FHN, it wasn't until recent decades that people started marrying for love. Marriage was never about love. It was about finances and politics. When people wanted love they diddled someone else. The only reason to get legally married now is to be elligible for various monetary benefits. Marriage is a contract that deals with material matters, not emotional ones.

First of all, figure out what it is you want. If a magic fairy could wave her wand and make everything involving your man and your ex just the way you want it, what would that outcome be? Get that scenario firmly in your mind.
Now erase the fairy. Keeping in mind that the only person you can control is yourself, what actions can you take that are most likely to make that scenario come true?
Sometimes we can't have exactly what we want because other people do not cooperate with our plans. But you'll never get what you want if you're not sure what you want and keep making wild guesses at what actions might make you happy.
Remember the golden rule: treat others as you want to be treated. And remember the platinum rule: treat others as THEY want to be treated.

Your opinion please
by sspo injust wondering what all of you experts would do if you were in my shoes and of course i realize we are all different and there is no right answer.. i was a jw for over 3 decades and very active, served mostly as elder for those many years.... won't give you all the details but wife divorced me for being an "apostate" "spiritual endangerment" even though there was.
no ground for scriptural divorce.
i was never df or da.. she's waiting for me to commit adultery and write a letter for her to be given to the elders.

I dropped off the radar when I moved out of state. I've already given my ex grounds to remarry but hopefully he'll never know. He's legally free to remarry whomever he chooses as your ex is. If they want to play by the rules of their religion, let them.
As for me, not giving him the opportunity to remarry will hopefully protect some naive witness girl from marrying him and ending up in the same situation I did. I do have compassion for young sisters who are sincere just as I was.

JWs can become anointed at any time??
by lavendar insomeone in a previous thread stated this regarding the "new light" on the 1914 teaching:.
people can still become anointed at any time.. .
i'm curious (as usual).........how do these jws know they're anointed?

It goes hand in hand with the teaching of what the "generation" that wouldn't pass away before the end means. First they said it was those people alive in 1914. Then they changed it to mean the type of wicked worldly conditions that exist in this general time. Now it's referring specifically to the anointed. And since there can be more anointed at any time, this system can be prolonged indefinitely!

At assemblies, me and my brother used to write irreverant captions or quotes to go with the pictures. That was the best.

I've been told that they "just know" in the sense that you just know that you are male or female. Considering how many people these days are gender confused I find that description less than helpful.

Reincarnation....Is It Possible?

The Buddhists teach that there is no permanent self. That reincarnation is like lighting a candle from one flame to another. In a way it is the same energy, in a way it is something new. Just like throughout our lifetime our body cells are constantly renewed so that we are no longer physically the same person, our personality (what we think of as the "self") is constantly in flux. I've found this to be true since I'm a very different person than I was as a JW. I'm still me, but there's very little in common with the "me" I was then.
Science has so far been unable to explain the phenomenon of consciousness. We understand a great deal about the brain, but very little about the "mind". I wouldn't be surprised if consciousness is a form of energy that doesn't become defunct when it is no longer attached to a particular brain, but rather becomes attached to a new one, perhaps even rejoining a combined "sea of consciousness" in the interim. Because the person we become depends so much on genetics and life experience and is always subject to change, it is very unlikely this energy would retain previous memories or traits.
It is also possible, that occasionly someone gets a dose of energy that is more potent than usual, which may cause memory retention or genius. If there is a finite amount of energy and our population keeps expanding, that may explain why so many people around us seem to be morons.
Any way, that's one fantastical interpretation of reincarnation.

More are waking up to the false prophecies as well as the hyocrisy
by Amazing injehovah will do none of the things you suggest ... jehovah, as he is defined by watchtower styled teachings, or the teaching fantasies of a number of ex-jws, is a false god, and simply does not exist.
that is what watchtower false prophecy proves to me ... that their weak little pathetic god, that they market under the name jehovah, has less substance than a roman statue of jupiter.. if you accept the bible ... then as st. luke states, in acts 4:12, "neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
" as the scripture says, the father transferred name recognition to the son.

"Then they have the 144000 rising to christ in 1919, then they are finally sealed in 1935????"
Didn't you hear the new understanding on that? The number isn't completely filled yet. People can still become anointed at any time. And that's why you can't tell when the end is coming based upon the age of the anointed.

Every bookstudy conductor I've had would go overtime by 10 or 15 minutes, every meeting. And they felt the need to comment themselves after every single comment. I started leaving on the hour the meeting was supposed to be over.
Am I the only one who found the service meeting to be even more interminably boring than the watchtower? Maybe that's because it always came at the end of a long day. At least after the watchtower I knew there would be time to do what I wanted.

Witness Hemophiliacs are draining the blood banks dry! Yet only Worldly people can donate?
by Witness 007 inacts 15 "......abstain from blood, and fornication..." .
one transfusion of hemophiliac treatment can use hundreds of bags of blood!
the process uses up alot of blood supplies.

Scully, if accepting a transfusion is fornication, wouldn't accepting fractions be loose conduct?
