When I worked at Wal-Mart I was a cashier and HATED it. One day I got to take someone else's place facing shelves. I spent the whole day just making sure everything in my section was tidy and pulled to to the front. I LOVED it. I could get paid to do that all day. So it didn't bother me at all to find stuff on the floor or out of place and put it back because as long as I was doing that, I didn't have to be at the *%! register.

I'm studying Therevada Buddhism. I like it because it is more about psychology than religion. There is no moral code to follow. Instead of right and wrong, Buddhists think more in terms of "skillful" and "unskillful." If an action, word or thought has a beneficial effect, then it is skillful and worth cultivating. This, of course, means long-term as well as short-term and includes compassion for yourself and others.
There is no god. The Buddha was just a man who thought deeply about these things and began to look at life in a certain way that is called "enlightenment." I find that Buddhism has many similarities to the teachings in Jesus sermons, without the emphasis on God.
I have recently started going to group meditation with the sangha (congregation) and learning tai chi with them. To anyone interested in learning about it, I suggest reading Eight Mindful Steps to Happiness by Bhante G

Where did these unoffical beliefs/standards come from?
by highdose ini've been doing some reasoning about all the jw teachings i've been taught as i grew up.
one of them was the belief that if you were baptised young that it would be a protection for you.
i questioned this at the time as i thought that instead it would make you prey to opposition from satan at a young age.

Sometime around 10 years ago I remember them pushing baptism for kids. I believe it was in print, though I couldn't tell you where (possibly a KM?). I definitely remmeber hearing it from the platform. They said that a lot of some parents were discouraging their kids from getting baptized for fear they would mess up and be disfellowshipped. The analogy given was that driving a car has the potential to be dangerous, but we don't stop our kids from getting licensed and learning to drive.
A ridiculous analogy, because at least in the USA, kids can't drive until 16 or 17 years of age. Even then, some parents won't let their kids drive until they're older. I got baptized at 12. Learning to drive responsibly is nothing like making a vow to live according to a set of rules when (a) you're not old enough to understand those rules even if you've memorized them and (b) the rules are subject to change at any time.

male or female?
by John Doe infreezer bags: they are male, because they hold everything in, but you can see right through them.. photocopiers: these are female, because once turned off; it takes a while to warm them up again.. they are an effective reproductive device if the right buttons are pushed, but can also wreak havoc if you push the wrong buttons.. tyres: tyres are male, because they go bald easily and are often over inflated.
hot air balloons: also a male object, because to get them to go anywhere, you have to light a fire under their butt.. sponges: these are female, because they are soft, squeezable and retain water.. web pages: .
female, because they're constantly being looked at and frequently getting hit on.. trains: definitely male, because they always use the same old lines for picking up people.. egg timers: egg timers are female because, over time, all the weight shifts to the bottom.. hammers: male, because in the last 5000 years, they've hardly changed at all, and are occasionally handy to have around.. the remote control: female.

Adam was in the garden of Eden, speaking with God, praising him for creating Eve. But he says to God, "There's something I want to ask you about. How come you made her so beautiful?"
God says, "That's so you would love her."
Adam says, "Well, how come you made her so soft?"
God says, "That's so you would love her."
Adam says, "But how come you made her so dumb?"
God says, "That's so she would love you."

What Freedoms Do You Enjoy That You Couldn't As A Witness?
by minimus inas jws, we were in bondage to the organization, its rules and its whims.
now, we do not have to follow their direction and believe that whatever we were being told was by "theocratic" arrangement.. so, what freedoms do you have now that you have been liberated?.
