always point to something somewhere, don't they?.
and whatever it is---absolutely means time is short.. but, it is the usual nonsense, bullshit, poppycock over-statement, exaggeration and hype.. call them on it this time!.

Young people, you can die if you do not progress in the truth and become baptized.
by garyneal inthis is what the guest speaker was saying at my wife's hall yesterday.
she and i was babysitting our niece and since she had three kids going to the hall with her (including my two daughters) i figured i'd go with her to help out.
they were rambuctious and wild to say the least.. while i was in the hallway with my youngest daughter, i continued to listen to the speaker talk.

I remember learning in a childhood development class that children are eleven years old before they can really think in a truly logical way. Little kids are not ready to make a huge decision regarding getting baptized or not! They are simply not prepared for that decision. If they want to get baptized when they are very young, I think children should be encouraged to wait until they are older to make such an important choice for their lives. Little ones may think they are ready to decide that, but really, they need more time to grow and learn! Heaven help the kids in this religion!!

Feb. 15th WT - WT Society says DFed Ones are Lawless- Just Like Demons
by flipper ini would assume that some or a good number of us here as normal humans in this society - consider " lawless " actions to include murder , robbery, extortion, rape, child abuse, war , terrorism, etc.
the wt society has their own definition of what's considered " lawless ".
anything that's considered a disfellowshipping offense in the jehovah's witnesses is now considered " lawless ".

I was told by a JW that Jehovah's Witnesses now recognize the need to turn pedophiles over to the authorities. When I asked if this has yet been published in the Watchtower magazine I was informed that whether or not it has been published in a Watchtower article that Witnesses now report pedophilia to the appropriate authorities. If this is so, then why hasn't the Watchtower printed this 'fact' in a magazine?! What is really the situation at this time regarding pedophilia. Are the JWs indeed 'permitted' to report pedophiles to the police or not?!

Content is King- Why the Meetings Fail
by LostGeneration inone of the big sayings for those that run websites is that "content is king" it makes perfect sense, as sites like this one have entertaining content for the targeted audience.
even better, more content is added everyday bringing users back repeatedly.
poptular tv shows and movies are loved because they entertain customers for a low cost or free.. on the other hand, you have the content provided by the watchtower bible and tract society, delivered though the pages of the watchtower and through weekly meetings.

Baltar447, businesslike, that is what the meetings seemed like to me. They lacked a feeling of spirituality. That feeling was a big part of what was missing at the meetings. I think that religion is not so important to me as spirituality is.

Is this considered slander? The WTBTS has really gone too far here! Do disfellowshipped/disassociated people have to just take this? This is wrong!!

Two Or More Witnesses Policy Still In Effect For Elders In Child Abuse Cases
by PublishingCult indespite its assurances to the media reporting on child sex abuse cases, the official wtbts policy on dealing with child molestation in the congregation has not actually changed.
the most recent direction given to congregation elders in dealing with child molestation allegations can be found in the 2010 revised edition of the secret for-elders'-eyes-only manual, shepherd the flock.
this direction is in direct violation of the law regarding how ministers are to handle allegations of child molestation.

This is sickening. Pedophiles are getting away with harming children, and the elders are helping them get away with harming children. What about the rapist who got away with it for 25 years before anything was done, and the judge was upset about it? Yet the 'governing body' just keeps telling the elders to stick to the same old useless policy. It is so stupid and disgusting! The 'governing body' seems to be to Jehovah's Witnesses what the pope is to Catholics. The final word, etc. Crazy.

Comparing the old elder's handbook to the new...
by undercover inas i've read through the new elder's book, something kept nagging at me about it.
then i went to compare one passage in the new book to the old and it hit me.
i've mentioned it on a couple of posts, but i wanted to start a thread on it.... what hit me was that the new book was like an instruction manual to supervisors in a plant.

Wow, thanks for pointing out the differences between the chapters in the old book and the new one! The new book's chapters sound absolutely legalistic! Very perceptive of you to see the differences so clearly! Thank you for bringing them to our attention. How very eye-opening!

The article mentions that people making sacrifices and meeting challenges are being "richly blessed', but it doesn't say how they are being blessed. How are they being blessed?

DESTROYING the Individual: the goal of Watchtower Authority
by Terry inthe governing body wants to disable individuality.
individuality is evidenced by self-expression.
no self...no expression of self.. personal desire leads to expression of personal desire.

Wow, some really good comments here! When it comes to individuality I am proud of the way my nieces and their husbands are raising their children, in spite of the WTBTS's tyranny. The kids are in soccer, music, dance lessons, etc. I am so happy about that!! What is it like generally for children and teenagers anymore in the Jehovah's Witnesses?
